Always negitive. the fact that they view this as an important issue is awesome. A dex bug doesn't make a game unplayable. Be happy this is really good news!.Means a patch will be here soon.

On PS3. Seems like those gameplay bugs were important on pc and xbox...(or could it be that the community itself made a dexterity mod/fix that got "copied" into the patch.

Yes its a firmwire bug its no glitch in the game theres some conflict coding going on.

Hopefully we see a patch in a week or so. Now we know bioware is taking this serously and is working hard on it. Hopefully testing doesn't take to long. After all new DAO DLC comes out this month so i've heard :).

Although sony can be a bit of an ass. That doesn't mean you should sell your consel. Do you want a DVD and blueray player with amazing graphics and good exclusives and soon be able to do more then the wii can?
Or do you want a Dated Xbox that only uses dvd disks and DAO is even worse on there read the customor support forum. Just cause one game is broken doesn't mean you should sell your ps3. Im with the bloodmage on this one.Posted Image

But since this has to move across so many hands (BW/EoR -> EA -> SCE), can we get at least an estimate date for it? Or will it be TBA?

I still think the patch will be released shortly before the new DLC. If they bring out the content with the problems ppl are having, then no one will want to download anything else. But I may be wrong...

1.02

Daggers now apply 0.5 points of damage per additional point in dexterity and 0.5 points of damage per additional point in strength, as originally intended. This increases dagger damage for high-dexterity characters.
During combat, mana or stamina reserves now correctly regenerate more quickly when reserves are low. This allows players to occasionally use an talent or spell in the later stages of lengthy fights.
When exploring, mana and stamina now regenerate more quickly at higher character levels. This reduces downtime between fights.
The spells Force Field, Crushing Prison, Cone of Cold, and Blizzard now have shorter durations and/or longer cooldowns. This ensures that combatants can no longer stun-lock each other by repeatedly casting the same spell.
The cooldowns for several low-level sustained abilities are now shorter. This ensures that players are not penalized for accidentally deactivating them.
Certain battles were not scaling properly, resulting in excessively difficult fights. They now scale as intended.
Enemy corpses now drop health poultices and money more appropriately, resulting in less clutter in the player's inventory.
Gameplay
In rare cases, enemy corpses were selectable when they contained no loot. This no longer occurs.
Party members whose combat tactics were set to defensive behavior no longer stop attacking after using a spell or talent.
In rare cases, combat tactics conditions could fail to determine whether a character had enough mana or stamina to use an ability. This no longer occurs.
The Rally talent no longer repeats its audio effect if it is active during certain conversations.
The Rally talent no longer deactivates upon area transitions or conversations.
The Shimmering Shield spell now deactivates when the character is out of mana.

Thanks for your patience with all of this.

Since this happened, we've pulled additional programmers from the main game teams to help on this and have been running several parallel investigations non-stop to find potential solutions from our end, as well as continuing to work with Sony for both dev support and other options.

Thanks to the great feedback on here and from those folks we've been in contact with directly, the team now thinks we've been able to find a code-side workaround from our end to patch DA to play nicer with firmware 3.3, which was one of our investigation threads.

At this time I still don't have a date estimate for a DA patch with this fix however, and unfortunately we do not believe there is a manual workaround for this (one of the other threads we're investigating).

We are currently testing this proposed code change as I write this, and if successful the next step will be for it to go into EA's publisher side certification testing. They are aware of the importance of this and will give this priority in the queue of titles/patches across EA. And once that clears, it will go into Sony cert testing.

Sorry, wish I had better news to offer already - but progress is being made and I'll continue to update as we know more.

Awsome!!!!:o
Will the next patch fix the framerate issues too?^_^

Hello Jonas,

We apologize if this has caused you any inconvenience or concern. The information available to our Consumer Services Department does not suggest that this is a problem PlayStation® owners are likely to experience with the 3.30 update and these titles. Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) strongly supports the quality of its products and backs them with full confidence. At this time we do not have any information regarding a patch for this issue. Please rest assured that we will convey your feedback to Sony Computer Entertainment America's ("SCEA") appropriate management.

If Bioware works on a patch we don't need one from Sony. As long as we can play again!! And I'm sure they are stressing the issue esp. since the new DLC is coming out in about two weeks or so.

I heard the patch will bring a new set of trophies:

Lucky: Completed an origin story without crashes

Fast Killer: Killed 100 darkspawn between 2 freezes

Interrupted: had a freeze during a romance with Morrigan

Haha.. I´d think twice before doing that.. Friend of mine has a xbox, and he wasn´t too happy when they came out with an update that was corrupted. He lost all of his Bad company saves. Face it. u gonna get problems with whatever platform u use.. Although the grass does seem greener on the other side......

POSS FIX?

Has anyone been able to try the 2 saved game test fix at all?

I'm using two game save slots (deleted others) and not moving during saves and haven't had a crash or freeze for 9 hours straight, with a reboot test and 2 hour play. I don't have time to test it properly so need others to try.

**Update** Curses, must've been a fluke yesterday as been freezing within 15mins of play today. Very odd

I only ever use 2 save slots per character (old habits die hard), and yet the game freezes for me - but not very often (once or twice a day, if I play the entire day).

I haven't read the entire thread so I'm not sure if this has been said yet but has anyone noticed if there are parts in the game where it crashes more easily?

Personally (I'm quite stubborn and I've continued playing even with the freezing problem, saving very often and avoiding situations in which it seemed to crash more often) I've found that it crashes specially in the Tower of the Circle of Mages(specially in the first floor, I was unable to finish the Summoning Sciences side quest because of that) and some places of Denerim, but works quite fine in RedCliffe and the Urn of Sacred Ashes scenario, as well as the DLCs Return to Ostagar and Soldier's Peak (I haven't been in Orzammar and the Elven Forest in this playthrough yet). It also tends to crash when you spend a lot of time organizing the inventory (which is rather upseting, of course). Actually, once I finished the Broken Circle quest, playing is almost normal (only crashing after 2-3 hours of playing, which is a good excuse to leave it and have a rest...)

Then the only real bottleneck in the process could be Sony not approving the fix. I've heard that Sony can be quite a *peep* when it comes to accepting updates/patches. This process could still take up to a week at least(longer if it's not accepted).

Can we expect other fixes in this patch? Or can we expect a new patch in the near future, for some of the other bugs mentioned.

Thanks for the update in any case. This is some good news at last.

Edit: towards reece:

Sometimes, despite all your efforts a bug can't be fixed within a day, or even a week. I've had this problem happen to me before. In the end you pull more developers towards the bug and try to resolve it with a team effort. This is exactly what Bioware has done. Despite the timetable... Bioware did everything by the book.

Sometimes, you need to let go. Can't control everything...

You'd rather they say nothing? Or perhaps you'd like to hear "go eff yourselves" instead? Let's have a little more patience.

What?? Are you honestly TRYING to sugest that the fact that they haven't fixed problem in 2 weks is acceptable? Please leave this thread for adults and try to learn gain some knowledge in customer service!

My life is not so ruled by a video game that I can't live without it for two weeks. I would get irate around the 6 month mark.

I very much doubt that it takes six months...that's when the "first bugs" revealed their ugly head. Of course this only concerns the PS3 platform, as other platforms have already been patched.

I know that Sony's certification process is a slow one compared to others, but SLOW isn't two weeks. Even more funny is how EA/Bioware says it's a 1st priority. Hah! If it was 1st priority and coders pulled from other projects...it would be done already. All this is following the same style they started when DOA launched on PS3....late, everything is late, including patches, dlc and well...everything.

Hey Bioware, I hope you guys can bring the patch soon. I hadn't picked up DA in a little while, and was really looking forward to playing it today, only to find out about this bug.

I am sure you guys are working hard and all, but have those dwarves and gnomes bang on your giant steam-powered serves extra harder. Might help.
