The extremely long save time was caused by a lot of saves. I personally would start DA:O and have to wait a good 2-3 minutes. I had 100 saves, each 3000-7000 kb, so I guess that was the problem. I went to my save data manager and deleted all but 2 of the saves, started DA:O again, and it went past the "checking save data" in about 5 seconds.vonFurious wrote...
I finally manned- up and installed Sony Firmware 3.30.
I played DA: Origins with a level 18 Mage for approximately 2.5 hrs and......
.... no freezes.
I disabled the internet connection on my Ps3 before booting up the game. Played a little bit of Awakenings, and the longer session with Origins. The only issue I have encountered is an incredibly long loading time during the "Checking Saved Games" portion of the intro screen.
80 gig, fatty with 16g available. Firmware 3.30, DA: Origins, Awakenings, and all other DLC & Updates installed. Awakenings was purchased as a download from PSN, and I have experienced noticeable improvement in performance (less framerate jitters, less slow-down) since I purchased and downloaded Awakenings.

I feel like I'm reiterating myself a litte, but:
1. The patch notes for 1.02a for PC states that many of the balance, gameplay and plot scripting fixes are already in place for the Xbox and PS3 versions.
2. The patch notes for 1.03 on PC and 1.01 on PS3 are almost identical.
This has lead me to assume that 1.01 on PS3 and 1.03 on PC are pretty much the same stage in the patching process - just different version numbers for the different platforms.
Well, you see,
In rare cases, enemy corpses were selectable when they contained no
loot. This no longer occurs
This happens to me all the time. And I have reason to believe that the scaling and mana regeneration problems still do, too. Also, my Rogue would always receive damage boosts when adding Cunning (Lethality FTW), but not for Dex. So no. The patches are not identical, and not everything is fixed.
Besides, if what you said in 1. is true, then the 360 version would be in 1.01 too, not 1.03.
But I digress. Bioware is having the decency of admitting the game has a problem (which they don't need to, because it's Sony's fault) and they are fixing it (which is Sony's job). That's great, really. And I don't really worry about how long it takes, only if it works.
Anyhow, what are the chances we are getting the fixes of 1.03 together with this patch?

At least my DAO saves are not yet broken.
Any update?

i am sure you are aware of the freezing/crashing issues associated with firmware update 3.30 and some game titles. do you have any information concerning when a fix/patch will be available?
Response (Nicole M.) 05/04/2010 08:28 PM
Hello Jonas,
We apologize if this has caused you any inconvenience or concern. The information available to our Consumer Services Department does not suggest that this is a problem PlayStation® owners are likely to experience with the 3.30 update and these titles. Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) strongly supports the quality of its products and backs them with full confidence. At this time we do not have any information regarding a patch for this issue. Please rest assured that we will convey your feedback to Sony Computer Entertainment America's ("SCEA") appropriate management.
Regards,
Nicole M.

I am not sure why you are not aware of any issues.....the message boards have been full of complaints regarding compatibility of Dragon Age:Origins in particular. On the Bioware forums, this is the latest response from their devs:
Thanks for your patience with all of this.
Since this happened, we've pulled additional programmers from the main game teams to help on this and have been running several parallel investigations non-stop to find potential solutions from our end, as well as continuing to work with Sony for both dev support and other options.
Thanks to the great feedback on here and from those folks we've been in contact with directly, the team now thinks we've been able to find a code-side workaround from our end to patch DA to play nicer with firmware 3.3, which was one of our investigation threads.
At this time I still don't have a date estimate for a DA patch with this fix however, and unfortunately we do not believe there is a manual workaround for this (one of the other threads we're investigating).
We are currently testing this proposed code change as I write this, and if successful the next step will be for it to go into EA's publisher side certification testing. They are aware of the importance of this and will give this priority in the queue of titles/patches across EA. And once that clears, it will go into Sony cert testing.
Sorry, wish I had better news to offer already - but progress is being made and I'll continue to update as we know more.

Hello Jonas,
We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced regarding the software freezing. Unfortunately, we have no information regarding when the release of the update for the software will be released.
Regards,
TszKam W.
As you can see, Sony is just denying any problem exists, and when shown in their face, they pass the buck AGAIN by simply stating they don't know when an update is coming.

If you sell your playstation cause of 1game thats going to be fixed then your a fool. Do you think microsoft is any better? I heard about that map packs and the patch made it so the game couldn't be played. You need to just be patient and get a copy of GOW3 get all the trophies for it then come back to DAO and it'll be fixed.
if it was just one game i'd agree with you......but it isn't.......i also have found that in online games such as COD:MW2, the are a FAR more people online on Xbox360 than PS3, making it easier to find full games, especially at late hours. And, I am very picky about what games i actually play.....i don't even like GOW3......the only games i actually play are DA:O, COD:MW2, Assassins Creed 2, and Guitar Hero 5, so I actually only bought the PS3 to play a very select number of games on

That is the case with all first level Customer Support. Ever call Comcast? They have a huge problem w/ crappy DNS servers. So well known people have coded up workarounds like 4 years ago.
Have a problem w/ your DNS< call comcast? All you get is spam offers about upgrading to Showtime

Thanks for the update, that's exactly how it goes at my work too. Even when we find CRITICAL bugs that require immediate attention, we still have to sit and wait for everything to clear. The worst is getting testing resources, for some reason that is the hugest time sink. We have a bunch of Validation engineers hanging around chatting up Soccer on their MacBooks and Iphones. I *know* they have time. But the red tape is atrocious

Well I noticed I have not updated my FW to the latest yet last night, I've been playing KOTOR II lately so haven't checked my PS3 in a few weeks...
At least my DAO saves are not yet broken.
Any update?
Sexxy Haexy-
Did you update to 3.30? You shouldn't have any problems if you haven't yet.
If you did, well you might not have any problems anyway.
Good to see you still around!

I still fear the update will take a life for sony not accepting it (it would means they screwed up with the firmware, thing they did in past too with some upgrade that bricked many ps3,but they said it was just a massive hardware fail.Oh yes,and they replied that god blessed them with undeniable "we never fail" skill).
Still,it's strange that in 2 weeks they didn't find anything.I could understand this on a pc.But ps3 has standard coding and standard hardware,so it should be a lot quick making a fix..
And..turn-around?That means that it wouldn't fix the problem but it will simply (for now) avoid it to show up,maning that at the next upgrade we could be back at the start of this crazy, laughable mess that sony created?

I played mw2 the other day it works fine. Also i can put money you never have even been willing to try GOW3. Also ps3 is just a better system because of blueray and better exclusives also you can just do more with playstation. Also how is xbox360 easier online with mw2? there the same except xbox has crossgame chat. Also assassins creed2 and GH5 work the same on ps3 as they do on xbox360. Go back to xbox if you want i cant stop you but when it dies or you have no money to pay for live or it wakes you up cause its so loud at night dont come crawling back to ps3. Im tired former xbox360 gamers on here that have ps3s now and 1 little thing goes wrong and they rant about selling it. Yet they'll be fine with turning there 360s back to microsoft 15times and wont say a word please dont post here anymore about how you are going to sell your ps3 its really annoying.

Bioware has to fix this code side. So even tho Sony is a huge mess of red tape and inneffective soon to fail gaming company, Bioware can push this patch through EA quickly. And then Sony will sit on it for 3 weeks.
We can hope that that the DAO patch comes up before the next epically flawed Firmware update.

Yeah and this kind of kills the PSN store too. Oh well. I can still get game patches, but I wont be upgrading FW for at least another few months.
If sony isn't going to regression test FW updates, I won't be doing it for free for them.
