So I got done with work today and decided to get a new game since I had just completed Assassin's Creed 2. Guess which one I picked

Since I just purchased it I may have a few things to help you guys narrow it down.

I had 3.30 installed prior to playing the first time. Crashes happen frequently without much relation to what I'm doing.

Strangely one time it crashed was at the title screen. I was checking out the trophies since I haven't earned any yet, but when I made it about a quarter of the way down the images and descriptions stopped loading. It was just a long list of those circling arrows telling you to hang on a minute. At this point I backed out of the trophy menu and the icons for the main PS3 menu screen came up but before the names to go along with the icons showed the animation of the game in the background stopped and the whole system locked. It appeared to be just before the game asks you to press start.

Also, the first character I've made (and the only one so far as I've only been "playing" for a few hours) is a mage, so I've been playing in the Circle's tower which seems to be one of the more common areas for problems.

One last thing, while I was reading the forums and trying to find a solution buried in the 60+ pages of posts I left the game running. The window stating that the EA servers could not be found popped up shortly after I started reading the posts and a couple of minutes ago I closed the window. That had to have been at least an hour with a very conservative guess (honestly it was probably closer to 2) which would have made it probably the longest the game has gone without locking up. However while just letting the game sit without anything bringing the animation to a pause leads to it locking up (the EA server window essentially pauses the game). I'm going to let the game sit at the title screen again to see if it will lock up again without actually loading a game and also see if I can duplicate the lock up with the trophy list. Oh and if the EA servers could not be found window comes up again I'm going to let it sit a good long time before checking to see if the game still responds.

bioware have confirmed we cant do anything on our end to fix these crashes so it dosnt matter if you only play the game as a lady-boy or a dog or if you save loads or turn subtitles off, it will still randomly crash all the time.



until Sony pull their finger out and do their bit(like bioware did straight away!) we can do nothing but p***, moan and wait like the good little consumers we are.lol.

Ok, good. You made your point! It would be very nice though if that console war here on the PS3 technical support forum would finally come to an end!

Here has what has given me a good amount of game play since the pS3 firmware upgrade. So far one freeze over the past few hours verse a freeze every 20 minutes or so.

Turned off PS3 Internet connection
Disabled DOA auto save.

performance has been much, much better.

I can play for 6hours and ive beat a run in origins and awakening since 3.30. But i think autosave is a must for me. I play signed out aswell.

I'm a PS3 owner, never had a 360 or anything...

But tbh, you're a lot more annoying and immature to me than the other guy, stop, lol.

And yeah, this bug is taking the ******, but when it's all over and fixed this'll be nothing other than a slightly irritating memory, so I'm not too fussed, I have other games...Although I DO really wanna see the ending.

I'm glad Bioware has finally finished a patch even if it still has to be released by EA then tested by Sony. >_> *Sigh*
One thing I would love to know however is WHY all these freezing lockups where occuring. I dont need a detailed explanation, I'm no programmer but I'm curious to know what was going on in the system to cause it all.
If someone from Bioware could let us know I'm sure we'd all be interested.

I don't think I downloaded the update. It said it has to update to access the PSN, and I remembered this and didn't do it. At any rate, it isn't freezing, but having to choose between signing on and have DAO freeze is a difficult decision.

Firmware Version: 3.30 running on Slim 120 gig
 
I am also experiencing random crashes in DAO.  In addition I get some faded sounds or sounds not playing at all when I cast magic.  It all seem random, sometime the sound for magic will play just fine others times it doesn’t play them at all.  Do others experience sound issues prior to crash?
