I updated to 3.3 on Friday, and immediately experienced frequent crashing in both pre and post update game saves.
I'm really hoping the patch fixes this- I adore this game, and would hate to loose it.
A question to the Bioware team: assuming this patch works, is there anything to say that future updates will be safe? Or will be facing similar gambits every time we're required to update?

I eject the game disc, and then insert it back in. This causes the PS3 to shutdown and reboot.
I DONT power off/on as this will eventually cause corruptions

That said, I find it a bit worrying this lack of coordination between the hardware (Sony) and software (EA/Bioware) providers.
All this mess could have been easily avoided if Sony made available, one month before, the new firmware to all the software houses in order to test it. Bioware could have spot out the severe bug and fix it without annoying his costumers. This is even more true if we think that the new firmware was not so urgent to be released.
At the end all this story lowered the perception of reliability in many Sony and Bioware customers, which will think twice before upgrading the system and, perhaps, before buying another of their products.

Just to let you all know that the patch has gone through EA Cert and has now made it to Sony's hands! I don't have an official release date estimate yet, but with a little bit of luck we may still see it late this week. I'll update you when we know more.
The upcoming patch addresses:
- The high rate of crashing on firmware 3.3.
- The issue where redeeming codes was no longer showing the free download items.
- Adds the trophies for the upcoming Darkspawn Chronicles DLC
Once again, my sincere thanks to all of you that posted on here and helped us track this down.

Fernando.. Could u tell us what in the 3.30 firmware that caused the crashing?

The update would've had to come out one month later, even more people would've complained. You can't please everyone. And Bioware would've most likely just run it through their developer's kit machines, which would've had no problem. Let's just be glad that a solution's on its waysoprano wrote...

Thank you Bioware team! I'm raring to go back to playing Awakenings. I've been tempted to play it but I'm just so worried that my saves will go to waste.

What do you think they would be complaining about? I can't say I've seen lots of people espousing the upside of this patch. Most of it was forward-going support for 3d, which could have waited a month, I'd say. If the patch was provided early to Bioware and they chose to only test it on developer kit boxes, then that would be poor QA, and would be on them, but if they were testing properly they would have had the opportunity to test it on standard boxes, and would have seen the problem.indiemobile wrote...

I understand such things happen, I haven't been here screaming at anyone to fix it, and I'm glad it is getting fixed now. But that doesn't mean that it couldn't have been handled differently and better. Post-mortem on such things is always smart, and if Sony as a matter of course drops firmware updates on their developer community at the same time they drop it on their customers, that is just asking for trouble.

Unfortunately it is my understanding that this is EXACTLY what Sony does. A policy they need to seriously reconsider:blink:.
