It freezes on me with my femail human rogue more often then with my male mage. I doubt it has anything to with the created character. As for deleting save games, it is totally unnessesary as I stated in one of my earlier comment: I have a brand new ps3, and had to start the game from scratch, and it is freezing!

Ok so any character would experience freezing then...what about the weird wait when booting the game? I get to the Dragon Age startup screen just fine but waiting for the saves to load ("Checking Save Data" screen) takes around 5-7 minutes. Unlike before, it checks the saves for a minute or so then it checks the downloadable content. Is it my imagination or did v3.30 have something to do with it?

For now I'm going to play GTA: Episodes from LIberty City to tide me over...I played for around 3 hours last night with no problems whatsoever. I still want to finish Awakening though. >_< I;m just scared my PS3 will go poof because of all the restarts from DAO.

I just found this:
boardsus.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-3-Updates/Can-you-explain-this/m-p/45600930

That is terrible, the obvious riposte would be to ask him to present someone who is running Dragon Age ok after the 3.30 update but they probably wouldn't understand or listen.

I just congratulated them on finding the fix.  ^_^

"Wow! Your airtight logic and anecdote about your personal experience fixed my PS3!  Thanks, random internet person!

Yeah, see, my issue is with Dragon Age vs the firmware update. As are most people's issues, if we're to believe the *largest thread ever* here on the Bioware forums: http://social.biowar.../index/2379427/

We've been looking for possible workarounds. It hadn't occurred to any of us that we could just have some random internet person post and rationalize our completely reproducible issue out of existence!

Thanks for your help!"

While Playing DAO system
seems to freeze up. When I first beat the game had no issues. I recently did a
update to the3.30 update. Since I have done this update the system continues to
freeze up while playing DAO.  It seems to freeze up at save points and it
seems to freeze up right after coming off of a video or character interaction
that is built in to the game its self. I noticed when it freezes up that the
controls stop responding and the music continues to pay in the background for a
minute or two. Then the music stops and nothing after that point. This is an
awsome game and a real shame that this keeps happening. I"m looking
forward to buying the 2nd part to this game but if this is a issue that is
going to effect the 2nd part then I might have to reconsider. Any new updates
or fixes to this would be greatly appreciated.

I didn't scroll through all 45 pages here, so not sure if this has already been mentioned but a simple quick fix I tried that lessened the frequency of the dreaded post 3.30 patch freeze was the following: hard/manual reset by holding down button on system for about 10 seconds (wait for beeps). Instead of originally crashing twice in half an hour, I was able to finish my Awakenings playthrough for the final few hours w/o incident. Supposedly hooking up your controller so that it's no longer wireless is another option to minimize freezing, but that's just something I read on another forum and didn't need to try on my end. Hopefully we'll get a patch that fixes it for good.

I can vouch for this temporary fix. Another thing I've coupled it with is saving at every turn in my game. Annoying, true, but at least if it does end up freezing I don't start too far behind. Hope it helps, at least until a real patch comes out.

I'm beginning to wonder if there's a patch/fix coming out. They might think since we can still play the game there's no need for it, and maybe it fixes itself with the next sony firmware update.:crying:

Thought I'd sign up to say that I'm having the exact same problem. It's crashed three times in a row trying to get through the same section of Deep Roads now. It hadn't crashed once in over 70 hours of playtime in several playthroughs before installing the firmware update.

Whether there's a lot going on on screen or not doesn't seem to affect the issue - it happened once in combat and twice whilst just walking around.

This had better get fixed soon, because 3.30 has rendered the game wholly unplayable.

Edit: I noticed that audio playing through the crash is a common feature, and this happens for me too. It won't start any new audio after the clip finishes playing, but music and conversation pieces will play through to the end even after the game becomes unresponsive. Don't know if that helps any.

As I said, I have put my DAO on the shelf until an official fix is put out  but I come back here to check to see if their is any news.

I noticed a lot of post about "temporary fixes" . Seems to me those "fixes" can not be good for the console. Hard resets, power on and off....all this could be harming  to the system.

I have other games to play and don't think it's worth doing all those different procedures to the console just to try to play a game that is broken.

All I am saying is, make sure you don't create more problems than we already have.

DAO is a great game but it's not worth screwing up the console. The patch will be out, I for one, will wait for it.

Agreed with TheDarkHuntress. It's not worth risking a potential system crash...

Or risk Sony breaking it even more. Nah. I'm sure they're working on it. Would be nice if Bioware would respond on this here thread to reassure us the problem is under investigation and taken (very!) seriously.

The last time was 6 days ago which is almost a week. A new update would be nice. But I guess they still don't know what caused it.

You may as well give up on that, we're going to keep seeing the same crap posted by new people everyday, probably because no one wants to sift through 45 pages of posts, however if they woould just scroll a few pages back from the one their posting on they would see that all of this crap has been posted a dozen times over again

"Dude", that was a near week ago. I'm just saying it'd be appreciated if someone from Bioware or at very least a Grey Warden of the Community would post here about any *progress*. The last post I remember on here was someone asking to send details concerning the issue. Sony is mortally quiet so we don't have to expect anyone to contact us about it directly, but it'd be *appreciated* if we got any status update. I work in the IT business, half my job depends on providing updates on cases we're working on for our customers ;) and the other half is actually fixing stuff.

I think Bioware is based out of Edmonton (ie Western Canada for those unfamiliar with the geography). Like I mentioned last weekend don't expect to hear from anyone over the weekends cuz they just plain don't work on weekends. Considering their time zone is in the MST, those of us in the EST never hear from them till like after 2pm (est) so give them a let them get a chance to get in the bloody offices.

They're at least trying to do more than Sony and their plausible deniability.

You lie, you're the 360 fanboy who has done nothing but slate Sony on this thread.
