Well, either way, it's just more fuel for the 360 gamers to fire at PS3 owners. They bag us about our almost non-existent RROD problems, we give them hell about 321...patch o'death and the clock of doom error.

Lol well this thread is not about console war

@mchiefvs360 If you've got nothing constructive to say, please leave this topic. Besides surveys have showN that in 2008 1 in 6 Xbox 360s were defective. Thats quite a lot. But I'm not going to get into that anymore. This is NOT a topic for arguing PS3 and 360 fans.

I think it's just that the update stuffed a lot of things up, not just DA:O, according to various reports, that's why I have a 360, at least our updates don't brick consoles...

I would hardly call it a brick console when it only screws up one game. Borderlands, Uncharted 2, and God of War 3 are still working fine for me.

Agree I just finished 3 old games againg without a freezing problem , Borderlands, Tomb Raider, Ninja Gaiden 2 it seems like those aren´t effected from the update

Ok looks like uninstalling/reinstalling didnt last long I just got a freeze in Denerim and I am playing without internet and ps upscaler n smoothing off. By the looks of it we are gonna need a real fix tried all other 'fixes' but the problem persists

I'd be pretty shocked if uninstalling/reinstalling was any sort of lasting fix, given that multiple people in this thread have said they didn't even own the game until after the firmware update and are experiencing the problem.

I wasnt certain about it either but apparently people who been chatting to bioware tech support and Sony said thats what they suggested, I know they just said so to buy some time well was worth a try, it did run smoothly for a few hours before the issue caught up

Slim 120gb model

The crashing is random, and does not always happen in the same place everytime.

Ive played through 4 of the origins, each one 2-3 times so i could explore different build.

Human Noble and City Elf backgrounds crashed far more frequently than the Mage/Dalish Elf ones.

edit

my ps3 is new
i had to update the OS before i could even install DA:O

none of the codes in the box are accepted either ... which is a totally different problem

If it is a coding error that isn't conpatable with the firmware upgrade then how is uninstalling the game and reinstalling the game going to work?

There is still something wrong with the code.

Right.  But it's back to those proverbial "checks in the boxes".  It's better to have exhausted all available options.

It'll "hopefully" (and I use that term VERY loosely) force Sony or whatever powers-that-be to do what they are paid to do and produce a product that works like it's suppose to without it being at the expense of the consumer ( I know....BIG LAUGH!!).

Has anyone else got an email from the Lead QA? They've asked me for really detailed information about my PS3 and what my habits are when playing DA:O so they can try and replicate the problem. Hopefully this will eventually lead to a fix.

Yeah. I got one too. Filled it out as best as I could and fired it back.

Who knows, maybe we'll get some love for being die-hard contributers. lmao

If I get told of a possible fix after emailing Bioware, I'll post on here.

For those that don't know, theres a number of people, that have posted on this thread, that Bioware have contacted asking for specific details of their PS3 and their habits whilst playing DA:O so that they can try and replicate the problem we are having and produce some form of fix for it.

If BIoware finds a "fix" for this problem, they are not going to send it out in an email to one person. They will post it here so all of us can see it.

@zenassassins haha yeah that would be awesome.

I dunno whether its everyone thats posted that has got that email or if it's just like the most active contributors?

That's true. But they will send it out for people to test it first (according to the email). They'll compare the results then go from there.

@TheDarkHuntress yeah you're totally right. They did also say that they may ask us to test out possible fixes as well.

i bought dragon age: origins on monday 26.04.2010. first installed the firmware update 3.30 and than installed dragon age: origins. played the game till i entered the brecilian forest without any problems. after playing 2-3 hours in the forest the game began to freeze.

the whole time i played the game, my ps3 was connected with the internet. deactivating the internet connection didn´t fix the problem.

I've had the same problem: the game just seem to freeze at random points. But the game has stopped freezing after I started to save after every dialogue and fight. I tested without saving, and it froze not long after. Maybe it's too early to say for sure, but it seems it works for me (while waiting for a real solution, of course).
