A patch to fix the frequent crashing issue that's plagued
PlayStation 3 players of Dragon Age: Origins since the release of
firmware 3.3 is currently being tested by BioWare, though an actual
release date is still up in the air.
According to a posting on the official BioWare forums by online
producer Fernando Melo, the team working on the PS3 crashing issue has
finally come up with a solution, thanks in no small part to player
feedback.
Unfortunately there could still be a long wait ahead for patchThanks to the great feedback on here and from those folks we've been
in contact with directly, the team now thinks we've been able to find a
code-side workaround from our end to patch DA to play nicer with
firmware 3.3, which was one of our investigation threads.
hopefuls.
Still, it's good to know relief is in sight, right? Hold on, they'reWe are currently testing this proposed code change as I write this,
and if successful the next step will be for it to go into EA's publisher
side certification testing. They are aware of the importance of this
and will give this priority in the queue of titles/patches across EA.
And once that clears, it will go into Sony cert testing.
coming.

As I said...could be like that too. Then all the blame is on Bioware.

Well one has to remember that the 3.30 firmware might not be faulty, but only bringing up the faulty code in DAO. Sony could have just changed some older code to a new one, which shouldn't have been used in a certain way in the first place. In DAO they might have used the "wrong way" and it worked because Sony wasn't using it. Now they are and DAO is in trouble, but it's not Sony's "fault" because Bioware did wrongly from the beginning.

No, it's not about whose fault it is. That never solves anything. The issue is, why did this happen? Where is the flaw in the process?
The flaw in the process is obvious. Sony sends out FW updates, but does not allow publishers to test the FW on live boxes

Well my friend, every place i look for information on this, people that work with hardware and even software says that update on bios should be donne only if its really needed. I dont see a godlike reason for a update that brings me 3D for the tvs that they didnt even release yet.

My current understanding is I should have first tried deleting game data. Never the less it's my hope that the freezing stops. If not, hopefull the software fix will be release soon. I can stand to play through the game again.

I heard the patch will bring a new set of trophies:
Lucky: Completed an origin story without crashes
Fast Killer: Killed 100 darkspawn between 2 freezes
Interrupted: had a freeze during a romance with Morrigan
Lol I like.
I wouldn't mind a freeze there

This must be really embarrassing for Bioware. Seriously, how long does it take to correct an error of this size which they made to fix something else in the first place?
How long has this thread been going? A while now if I remember correctly. What's the deal?

Last night I was able to use a character for hours with no problem. I made a new character today and the freezes are less than five minutes apart. I really can't understand how they would make an update this flawed without fixing it immediately. I guess I'm used to the online game I played where something like this would be fixed right away.

Ignorance isn't always bliss... They found a potential workaround. They're testing it as we speak.

It's not (only) Biowares fault. It all started with the firmware update. And I still strongly believe that the fix will come out right before the DLC is available! :happy:sangy wrote...
