heh, i feel like we're being paid by bioware to stand up for them XDD. J/k Love ya Bioware! If Bioware cant fix it, sony wont even bother.
lol
You're just a kindred spirit who's as sick as I am hearing about people's threats to boycott Bioware, sell their PS3s, send back DOA games, and just generally flame the boards looking to draw as much attention to themselves because they're bored.
Seriously though if people don't have anything valid or useful to interject into this now overflooded topic, please STFU, play another game, wait like the rest of us for a fix and stop your bloody complaining. The game is unplayable right now. Big deal. We all know this. No need to keep beating it into the ground.

I doubt it has anything to do with the character you create. I have a mage and a human female rogue, and they freeze. And it has gotten worse lately!! I don't even get 5 minutes of gameplay anymore, before I was at least able to play half an hour or so. As much as I hate to do it, DA came out of my ps3 for now. It is just too frustrating!Jonas1974 wrote...
don;t know if it helps, but the game only crashes when i play my Mage......i got tired of reloading all the time so i started a warrior, and have played straight through until level 10 with not even a single freeze...
i dunno......i am still playing the warrior, and still no freeze......but every once and a while i try the mage again.....and bam! it freezes

This is it? No code review or other forms of troubleshooting/debugging? Nothing else at all?Victor Wachter wrote...
We are, in fact, still working on the issue. Last week, we reached out to a number of people experiencing the issue to get further information to help us in resolving it. We're in touch with Sony to coordinate a resolution.
That's all I have for now. But we'll keep working on it!
It's been almost two weeks since 3.30 (April 21). This lack of support is truly pathetic.
Am I glad that I didn't spend a dime on Awakening yet...
You do realize we're lucky to hear anything from Bioware right? They could very easily say "screw you all" and not have any contact with us what so ever until there's a fix, and even then they're not obligated to alert us, and there is no way to troubleshoot the problem they already tried that and all the half-assed temporary fixes have already been posted all over this thread (like literally everywhere click on any random page and I guarantee you'll find atleast one)
This is Sony's screw up Bioware doesn't really have to do anything (although it would be stupid of them not to) but they certainly don't have to post on the forum to reassure us they're working on it, you should just quit your damn complaining put the game down wait for the fix to come out and be happy we've recieved any information at all
i agree

Someone has to keep saying its Sony's fault should be getting on thier backs till they give us a ladder

Just a note to whoever at Bioware is paying attention, altough it happened at the party camp, where is really seemed to lock up with some predictability was when running around the Circle Tower. I was basically just running around trying to grab stuff that wouldn't fit in my inventory before, conversations seemed fine but that running around locked it up every time.
I'm in the Circle right now, it froze a few times at Lothering. (Then I went through the world map to Denerim where it froze once after going to the smithy, then to Calenhad and the Circle without any crashes at all). Now in the Fade and so far it hasn't crashed on me at all during the bits of the Fade that I played so far. I am, however, saving every 4, 5 minutes at most or after any battle I might think I'll perish at the next time I have to do it

Not just the potential for hdd corruption but the repeated heating and cooling of the components caused by freezes and resets could cause problems, especially in older more ylod prone consoles.

is there any sort of reason you actually found that contributed to it that can help us in the meantime?

Fallout was doing that as well. I only recently got that for the PS3, Friday I think it was. I went and got the PC version of that because every new game I made, it would freeze when you take the GOAT exam. Same spot every time, with no trophies unlocked, and more than enough space on the hdd.
DAO does it seemingly at random in every case I've had. New games just starting the Origin, in the Fade, in Ostagar, in Lothering. Freezed so much that I only got the Dalish elves part in the game before I finally just got fed up. That's about when I got the PC version from Steam on about Sunday/Saturday around there. Seems my first play through will be done on the PC.. shame really, because the PS3 version has been said to be just as good as the PC version. I thought it was anyway, graphic wise the PC is far and away better, but still the PS3 version is just as good. Stupid firmware won't let me enjoy it.
On an aside, I did experience freezing before 3.3, as I recall it would freeze in much of the same spots (randomly) as the game does in 3.3, just no where near as frequent. I have no idea what would cause it. It would do it once or twice every 5 or so hours of play time. I know it happened on all the origins I made on the PS3, but again, they weren't as bad back then. I would also experience the freezes even when disconnected from the internet, with no connection what-so-ever, but that was one time that I can even remember.
At any rate, it's just a shame that it hurts the confidence that you guys at Bioware have now with Sony. I know I wouldn't be very confident releasing content to a company that spits our shoddy firmware. Maybe that's coming off a bit strong, and probably a lot of frustration speaking that.
Here's to hoping this get's fixed. I'm a bit mad I bought both DAO and Fallout 3 and experiencing this problem, and then going out to purchase the PC versions so I can experience them like I should be on the PS3. Oh well.. hope you guys at Bioware spend my money wisely on Star Wars. Seriously, I've spent probably close to 250 dollars on you guys, but that's not a bad thing, I'm a pretty dire hard Bioware fan.

Saving the Game often seems to help a lot for me.
I save after just about every battle or if a lot of things happened in the game I'll save.
I played Saturday and Sunday and had maybe 4 freezes. Better then it happening every few minutes. And I try and move sort of slower and I make sure my party catches up to me. Seemed to help. I will save a lot anyways on these types of games.
But still it did freeze up on me a few times. Usually when there was a lot of action going on which sucked.
i saved after every encounter, and after collecting any loot in the werewolf ruins under the brecilian forest... it seemed to crash more often.
the more i saved the more it would crash... and the more it crashed the more i would save.
now im out of that area the game hasnt crashed once.... and maybe partly because im not having to save as often.. because the game isnt crashing.

@ Rumtruffle: or because not being in a dungeon you get less loot so you're inventory is not full as when exploring ruins and such.
