Pretty amazing that someone posts that BioWare is aware of the problem and has developed a patch. Especially since all their tech support people are to this day still unaware of any problems and still give out platitudes about cleaning disks and perhaps trying on another console?

So what you're saying is that Victor Wachter and Fernando Melo who both posted on this forum just posted something to make us all feel better (reading between the lines)? I doubt that very seriously.

Sony still tells me its a hardware issue, bioware still tells us to clean our disk. Come on this B.S. if they actually have a possible fix why doesn't any of their tech support know about it?

Not every techie is unaware. I myself was directed here by EA's tech support as were the majority of my friends who lodged a formal complaint.

I've been writing this ever since they mentioned the new DLC! The last patch was released a week prior to Return to Ostagar.

Before I was aware of this being a game issue. I thought my PS3 failed, so I called Sony and they told me it was a massive hard drive failure( even though I could play my other games without any problems) and I could send my PS3 in for repairs at a cost of $150, so instead I decided to just buy a new more powerful PS3, hooked it up started playing Dragon Age and started freezing up again. Called Sony AGAIN and was told by SONY that the new PS3 was bad, since I had only had it for less than 3 hours I took it back to the store and they exchanged it. Brought the newest PS3 home played for a little over an hour and game froze again. So I called a video game store explained to them and they suggested I call EA which I did. The first person I talked to said my game must be bad and it has a 90 day warranty so send it to them with a copy of my receipt and they will send me a new copy. I hung up and was going to do that then I thought if there is a 90 day warranty why do I have to pay money( postage and insurance) to fix their issue, so I called back talked to another guy who was in Austin, Texas and he said that he hasnt heard of any issue with Dragon Age and kept apologizing but offered no other resolution except to send game to them for a new copy. I got frustrated a looked up problems with Dragon Age and that is how I found out it was because of an update on the PS3 and I am amongst many having this issue.

What makes me aggravated about this situation is that this all started less than a week ago, yet Sony wanted me to pay money to fix my PS3 because of this problem so obviously that customer "service" person did not know what was going on, nor did the 2nd person from Sony I talked to after the 2nd PS3 had same problems. Then when I call EA on 2 different occasions they blamed the game.

All of this in less than a week and No one knows anything about it but now all of the sudden they have been working on this "patch" for a little bit and it will be ready hopefully by the end of the week. Give me a break

If you go back in this forum you notice that working on the patch did not happen "all of a sudden"! It's been almost three weeks now.

Just to let you all know that the patch has gone through EA Cert and has now made it to Sony's hands! I don't have an official release date estimate yet, but with a little bit of luck we may still see it late this week. I'll update you when we know more.

The upcoming patch addresses:
- The high rate of crashing on firmware 3.3.
- The issue where redeeming codes was no longer showing the free download items.
- Adds the trophies for the upcoming Darkspawn Chronicles DLC

Once again, my sincere thanks to all of you that posted on here and helped us track this down.

The issue of the various tech support people at Sony and EA not knowing about this problem is actually a real problem, and pretty ridiculous.

I mean, how hard is it to send out a memo? Given the fact that this issue has been reported on various gaming sites, and that Bioware is fully aware of it, there's absolutely no reason why tech support should be ignorant of it.

The store wont take the game back i just baught it on the 7th and everything we all do as customers is frustrating.. Buy a game load install it... then the 15 doller voucher for shale n all dont work then freezes ever 5 to 10 mins or what have you makes you wanna turn the COnsol into a Hockey Puck hah

Hey, in my chat with BioWare's technician they even acknowledged they don't have a PS3 there to troubleshoot a customer's complaints. So, based on the fractured English in the chat, I'm assuming I'm corresponding to a call center in a third world country? Where's this great support?

Yes, most larger software publishers outsource 1st and 2nd tier support. It's standard practice, and yes, it sucks (most of the time).

It would be nice if BioWare and Sony simply acknowledged that there was a problem; had their respective support centers advised of the problem and let us all know that it's under development to fix!

BioWare HAS acknowledged the problem, for crying out loud.

....
Ok, sorry for the rant. It's just that incompetence drives me crazy.

Seriously, I think failing to read the thread before posting is comparable to "incompetence".

I got it 4 days before 3.30 was released :P barely made it to Lothering in my first playthrough before upgrading to 3.30 and the crashes started. In fact, I only had my PS3 (80gb fat) for a month and a half before 3.30 came out :| double luck for me ey!

Question: Why are you still ringing up Sony and Bioware when Bioware have clearly stated that they come up with a fix that is going through testing with Sony and is set to be released hopefully by the end of the week? Pointless.

Well at least Bioware acknowledged the problem.

I used to love Bethesda, played Oblivion for weeks.

Until I got the vampire glitch, and Bethesda never acknowledged it.

Now I hate Bethesda, cursing it for years,

It's probably because they simply don't read the thread before posting, I'm afraid, so we will be seeing more of these type of posts.

the crashing isn't even that big a deal, it has been 3 days or so since it last happened to me. People are getting impatient too quickly. At least the fix is quicker than all of you sarcastics said (6 months, wtf?) but it should only be another few days by now

Ok, have to disagree there, id say its quite a big issue seen as this forum is A- Called "Game crashing after ps3 firmware 3.30 update" implying its sonys update thats basicly hyped up malware and thus affecting other things aswel like blueray movies etc.

And B-look how many posts there have been in 3 weeks, that alone shud tell you its quite a big problem for a lot of people.

if its not happening much for you, then you sir. . .are a very jammy git!lol.

but yes, it shud be sorted for da at least. some good news at least!
