I still can't get over how I paid 50 dollars for nearly 3 weeks of constant freezing that locks up my entire console. They better get this fixed by the end of the week.

I know people are saying "shut up and be patient" and most people are, otherwise nobody would even bother posting on this useless thread, they'd be returning the game and buying something else. This is seriously the first time this has happened to me--the last time a game froze on me it was my old nintendo where you had to blow on the cartridges because of dust, lol.
So sad Bioware, so freaking sad.

Now I've started over as a Mage, gained the Arcane Warrior specialty, and managed to work my way through some of the early content, but again fighting freezes at almost every step.
My Awakenings came in from Amazon today; I've downloaded Soldier's Peak and am ready to start that campaign, but I'm sure frustrated at all these lockups.
No word at all from BioWare's tech support (their support staff 'elevated' my case to a higher level..hah!), and no updates from Sony for my PS3 since the 3.3 update two weeks ago when this all started.
And now I see another expansion pack that lets you play as a Darkspawn! How can BioWare be this callous to their customers?
----edit-----
Just checked my ticket at EA's customer support site. Now they're saying it's either my disk being dirty or my console is defective! Talk about the left hand not knowing what the right is doing. All of you reading this need to go to the EA support site and start a ticket with your freeze-up issues so maybe someone will get a hint that this is a major issue!

P.S. Do you think the Bioware people even read these posts? I'd be the smart thing to do
Yes, they do. In fact, they have posted in this very thread several times, as well as asked for help in pinpointing the problem. A patch is on the way. Relax.

I've sent them the link to the forums both in my chat session and in my support thread. Please go to http://help.dragonage.com and file a complaint.

- Bioware is aware of the problem
- Bioware has, with the help from users on this forum, managed to locate the cause of the problem and has created a fix. It probably took longer than normal because they could not reproduce the problem on their Devkits, only on retail consoles (= no debugging possible).
- The fix has been tested in-house and by EA, and is currently undergoing Sony certification testing (which is a requirement of Sony's since the patch will be distributed through PSN)
- No specific release date has been given (since it is in Sony's hands) but hopefully late this week.

ANd I must say KUDOS to BioWare on this issue, because to get a gamebreaking glitch that doesn't even show up on your debug units fixed in just a couple/few weeks is pretty impressive. Hell, look at CoDMW2. There are online ruining bugs, glitches and exploits that have gone unfixed for almost 6 months now. Well done, BioCats.

Figured I could post a summary of the situation for newcomers to this thread as it seems not everyone actually reads the thread before posting.

and we all know that constant reboting can mess up your hard drive(crupt files)
I taught it might be my system so I played another game no freezing. I have another PS3 system again the same problem constant \\ random freezing again tried other games NO! problem.
I really love playing DAO so I hope they find a solution to this problem real soon.

It might've been impressive it hadn't been 18 days (and it still isn't fixed). I mean seriously. Consider yourself having just bought the game, and the first thing you come home to find is that it doesn't work.Larry L wrote...
Wow, people on the internet make me laugh. Dragon Age is one of my favorite games this gen. I absolutely LOVE playing it. I'm on my 4th playthrough. After the 3.30 update, like 2 days later I went to play Dragon Age and I got a freeze up like many of you. What I did was came to this forum, noticed this thread and saw tons of other people having the same problem. So what I did was, as a smart gamer who doesn't like putting his PS3 at risk by it constantly freezing up and having to hard restart it putting unwarranted wear and tear on my hard drive and fan motor, I took Dragon Age out of my PS3, put it back in it's nice case, and put another game in my PS3, coming back here once a day to check for any replies from BioWare and info on a patch. In fact when I was at Best Buy a week ago, I even bought Awakenings knowing that I wasn't going to be able to play it until a patch came out, which I knew it would because game breaking glitches get fixed.

It would be nice if BioWare and Sony simply acknowledged that there was a problem; had their respective support centers advised of the problem and let us all know that it's under development to fix!
Is this not the official forum of BioWare for Dragon Age?
And as for not having a retail PS3 console to do testing on...YIKES! What kind of development and QA is that? With the obvious hours and hours of development spent in putting together this amazing RPG that captures ones attention like no other RPG I've played in a long time, where is the attention to solving problems like this and letting customers know what's happening?
Ok, sorry for the rant. It's just that incompetence drives me crazy.

Stop talking sense, you know that only angers the Interwebbers.
Seriously people, just play another game for a while. Yes it's annoying, but **** happens. Deal with it.
And, to say this for the 234th time, this was NOT Bioware's fault. It was Sony's. So for Bioware to get a patch done as quickly as they have is commendable, considering how it just came out of the blue as it did.
I will here reiterate my call for Sony to provide some compensation to DAO players over this -- I think PSN Store credit to purchase some DLC would be a nice gesture.

It was probably kust as unexpected from their side as it was for Bioware. Even in earlier console generations some very old games later became incompatible with newer hardware revisions. It does not happen often, but sometimes it does. Usually when someone codes madly outside what the hardware-manufacturers guidelines/documentation say.
Or on PC...I recently had to install antique drivers on my old gfx card to get Anachronox running. The game does not at all work with nVidea drivers from like after 2004; even drivers for the really old cards of the time of the games release. In the end, just a tiny problem with the code can cause huge problems.
I am glad that Bioware even responds to the problems here. Check Bethesda´s forums; Fallout 3 becomes almost unplayable on PS3 once the add-ons are installed or if you have the GOTY Edition. The framerate stutters like hell and playing even an hour without the game freezing is a miracle; and only because of the add-ons.
But they neither respond to the complaints on their forums nor did they ever acknowledge the problem elsewhere; and there is no patch or anything, and probably there will never be. Their philosophy seems to be that the game is out, people bought it and now the customer must see to make the best of it.
So...I am glad Bioware seems to actually read the forums here and works to solve problems with their product. I haven´t even started with DAO yet, but I will once the patch is out.
Now I just wish they´d make mods available for PS3 as they said they were going to try...but that´s another story.^^

So what you're saying is that Victor Wachter and Fernando Melo who both posted on this forum just posted something to make us all feel better (reading between the lines)? I doubt that very seriously.AmalieWiz wrote...
Pretty amazing that someone posts that BioWare is aware of the problem and has developed a patch. Especially since all their tech support people are to this day still unaware of any problems and still give out platitudes about cleaning disks and perhaps trying on another console?
