As for disabling the internert connection...

I can play for ever w/o freezes if I did not connect to PSN(auto connect=off) at startup, but if I start my PS3 and connect to PSN once(e.g. to sync my trophies), disconnecting right after that I get freezes.
Now I'm not sure how the new control-system from sony works. But you may very well need to just connect once to PSN and they keep the control connection open for as long as your PS3 is online(physically).

Surely if that's a problem it's not the only one. But since the freezes are solved for many people when playing disconnected it clearly is one of the problems.

So you're saying if i stay signed off of PSN I can play DA without it freezing at all?

I'm saying it works for me and many others and thus is probably your best bet along with saving more frequently.

Oh yeah, I totally agree with everyone that an update or patch is needed ASAP.

I was just trying to compile the info on how to delay a freeze into one post, for new people coming to the forums. Obviously, there are probably a lot of factors that play in when and how it freezes based on everyone's configuration. I'm glad to be one of the lucky few to get many hours without a freeze...which means it'll freeze 5 mins into my next game, lol.

Good luck to you all, and I'm sure there will be an update on the progress, from Bioware, come Monday.

Well I played Awakening this morning for just over 2hrs and had no freezing! Yah! There was one point I thought it had but must have just been a hicup! I'll play later as I'm about to do the Mother in!

I'm sure there are doing plenty to fix it. It's not like Bioware got a chance to test the Sony update before us. As soon as Sony says it's time for the update to go live, it goes live. Bioware is doing everything they can to fix something that Sony broke. There will be an update, it might be this week, or it may be a few weeks, but an update or guaranteed fix is coming.

What puzzles me the most if that the issue hasn't been fixed, yet. I'm a webdeveloper and when we get a bug reported to us by one of our customers. We aim to have it fixed by the end of the week, preferably the end of the day. The simple truth behind it, is that we lose customers if we don't...

I know developing a game is more complicated, but it would be unacceptable to make us wait even longer then we already have.

Fact is its not just Bioware that has to fix it, they need to work with Sony and EA also.

Yeah you're right i'm just really p*ssed of about the situation and typing stuff out of anger, most of it I never meant, I know there will be fix eventually I would just appreciate a Bioware staff member to inform us about how they are progressing in fixing the problem.

Yeah cheers for telling us about that, wouldn't have thought about it but it seems to be working for me. I've been playing about 4 hours now with no freezing or crashing

Just reporting that I'm having the same trouble as y'all. What a ****. This is my third time round for Dragon Age and am sorely disappointed with all the damn freezing. Hopefully the fix is soon here.

Jeez some people really need to read the posts from page 1 Bioware did respond! They said they are working on it so just chill play another game until they post again. Repeating the same thing over and over again wont change anything

Okay, I finished Fade and Mages quest, 0 freezes.

I installed patch manually after restoring default settings. I have connection off, playing with usb cabel connected to my pad.

So far, so good.

I'm considering on asking a refund on DA Origins AND Awakening as I have bought this game with the expansion pack (£32 is ALOT for expansion pack compared to xbox 360 price of £15). I have loved playing DA yet it is dissapointed with the lack of help and support towards consumers.

Yet I will hold off for about 1-2 more weeks yet my collection of games are getting thin due to I completing them whilst DA being down. SO please sort this "SLOW" progressing investigation and speed it up as I'm getting more impatient by the days.

I know you're trying your best yet I am thinking your slacking. I am a great customer of Bioware due to I "Buying all of the addons" which would equal to an amount of about £90-100. This would be a massive dissapointment if i am having to redo Dragon Age Origins and Awakening as I've spent weeks, possibly 2-3 months, on playing Dragon age. I hope this problem can be resolved.

PS: Almost completed God of war 3 2 times in a period of 4 days of getting it, so please hurry up.

What/where is the manual patch people are referring to? I thought it was my old 80g ps3 overheating or a bad disk, but it's only been freezing since the firmware update.

I'll quote this a million times if I have to. He's right everyone. Bioware have responded numerous times. They aren't mages, they can't just magic a fix from nowhere. (see what I did there? :P) Before they can even fix this, they need to replicate the problem on their dev kits, which isn't an easy task since this problem seems to be so random.

Why are you using your Dragon Age disc as collateral? You do know that Bioware plays a very little role in this error right? It's not just Dragon Age that has been affected with the new firmware. Other games have too. Sony is the ones that made this firmware and are the ones that hold most of the...blame (I don't want to use this word so much). And what bothers me the most is that they DENY the fact that the firmware is messing games up by saying "They haven't received many complaints of the firmware."

I think he means the firmware update. One of the temporary fixes is to reinstall 3.30. There hasn't been a patch for DA, as far as I know.

That may be true, or they are so busy trying to fix the problem with how the game data clashes with the update that they dont have time to post. Also, I found that having the subtitles turned off helps keep it from freezing as well as being signed out.

Goodness. I've been incessantly playing MAG for the last month or so, but had hoped to come back to DAO and DAA during my upcoming vacation. Looks like that's a no-go option until Sony/EA/Bioware figure out what the issue(s) is and send out a fix to their customers.

Seems others are having luck with that as well...

I tried playing it this morning and on the FINAL part (DONT WORRY NO SPOILERS AS I HAVENT COMPLETED It YET!!!!!!!) And literally whenever I choose the whole party it freezes, when I turn around to go up the stairs to the keep it freezes, when I am in an area with too many bots it freezes, in total (before I got anoyed enough just to stop bothering) its frozen 5 times in succession. I have a question, if you do a full format to your ps3 does it reset to OS back to its original release, like re-installing windows etc. This would be an answer I would really appreciate an answer to, many thanks in advance!Posted Image

Not sure if anyone answered you but you should do a backup first before doin a full format as it clears your HDD then you have to do a restore to get back what was there originally.  As for the version you have to put v3.30 back on.  There is no going back to 3.15 or 3.21.  Note that trophies on IDs without PSN access are LOST as they were not sync'ed.
