I can assure you that I talked to my (German) friends here which are playing Dragon Age on the ps3. And there are 5 (all) of them, plus me, and we are all encountering the freeze problem ever since the firmware update! And I am very upset myself because this makes you think that they don't even take this seriously.jaqe wrote...
I can't believe someone thinks otherwise just because some people didn't experience freezes!
They probably don't own DA:O to start with so they're not freezing.

Also those people that have only just bought the game, don't sell you PS3 (or DA for that matter) just because one game is temporarily broken. Thats just silly. I'm sorry, but it is. This will eventually get fixed. Before the update, the game ran fine with virtually no issues. You guys have just been extremely unlucky that the one time the game breaks, its just after you've bought it. I feel for you guys, I really do but you just have to wait for a fix.
Placing the blame on people, saying you're going to sell your Playstation (or throw it out the window) and re-gurgtating information thats been posted numerous times before is not going to help solve this. We all just have to be patient. The weekend is almost over which means Bioware and/or Sony are going to be hard at work trying to fix this for us soon enough.

Well, there's is not other option for Bioware, they need to fix this - they can't leave their game not working LOL.

That's like the most worthless(yet quite well written) crap I've read for quite some time.
Sure it's a pure coincidence that a lot of PS3s(definately way more than the peeps that actually post here or on any forum) suddenly start freezing on some games right after the 3.3 firmaware update.
That would mean a lot of coincidence...not only the sheer number of consoles that were affected at the same time but only for some games.
Well you gotta love how those "brilliant" minds try to help...I for one don't want that kind of help.
You know there are some people that might actually believe what he wrote. I'm not saying that no PS3 coincedently died right after the firmware update, sure that might happen for a few, but than those consoles wouldn't play any games at all anymore.
I bet that guy has no clue about anything inside the PS3 nor about software engineering at all.

Turning the console off and on while trying to play this game can not be good and I can no longer do it. Here's hoping a fix is found soon.

Its a regular occurance that people who are not experiencing a problem that many other people are experiencing go out of their way to research and look for reasons why it would be our fault that our ps3's are freezing.
These are people who like to stir up trouble otherwise known as "trolls' on forums.
Although I never understood why people who are not experienceing these problems don't want the people who are having them to get help on the problem. It just doesn't make sense, but the funny part is that these same people who make these posts telling everyone that "if your system is messed up its your fault" would be yelling louder than we are begging for a fix.
Its funny how the world works....

That's it for me. All the tips and suggestions in this thread just don't work for me. It's hard to get into the game when you don't know when it will suddently freeze. No more Dragon Age until they get a fix.

I'm with you on that, and is it just me or is this thread going in circles?

We've tried every possible workaround, nobody is getting consistent results, and no matter what it freezes eventually.
So lets just give it a rest and wait until Bioware/Sony patches it.

I sneezed on my PS3 once. Perhaps that is why it doesn't work. It's all my fault!!

That's why they removed the card reader, to put the sneeze sensor in.

Seems for me that disabling myself from the internet via network options fixed the problem. Strange! (Also how the hell do you kill Flemeth)

Update applied = No
Dragon Age installed = Yes
DA Problems = None ( on my PS3 )
Problems with other games = No
Update applied = Yes
Dragon Age installed = Yes
DA Problems = Yes
Problems with other games = No
Lets see there are PS3s out there with no problems that did not put the update on and don't have DAO.
They are excluded.
There are PS3 that did not update but have DAO and some have problems and some do not.
Now there are the PS3 that did update and now DAO is effectively unplayable.
If anyone has upgraded to v3.30 and has not had any problems with DAO / FF13 saves / or any game please post. (If you have to stay offline you count as having problems.)
The only reason Bioware is looking into this is that they have retail machines in their offices and they froze.
Only when a Sony exec with a retail PS3 in their home freezes will Sony own up and this is a low probability.
It will take some time for the EA/Bioware team to get information from Sony about the update to verify that the changes made caused the grief.

I hope we get some good news by tomorrow or tuesday. Its kinda bad when DA:O is the only game really in my PS3 collection atm that i like.
I know what you mean. My PS3 might as well have been called that Dragon Age machine because that is pretty much all I play on it( well that and Demon's Souls)
Now this is weird, my games have been freezing up nearly every five minutes since the firmware update. However today while I was playing the game actually crashed, all I got was a black screen and the PS3 was locked up. When I restarted the game later it hasn't crashed since. I played for nearly three hours without the game freezing once, just some minor slowdown. Very odd.

I've played offline for the whole time i was building my warrior. I think its all random theres no patterns i've seen witch leads me to believe the bioware servers are the problem. I think online your playstations tries to contact the bioware servers to send information from your journeys in ferelden to the servers here at this website. Then your playstations when your signed out try to check if it can transfer data to this website. Why do different ps3s freeze at different times? This is a question i have been pondering on and i think although your signed out you still have internet connection. I know this cause i re-downloaded awakening offline. But if you have a internet connection thats not very fast highspeed internet or not this does not mean its going to run fast. Thats why people still signed out freeze either more or less depending on the internets speed but signed in to psn it trys to transfer data every 30minutes or so. Its not the model of the ps3 does not make the difference. Thats my theory once agian with a few new ideas think of it what you will. I stand behind it theres no other reason for why its freezing every six hours or every 30mins online.
