I've played Avatar after 3.30 firmware update and had no problems - I even got Platinum in this game. As for Dragon Age, I haven't even unpacked it yet. I can't stand freezing at all.Yas1 wrote...

Yea i did ffxi for about 2 months, i got frusterated how there were 'proper' combinations you were supposed to do like red mage/ whtmage and i hated at the time there was no solo content. i went to wow with a friend and played that till last december, now im ready to go back to ff since i hear they learned a lot from wow. i wonder though do you think they will limit you to make 1 char per account like ffxi, or will we be able to make more like in wow?
we are lucky that all of these ps3 issue sseem to be software based, im always having to help create new hardware designs for next gen revs to fix current hardware issues.
Actually FFXI doesn't limit you to one character per account. I actually had three characters because of the different races available in the game. I think you can actually have up to or over 10 characters. You invest way too much time in one character though, so I'll probably never do that again.
I know what you mean about the job/subjob set ups in the game. It's very frustrating. You can't just build they way you want if you want to be part of the groups in the game. Solo content is minimal as well. FFXIV is supposed to be more focused on solo content but of course we'll see how that goes. I'll definately be trying it out when it's released. I was denied the beta application.

I had PS1, i had PS2. I was always big fun of this console, that why i bought PS3, but now im wondering if that was a good choice. First, they release patch where u cant install linux anymore. Im never wanted to install any other system on my PS3 but i know that lot w ppl bought Ps3 because this console gave them oppoturnity to do it. After that, they release next Fw that is broken. I bought DA: origins 4 days before patch and that 4 days wasnt enough to get tired of this game. But well, after 4 days DA freezes all the time so i decided to stop playing until game will be fixed. So i bought Saboteur 2 days ago nad it froze once yesterday. TBH, DA freezes were so traumatic on first 2 days after releasing fw 3.30 that any freeze now on any game is really bad thing for me.
But ! The worst thing are not freezes. The worst thing is that i dont know, where is problem. Is it my PS3 ? Is it my HardDrive? Is it a game issue? Or maybe something else. At least BioWare is trying somehow to fix this problem but ****in sony is really annoying. They dont know what. where, why. They say nothing about problems with their new firmware. If im gonna call them and say that Saboteur froze, and before saboteur, DA was freezing too, they gonna tell me .... to buy new disk ? or new console ? so wtf. This is a help ? they dont even try to investigate it and what if im gona buy new console and there will be same problem ? They gonna say : " Well, thats really funny and unfortunate but it seems, that u bought beoken console again. So go change it" ...
But the most annoying thing is that u dont have a choice and u must dl firmwares to play on net. For me its not fair from sony side.
PS: Can u tell me. Do u had any problems with saboteur ever ? Any freezes or sth, cause i dont know if this is game problem or maybe my console ?

We're talking with Sony but this is a bit out of the blue for us as to why it is affecting DA (this is a sony hardware update).
Could I ask if this is affecting you to include some more details...
- Are you playing Origins or Awakening disc (or DLC version)
- Which Sony region are you in
- Could you check a different title on your PS3 to confirm if this is DA only
Thank you.
I am playing origins with the disc, in europe region, and don't have another game to check with yet.
One thing that I have noticed is that the game seems to display in 720p now instead of 1040p that it was using before the firmware update.

They already worked on a workaround patch. They're sending it to EA for further testing.

I find it hard to believe that DAO is the only game affected by this. Does anyone now of any other game affected?
FFXIII and Heavy Rain also freeze. There are other games that freeze, but I don't know which.
Negative on that. I've played Heavy Rain entirely through in two days, about 7 hours each day without a
single freeze. Besides, at this point, we're not worried about other games. That'd be a Sony forum if you wanted to post that. This is Dragon Age. I want to be back in Ferelden!! Viva la patch.
As I said, there is no guarantee that it will freeze. I don't own Heavy Rain personally, but I have friends that do. Most of them have problems with it freezing and some do not.
And perhaps you're not worried about other games, but sashang certainly was... as they specifically asked what other games were having freezing problems.

I'm in the exact same boat, and I'm sure many other people are too, been buying the sony consoles since the 1st one (4 ps1's 2 ps2's and a ps3) and I pretty much only play games that come out on Sony consoles, except for KOTOR 1 and 2 on the original Xbox, which I bought after the price went way down, and I only bought that because of KOTOR
But in all honesty you can't be surprised can you? Sony is a big company which means they're going to try whatever they can to make you buy their products over and over, even if you're buying the exact same thing, and if they can't get you to do that they'll pretend there's no problem at all and it's all your fault so that they don't have to fix it thats just how big businesses are

I spent today working on my old ps3 that got the perm ylod, I completely disassembled the ps3 down to every component and screw, cleaned all parts and 'baked' the motherboard to allow the solder to reconnect (oxidation usually causes bad connections over time for electronics, plus when boards overheat the solder can temporarily melt llowing pieces to start to pull away from the board). After I re-assembled and everything and put on some new heat solution for the large chips, it seems to be up and running... Woot! Tommorow I will do the transfer from my old ps3 to my new 1, since i dont have confidence it wont break again sometime soon. btw its amazing how well everything fits in that little black box, a packaging marvel i tell you.

I should probably just hold off on it all till the patch comes through. Red Dead Redemption is coming soon too which I'm excited about, but I just wanted some opinions from those who have experienced the extra Dragon Age stuff. Thanks in advance.

Work harder fixing this bioware i don't care if you say you are because if it's not fixed by now then you obviously aren't. Also i know it wasn't your company that made this happen but it is your job to get all over PlayStations ass to fix this because they don't listen to us people like us that you know only make them billionaires. I'm sure biowares not doing so bad in the cash department either. The longer this isn't fixed the more money you will be losing in the long run.
And you're seriously surprised nobody would listen to you commenting like that? Get a grip, dude...
Bioware is working to fix this, period.

I'm sure Bioware is working hard to solve the problem.
I believe in its developers
By the way, I don't know how or why, but in my last three games to DAO, the game works fine, without any crash. I played for two or three hours each time, with the PSN account online.
The only difference from previous games was I used a new HDMI cable :-/
Patience!
