I guess I should come to the forums more frequently. My game started locking up on me as I was preparing for the final battle at Ft Draken. I was in the 2nd floor room right by the tower stairs and started configuring for the battle, and wham, lockup. Reboot, relaunch and same thing several minutes later.
So I went to Bioware's tech support site and started a chat. The first guy told me to delete my game data after backing up my saved data. Funny, he must not have a PS3 to play with for his tech support, as you can't back up your game data! The files are all locked! Yikes, what happens if my PS3 console fails. All that time spent building characters and saving data is lost if you can't back up.
Any way, that didn't work, so I went back to chat again with a second guy. His end result was that he would have to elevate it to the next level, whatever that is. Again, come on. No PS3 to even try things out on for tech support? Oh well, what do you expect from a call center that is likely in a 3rd world country.
So playing around with this myself, I reloaded a saved file from Ostagar in the Proving Grounds. I saved one there so I could play with tactics and AI on my characters and figure out some good moves. No freezes at all.
Back to Ft Draken; I immediately moved my team from the 2nd floor steps to the roof back through the corridors, past the "dining room" and into the hallway before the stairs up to the higher level of the 2nd floor. Halting there I started doing some of the same things I was doing before and no freezes. Been there now for about 30 minutes and everything is fine!
Gotta be something that the PS3 is doing interactively with the disk in different locations and the code in the game interacting with the PS3 with it's new software update. Who knows?
Anyone played out the final battle with no freezes since the update? One wants to know before hibernating for several months while I wait for a solution. (sorry to be so wordy, but frustration at all of this!)
