FFXII is awesome. FF purists bag on it, but IMO, it was the best FF game ever. No random encounters, full party control, full party development, lots of side quests, so so sooo much character customisation, gambit system .. I could go on and on. To top it all off, Square production value. I put well over 150 hours into my first play through of XII.
If you like FFXII .. give Rogue Galaxy a shot. Another fantastic, LONG, RPG. This one I really liked because of the fantasy / scifi / western setting. The cel-shaded look also fit the game really well. I loved collecting the different weapons and costumes for my party.

I just wanted to say ive been having this crashing issue for a couple of days now, ive had dragon age since day it came out and just recently started playing it again, i have all downloadable content and expansion. I can say that i havent had any crahes when playing the expansion or any other game. it is a complete system lockup that required a hard restart. Last night I was playing it and just saved often to get by, after about 6 lockups that evening, i had a horrible shutdown. the system completely turned off(1st time its done that for me) then when i went to restart the ps3, got the yellow light of death (ylod) i figured it was due to overheating ( was playing it a bit that day), this morning, still ylod, i tried the simple quick fixes, nothing. Ended up buying a new ps3slim and had lock ups with it too (again only with origins). I tried moving my hd from my old system to my new 1 to find out the hd itself has been corrupted (PS3 screen mentioned needing to reformat and blah blah). I believe this is from multiple lockups /hard resets. I advise everyone else to not weather through the lockups like I did to prevent a hd failure. I lost all my saved game data etc for all games. So i now have a lvl 4 mage on my new ps3 slim whos parked until a patch comes out.

Thanks for your patience with all of this.
Since this happened, we've pulled additional programmers from the main game teams to help on this and have been running several parallel investigations non-stop to find potential solutions from our end, as well as continuing to work with Sony for both dev support and other options.
Thanks to the great feedback on here and from those folks we've been in contact with directly, the team now thinks we've been able to find a code-side workaround from our end to patch DA to play nicer with firmware 3.3, which was one of our investigation threads.
At this time I still don't have a date estimate for a DA patch with this fix however, and unfortunately we do not believe there is a manual workaround for this (one of the other threads we're investigating).
We are currently testing this proposed code change as I write this, and if successful the next step will be for it to go into EA's publisher side certification testing. They are aware of the importance of this and will give this priority in the queue of titles/patches across EA. And once that clears, it will go into Sony cert testing.
Sorry, wish I had better news to offer already - but progress is being made and I'll continue to update as we know more.

OMG! This problem was worse then we first suspected. U should inform sony of this. They cant ignore this, if its causing PS3's to die.

Don't tell them that, they won't ever fix it if it means we will have have to buy new PS3s!

So glad to hear this, kisses and hugs to all the wonderful programmers at Bioware:wub:.
A shame we get to wait a bit more for Sony to let them fix it.

Wow. Reading the forums at the Playstation site is really bad. So many people's systems are not working or totally dead now. Seems Sony is just giving everyone the cold shoulder too. I never really do updates for games I don't play online and I'm really regretting doing this one.
Really hope my system lives and they find a fix for this BS.

So..... i had the same problem as all you folks, but with most of my ps3 games as well. I called up sony, asked then if they were aware of this problem, they said no. I said really cause there are hundreds of people on many different forums saying that they are having this issue. To this she responded.... " We have millions of people with PS3's, if only a small group of these people are having an issue, its not a big enough problem to address." So if your waiting for a fix all patch.... it doesn't sound like it is going to happen. Oh and then she says, " Hey lets try some trouble shooting and maybe it will help." Now that she has helped me "trouble shoot" my problem my PS3 went from freezing during games to not see the disc at all.... Thank Sony! Grade A trouble shooting!! After I told her that now my disc drive doesn't work at all she tells me, " Well sounds like you need to send it in and that will be $148." All I have to say is hello Xbox 360.
