Game crashing after PS3 Firmware 3.30 update

But it never crashes at the same time or location. After reading through the comments of the other users I have to say that with me it's not that worse. I normally still am able to play it, sometimes for hours without crashing.

But the main question is: Are they working on it?

If they are soliciting people for information on when it crashes thats good as it means they are working on it but it's also bad because it means they haven't tracked down what it was.
If they have now done this I guess it's a matter of fixing it and pushing through an update, I'm sure (hope) Bioware will be in touch when they have some idea of the timescale involved.
In the meantime I need something else to play over my long weekend.

I can play for ever w/o freezes if I did not connect to PSN(auto connect=off) at startup, but if I start my PS3 and connect to PSN once(e.g. to sync my trophies), disconnecting right after that I get freezes.
Now I'm not sure how the new control-system from sony works. But you may very well need to just connect once to PSN and they keep the control connection open for as long as your PS3 is online(physically).
Surely if that's a problem it's not the only one. But since the freezes are solved for many people when playing disconnected it clearly is one of the problems.

So you're saying if i stay signed off of PSN I can play DA without it freezing at all?

Froze 4 times, even while not connected to the PSN.
Frustrated with this game. I can't download the items earned through the EA2D flash game, and can't download the 2 free items that came with a promo card in the game box.
Been working the issues with support since 7 April with no luck yet!
Hope they work all these issues out, I enjoy the game and just want to play the damn thing.

Hey guys I may have found a solution for some people to try. Basically if ur using a HD t.v try adjusting the settings for full spectrum and turn PS smoothing and the upscale thing off. Also if your ps3 automatically attempts to sign in to the network turn that off as well . Finally pull the ethernet cable out of your ps3. In doing this I have not had a problem with freezing, I think i went for 4 hours or so....seems like a reasonable game session length no?
Yeah pretty much all of us have tried those 'fixes' but eventually it will freeze. None of our troubleshooting seems to be working. We'll have to wait for Bioware to contact us with a permanent solution.

Probably not I tried the exact same thing when I first encountered the problem and there was absolutely no change at all, but it seems to work for some people so I guess it's worth a try

Games and DLC: DAO, DAO Awakening, Shale, Stone Prisoner, Return to Ostagar, and a few items DLCs
PS3 Systems: 60GB 1st release model and 120GB Slim model
Tested Areas: DAO - Fade, Mage Tower, Denerim, Ostagar, DLC contents, DAO Awakening (various areas), etc...
Both systems freeze regardless of the area, the character or the DAO game being played.
What I have noticed is that after the game freezes the first time it is freezes quicker the second time. If I power down the system and restart I'm good for about an hour and than have to power down again or the game will freeze within 15 minutes.
The update has not impacted my other 30+ PS3 games but those games are boring when you have a game like DAO to occupy your free time.
I believe a patch is required from Bioware and if they do patch the game fix the Dagger BUG please. It is annoying knowing that a dex based rogue stinks even though most of the better talents in DAO Awakening are DEX based.

To limit the game freezing, I would do the following: Disable Internet connection and/or unplug ethernet cable (if applicable), turn off auto-save, make numerous saves throughout the game, lower output resolution if using an HDTV ,and finally, turn off the ps smoother and upscaler (even though that probably has nothing to do anything with anything).
For some people (like me), these changes will give you 4-5 hours straight of game-play, and others, this may only give you an hour. And yes, this may not work at all for others, but, I have not had a freeze in over 3 days and a total of 17 hours of playing dragon age, so it's worth a try.
Or if you are not addicted to the game, just check this forum often, especially when Monday comes around!

PS3 Slim
Occurs in both origins and awakenings. Awakenings and all other add-ons purchased as a dowload from the ps3 store.
Playing logged in to the psn network.
Playing on highest resolution
Freeze always occurs shortly after (within 1 min of) combat ending. Usually presents when looting corpse. Sometimes presents when walking away from combat area or opening a door. It seems to occur more frequently just after a save, but I'm not sure if that is just because I'm saving more often because of the issue. Recover by ejecting the disk, allowing the ps3 to reboot. Usually get an hour between freezes.

Well, it doesn't work for me! I created a new mage today and the game freezes every 5 minutes now on my way to Irving. And yes, we payed to play the game, and we enjoy playing it so Bioware or Sony should finally come out with a fix!!skoota360 wrote...
