We're talking with Sony but this is a bit out of the blue for us as to why it is affecting DA (this is a sony hardware update).

Could I ask if this is affecting you to include some more details...

- Are you playing Origins or Awakening disc (or DLC version)

- Which Sony region are you in

- Could you check a different title on your PS3 to confirm if this is DA only

Thank you.

Origins without Awakening installed.
Sony region... Europe, I guess?
Other titles works, playing Final Fantasy right now.

1- I'm playing DA Origins (with Warden DLC)
2- I'm in the US
3- I ran both Demon's Souls and GT5P (PSN version) for several hours and they both ran fine. Origins is crashing every 15 minutes.

 1. Playing DA: Origins

2. Europe

3. Played other games, and they works fine.

I bought DA 6 days ago, and before 3.30 upgrade, the game was working great. Then I updated to 3.30 and got 4 freezes in one hour.

I was hope that im gonna play DA for a weekend but i guess its not  gonna happen. Anyway, pls fix it as fast as it is possible.

I am playing the EU version of Dragon Age Origins Region 2 disc and PS3. I have tested few other titles such as GTA, Bioshock and Oblivion and so far no crashes, but as soon as I play Dragon Age Origins I get a crash within 15 minutes if not sooner. But I have heard that people are having the same issue with other games and bluray movies as well. That said Dragon Age seems to be suffering the most from it so far with multiples crashes one after the other

1. DA Origins with no DLC

2. US region

3. All other games I could try work fine.

One thing that I noticed that while the console is completely frozen (nothing moves on screen, controller does not responds to any buttons - not even the PS button), the music continues to play normally.

Origins-Disc with some DLC (Warden's Keep, Stone Prisoner installed) but I was in the main plot.

USA

So far no problems with anything else.

On the Sony forum, someone had the Avatar BD freeze after this update, not sure if it is at all related.

I did notice something that may or many not be a coincidence, it seemed to freeze when my "camera" was changing perspectives like when I was turning my lead character around, or when I selected a new target in combat.

Origings disc (CE) but also have Awakenings disc and DLC wardens keep, stone prisoner, return to ostagar.  I've been replaying Origins and right now i can only tell you that the freezeing on my end is only taking place in the Circle tower and the Fade.  I cant at this moment tell you if it happens anywhere else becuase as you know you have to beat the circle tower in order to get out to the main map.  I will later on try out Awakenings to see if the freezing happens there or not.

US North America

No other issues on games.

I just did a little searching on the Playstation Network forum, and someone was having the same problem with Final Fantasy as well.

I reported this to both EA and Sony tech support. No response from Sony, EA just sent me a canned update your firmware response =P

That was very amusing...

Seems that every update that Sony releases I always get a new problem. Not just with certain games.

Playing Origins disc. No Awakening. Only DLC is the Blood Dragon armor and Shale.

Playing in the U.S.

Other games have not experienced any problems since the update.

Origins with stone prisoner and blood dragon armor.
Sony region europe
Everithing else is working fine.

It freezed immediately after the end of a combat and changing place to an object in the inventory (into the usless things), but it seems totally random.

I've read about problems with avatar BD and some other games in the official Sony forum.
Thanks for your time.

I'm using Origins US Version on the EU console, no DLC. Didn't test other games yet, but once I unplug my Internet(meaning not beeing connected to PSN) I can play Origins fpr hours w/o any freeze. As soon as I plug the Internet in again it only takes a few minutes till my game freezes.

So my guess would be it has something to do with the new "We can do whatever we want with your playstation whenever we want"-thing that came with 3.30(hidden under the new feature being 3D games/movies).

So for now if you didn't patch yet, better not patch at all, otherwise play offline.

heres the things ive noticed

Frame rate drops even more

Freezes in 50mins+ it just completely crashes i mean it just freezes up cant bring up xmb or quit game gota completely reset ps3

Everytime i go to a store or party chest i have a 90% chance of freezing on the spot

Autosaving i had off to begin with cause it drops the frame rate but it drops even more now and it freezes when i tried to play with it on.

thats what i've noticed but all in all im happy Bioware knows us Ps3 users exist :)

Playing in the U.S. Awakenings disc. It had frozen up at least 4 times, twice while leveling up, and twice during battle.

My PS3 started crashing after the new sytem update as described in other posts. Don't let anyone tell you its a hardware issue. It does it on all the PS3 models old and new. I can thank EA support for insisting that I install this time bomb firmware that can't be easily undone. All part of repeated contacts with EA support over the DLC which remained VERY unresolved. This is new crash/freeze issue was so timely EA! I had just bought the Combo Feastpack which fixed this DLC issue. (BTW) EA knows buying DLC fixes the long running DLC problem and I would not be suprised if marketing issues were delaying the real patch!

So end result is as follows:

The EA Song and Dance

Congress in Washington DC could not have done better!

1) I spend a lot of money for a game and expansion.

2) Surprise - Included DLC does not load or operate as promised.

3) EA support wastes my time and more money to try to access DLC I already purchased.

4) EA support instruction lead to corruption of my entire PS3 EA game files.

5) EA support continues to blame customers hardware and ISP connections.

6) Promises are made to again address a general server issues that may be the culprit.

7) A miraculous fix appears that involves buying more DLC content. (Feast Day Combo)

8) Just when I think the pain is over and can enjoy DA - I realized I was really sucker punched again when EA support insists I apply firmware update 3.30. (

9) Now my PS3 console freezes every few minutes if I try to play DA.

I sit here waiting for the next shoe to drop -

Sony's is not the guilty party here - EA Bioware should have tested in advance of the system update and how it affects their products. Some games work just fine with 3.30.

Is anyone else sufficiently outraged by this kind of treatment?

It seems to work better if I disconnect from the internet. No freezes for about 2 hours already!

I'll have to give that a try! Still annoying but if we can work around it, great.

I tried the removing internet connection yesterday. You may see a reduction but I suspect the damage may be incremental in progesss after each lock up - This is what happens on a PC computer hard drive if you don't properly shut it down. So if you value your game progress I would strongly urge use of back on removable media like a SD card before a non recoverable crash.

I hope Sony and EA/Bioware pay the techs some overtime to fix this issue!
