Actually the 3D is very useful.. for giving people headaches and making people think bad movies are actually good (avatar) :)

nope,i think he meant thanks for the news of the test that are being made to fix the mess

You got it! Didn't think my post was that difficult to understand.  Secondly, I am FEMALE.  Not a "he".

Notice I am called HUNTRESS not HUNTER.

Now go have a nice day.

til this is resolved, I'm gonna go play enchanted arms! who's with me?! :-p  I'm not trying to flame, but I find it interesting seeing so many people ban together to bash a technical issue.  I understand people's pain in not being able to play ( I need my fix too) but, to say "that PS3 is worthless I'm getting an Xbox"  makes little to no sense to me.  As I own both I guess it's kind of pointless, but I feel that patience is necessary.  These things happen unfortunately, but that isn't going to make me hate on one system or another.  Each has it's own flaws, same with the companies.  Last I checked, Sony reps, aren't godly.  Granted, yes, the customer service end can be frustrating at times, but think about being in their shoes.  It's a customer service job, and as I'm in the same field, you'd be surprised how many people aren't completely understanding about a given product.  For example, I had overheard a customer complaint about how rock band 2 wasn't working for her child's playstation 2 and demanded that a new one be sent to her.  Upon gathering more information, the playstation 2 was a launch one and her kid was around 13.  With that said, the disc could be scratched quite easily, and upon asking, the error popping up was the "must be a sony disc blah blah blah."  So I guess ultimately I'm just saying give it time, have patience and stop the hating.  With that said I'm going to go play DAO for an hour and hopefully get about 20 minutes worth of actual game time in.  How's that for patience?  :-p

Oh and DarkHuntress, didn't you know? There's a bunch of 13 year olds trying to score a date with you now.

The thing that's messed up is that I never even tried to connect to the PSN before this, and I thought I might get some DLC for my newly purchased Dragon Age: Origins. I log onto the PSN for the first time and it updates me to 3.30. Now I'm having the same freezing as everyone else. So I'm gonna have to say to hell with an active internet connection. I'll go online with X-Box live, and keep my PS3 for personal gaming only. Not gonna risk having new firmware jack my stuff up every time I go online. Good job, Sony.

FFXII is awesome. FF purists bag on it, but IMO, it was the best FF game ever. No random encounters, full party control, full party development, lots of side quests, so so sooo much character customisation, gambit system .. I could go on and on. To top it all off, Square production value. I put well over 150 hours into my first play through of XII.

If you like FFXII .. give Rogue Galaxy a shot. Another fantastic, LONG, RPG. This one I really liked because of the fantasy / scifi / western setting. The cel-shaded look also fit the game really well. I loved collecting the different weapons and costumes for my party.

Since we're talking about Final Fantasy, (I love FFXII too), FFXIII should be renamed the death of a great series...

I just wanted to say ive been having this crashing issue for a couple of days now, ive had dragon age since day it came out and just recently started playing it again, i have all downloadable content and expansion. I can say that i havent had any crahes when playing the expansion or any other game. it is a complete system lockup that required a hard restart.  Last night I was playing it and just saved often to get by, after about 6 lockups that evening, i had a horrible shutdown.  the system completely turned off(1st time its done that for me) then when i went to restart the ps3, got the yellow light of death (ylod)  i figured it was due to overheating ( was playing it a bit that day), this morning, still ylod, i tried the simple quick fixes, nothing.  Ended up buying a new ps3slim and had lock ups with it too (again only with origins). I tried moving my hd from my old system to my new 1 to find out the hd itself has been corrupted (PS3 screen mentioned needing to reformat and blah blah). I believe this is from multiple lockups /hard resets.  I advise everyone else to not weather through the lockups like I did to prevent a hd failure.  I lost all my saved game data etc for all games.  So i now have a lvl 4 mage on my new ps3 slim whos parked until a patch comes out.

Edit: I just had an awakening expansion lock up in the same manner

OMG! This problem was worse then we first suspected. U should inform sony of this. They cant ignore this, if its causing PS3's to die.

Thanks for your patience with all of this.

Since this happened, we've pulled additional programmers from the main game teams to help on this and have been running several parallel investigations non-stop to find potential solutions from our end, as well as continuing to work with Sony for both dev support and other options.

Thanks to the great feedback on here and from those folks we've been in contact with directly, the team now thinks we've been able to find a code-side workaround from our end to patch DA to play nicer with firmware 3.3, which was one of our investigation threads.

At this time I still don't have a date estimate for a DA patch with this fix however, and unfortunately we do not believe there is a manual workaround for this (one of the other threads we're investigating).

We are currently testing this proposed code change as I write this, and if successful the next step will be for it to go into EA's publisher side certification testing. They are aware of the importance of this and will give this priority in the queue of titles/patches across EA. And once that clears, it will go into Sony cert testing.

Sorry, wish I had better news to offer already - but progress is being made and I'll continue to update as we know more.

So glad to hear this, kisses and hugs to all the wonderful programmers at Bioware:wub:.
A shame we get to wait a bit more for Sony to let them fix it.

Since i read some stuff about final fantasy here i just want to leave a hint for you guys:

Buy on psn final fantasy tactics for your ps3 if you didnt played (i think they are alredy selling for ps3). Best final fantasy ever in my opinion. I lost count on how many hours i play it..probably like 300 or more if i count the psp version - war of the lions. I just know everthing about that game. My second choose would be ff7.

I dont have any friends with fats, all have slims...is there anyway to copy the old saved games from the fat hd to the slim hd? or even verify the fat hd is still working? Most saved games i dont care about losing, the only 1 that required a lot of hours is dragon age ( i was just about to do the trademeet thing when this happened).

By looking on how much people are complaining about problems like this on Sony forum i would say they alredy know about this problem...And i read a very intersting post there from a guy that send his ps3 for Sony fix after the 3.30 firmware. The guy says he receive his ps3 back with a litle diference that make the system work again. Guess what is was? The system was back to 3.21 my friends. Yes, if this guy is telling the true on his post, they DOWNGRADE his system to make work again. And the guy was pretty pi.ssed about the fact that he paid about 150 bucks to get a downgrade. And for anyone that thinks that cant be donne... probably can but not by us. They probably can downgrade your system if needed. Then i was wondering: hmmm if its true, why deliver the guy the ps3 back on 3.21? If was corrupted data from his download they could have fixed and put in again the 3.30...you guys probably alredy took your conclusions on why...

Again i must say i cant confirm if its true. Anyone that want to check this story can go on Sony forum and look it up on the first pages on threads about ps3 problems and games problems after the 3.30 firmware.

Wow. Reading the forums at the Playstation site is really bad. So many people's systems are not working or totally dead now. Seems Sony is just giving everyone the cold shoulder too. I never really do updates for games I don't play online and I'm really regretting doing this one.

Really hope my system lives and they find a fix for this BS.

Spoke with SONY today in fact and they were very helpful, but the frame of reference is very narrow.  They assisted my friend and I to reformat his 1st gen PS3 and start over.  I will get back to the forum with the results and whether it's a workable solution.

So..... i had the same problem as all you folks, but with most of my ps3 games as well. I called up sony, asked then if they were aware of this problem, they said no. I said really cause there are hundreds of people on many different forums saying that they are having this issue. To this she responded.... " We have millions of people with PS3's, if only a small group of these people are having an issue, its not a big enough problem to address." So if your waiting for a fix all patch.... it doesn't sound like it is going to happen. Oh and then she says, " Hey lets try some trouble shooting and maybe it will help." Now that she has helped me "trouble shoot" my problem my PS3 went from freezing during games to not see the disc at all.... Thank Sony! Grade A trouble shooting!! After I told her that now my disc drive doesn't work at all she tells me, " Well sounds like you need to send it in and that will be $148." All I have to say is hello Xbox 360.
