Its been over 3days since anyone from bioware posted i think they owe use updates on what there doing. I doubt there doing anything tbh...

They don't owe us anything, for starters. Sony ruined the game with their bad firmware, THEY owe us an update. And you'd think they'd at least try to calm us on the PSBlog, they won't even do that.

Bioware could have ignored this thread, or said it was Sony's job. Instead, they came to this thread and pursued several possible causes to the crashes. If they are silent, then maybe they are working on something or are beating up someone at Sony for not testing the 3.30 update. Or both things, I hope.

Oh well. The whole Pixeljunk collection is now priced at $15, just found something to do while the fix isn't out.

You can reinstall the update manually without reformatting, download it on a PC to a USB drive, go to the update menu and pick the USB drive. It will reinstall the update.

This seems to help a lot, but only if you remove your disk from the PS3 AND restore the default settings on the PS3 first!

You don't have to uninstall any software, reformat the hard drive or delete game data.

It's worth a try, see if it works for you guys as well.

And No, I have a 120GB Slim....

Also. is this problem occuring more frequently on slim PS3s? I have an 80gb fat and my crashes don't happen as often as much as other peoples who are posting on this thread.

I guess this close to the weekend we shouldn't expect a fix for the freezing issues. I'm still playing but starting to get worried about the damage this will eventually cause to my PS3. I'm near the end on my first ever playthrough. It's hard not to continue....

How are you turning it off after a freeze ? I have just pressed the power button, the ps3 realises the software isn't responding, gives the three beeps then shuts down.

I've only had to do this once before with my slim when Uncharted 2 froze at a point where it seems to freeze a lot for people but have now had to do it three times.

I'm trying to reinstall the firmware but whenever I select removable storage device to update from, it says 'applicable data not found' Help? The updates definitely on my memory stick...

iirc it needs to be in a specific directory, can't remember name off top of head.

edit:   needs to be in PS3\\UPDATE\\ on your usb stick.

This is why I am so irritated, bought it specifically to play over the long weekend, might just return it as "not fit for purpose" and buy the pc version even though it will run horribly on my pc.

Good post.  People need to understand, PC does not have this issue, XBOX does not have this issue.  Clearly it's a result of bad FW.

MS and Sony have both released bad FW/Dash updates in the past, nothing new.  Annoying as all hell, but expected

Try clicking the TRIANGLE button => choose DISPLAY ALL => press X button. This should display all the files on your USB stick.

And the USB stick needs to be formatted to FAT32, I think.

Can you see your USB stick? If not try a different USB port.

Just throwing a few ideas out there. Sometimes we can overlook the simplest things.

I'm going to try this temp fix, too. I'll update tonight. Or tomorrow if I'm busy wooing Leliana. (not a bad place to freeze, if ya gotta freeze!)

Oh after reading that I think I've figured it out. You have to download the update directly to the 'PS3/UPDATE' directory. I'm doing that now. Thanks guys and girls! :)

I think they owe us somthing cause its there game thats been effected by this update. GOW3 MW2 UC2 KZ2 WAW ECT i have tried them all and they work fine.  So how does bioware not owe us somthing when they've been giving ps3 and xbox360 owners alike the shaft when it comes to updates/fixes/patches. Then when they do release a patch it makes the game even worse. I think they very much do owe use updates. If it was all sony's fault i'd be fixed by now atleast. Thats one perk ill give to sony. Its a combonation of both there mistakes but sony wont care to fix it cause its only one game and wont bother fixing it. Its up to bioware to address and keep us informed of this issue.

Yup like i said ps3 and xbox360 owners alike get the shaft no matter what the issue is. Even if they did wana help the greedy fat man in the black suit that is EA games would say "NO IT COSTS MONEY YOU SHALL DO NOTHING."

Everybody knows Bioware is in Microsoft's pocket and only made a PS3 version because EA forced them to. After this mess we may not even GET anymore DA games.

Needless to say, playing the "Blame Game" isn't going to help things get figured out....if it ever gets figured out. All we can do is try to troubleshoot as much as we can and wait to see if there will be a fix. I'm not exactly thrilled about it either; but I'm not going to start slinging blame. It doesn't change the fact that a problem exists. Who care who's fault it is as long as it gets fixed?

I'm placing good faith in that the BW team is working to try and figure it out. It seems to be a rather perplexing issue with no cut-and-dry answer. They are human and are probably as stumped as we are about it.

Yup thats why we'll never see ME2 on ps3. But it wont matter if they dont put DA2 on ps3 they will cause EA will again force them to. But it wont matter im gona get DA2 on PC anyway and prolly rebuy Origins for the computer as well.
