I too am having my withdrawal symptoms just like any other DAO cracked out player but just hang tight and have faith someone will resolve something soon.

In all fairness a late week release of the update didn't help the matter. By the time the complaints started rolling in the weekend was already there and not much can be done about it. It's the top of the week now and people are back in the offices so give them (Sony & Bioware) at least a week to work something out before sending them to the gallows.

I'm taking suggestions on what I should tell them when I reopen the ticket? I was thinking of just "lolno" but I'm not sure they'd take it seriously enough.
Also, if you haven't opened tickets with *everyone* yet regarding this issue, get on it. We've got to be the squeakiest MFing wheels if we want this fixed any time soon.
Sony:

EA:

And don't forget to mention our mantras of "PS3", "Firmware 3.30", "Freezing", "Crashing", and "Dragon Age: Origins". Trending is dark and mysterious voodoo, and we've all got to be on the same page so we look like the angry mob we really are.

I have been afflicted with the "Firmware 3.30", "Freezing" issues.
However, I have managed to play for about an hour at a time, by making sure that I was not signed into the PSN Network.
Also - strangely enough, I noticed that the Parental control was set to "9" for DA:O. So, I went into the System Settings and set it to: "Off" - this seems to have helped a little - but I can never play for more than an hour without the console Freezing at random places.

So far, I have played through the origin story, and Ostagar no problems.
I'm working through Redcliff now.
I have also left the network signed out...so that might be helping, I'm afraid to reconnect...

I just got my copy of DA:O in the mail today, the DLC Promo Codes are going to expire on the 30th, and if I update the game will become unplayable... UNBELIEVABLE!!!

From your feedback so far (and monitoring the Sony forums and other game sites) we're seeing this as a world wide (region independent) issue - so no more info on that is needed (thank you for those that provided the info).
We're now focusing people here on trying to zero in on 2 possible areas that are coming up as common threads related to the crashing, to try and narrow down the cause - I'd appreciate it if you could send us more info on your experience with these so far:
1) All games being reported as affected in some manner, and the one bluray movie I've seen reported as affected so far (Avatar), all have some type of online connection option and send data at various points to non-Sony servers. In DA's case there are updates to social, Avatar I believe sends data to their website, etc.
Some of you have reported less/no crashing if you completely disable your network connection on your PS3, or not have it plugged to ethernet cable. But not if you simply log off from PSN.
I'd like to hear more on that specifically - have you tried the above, and is it helping? Is it only a physical cable disconnect or disable of network connection in PS3 settings, and not only logging out?
Also, for DA, it normally attempts the send social data updates at save points, and level up to minimize in-game impact. If you are seeing crashes, I would like to hear from you on whether that was on/near/around auto-save points, or a manual save you made (or not related) - to see if that helps us narrow this down.
2) Some of you have started reporting that deleting pre-3.30 saves has helped. This is something I'd be very hesitant to recommend given time invested, unless we know for sure. Also, does creating a new game character help? What about creating a new PSN profile?
We have folks here now also looking at this, but if you have done any of these please let us know whether this helped.
Thanks again for your patience - it is pretty clear that despite this affecting other titles, that it has impacted on DA substantially. We're hopeful there is something we can do from our end to work around whatever was introduced in 3.3. In the meantime, please continue to send us information that will help us narrow this down.
ps. Different topic, but with respect to promo codes & expiry - please continue to redeem the codes here on the social site or within the game itself. The expiry date mentioned is related only to the code use, not the content for download. The current issue is that the content is not appearing correctly, but once that's fixed (nearly there) anyone having redeemed their code will still be able to d/l the content, well beyond Apr 30th.
Also, we won't be expiring the codes on the 30th given the recent issues.

-While connected to PSN
-While logged out of PSN
-While disconnected from network
-While netword connection disabled via network settings
-In 2 separate profiles on PS3
Also, it seems to me like the issue occurs when the game tries to auto-save...ie, in the beginning of a battle scene when the game tries to save it freezes.

Game Info: Dragon Age plus DLC content(shale, blood armor, return to ostagar, warden's keep) I do not have awakening installed, yet.
Region: Europe(the netherlands)
The freezing issues started for me after i updated to the 3.30 firmware, before this there were no problems aside from some lagging/framerate problems. I wouldn't mind having that tweaked a little bit
I've tried the following to remedy the situation:
1) Sign out of PSN. This did not solve the problem
2) Disable my internet through the PS3 network settings. This did not solve the problem
3) Pull the UTP cable(i do not use wireless). The freezing did not occur for the first hour of play, but then it did finally freeze.
4) In addition to number 3 i also disabled the autosave feature.
I have been able to play dragon age on three occasions for about 1 - 2 hours without issues. The moment i reverse steps 3 and 4 the freezing issues happen again, or simply happen quicker. Of course, i could just have been lucky that the game has not yet frozen again.
The problem seems to be related to saving and an active internet connection. Unfortunately, i'm just a humble web developer who is only guessing at this point
I hope this helps to diagnose the problem.

- Played DA fine with no crashes since I got the game back in February. Logged more than 100+ hours of gameplay with various characters.
- Played fine an hour before getting the Sony 3.30 update. The funny thing is I was actually about to play the game when I was prompted that I had to do the system update. Did it and started the game up again. (Mind I'm still connected to the net this whole time).
- Started the game after the 3.30 update and it took a long time to load. It was checking for saved games for about 5 minutes and then checking downlaodable content for another 5 before it gave the menu options.
- Resumed my last game which was the last Denerim fight. Managed to get through the Alienage and Market with no problem but when it switched over it froze while doing the auto save (when the ogre marches in through the front gate).
- Rebooted and let my wife play with her account. She was in the Circle Tower fade missions when she had crashes every 5 minutes.
- After doing my google homework and finding out about others with the same drama I disabled the WiFi connection in the PS and tried playing again. I managed to get through the rest of the Denerim fights including the Archdemon fight with no crash. However that same night my wife was playing (this time in Haven) and said it froze on her prior to the Chantry fight (which I assume believe was an auto-save spot as well). The net was disconnected at that sime as well.
- I've played other games since the 3.30 update and haven't experienced any trouble with freezes. Watched Avatar the other night and didn't have any problems either. I didn't have the net connected in any of those instances either.

I usually play single-player games while being signed off PSN. So, I was signed off the whole time of play. And those freezes began anyway after 3.30. I'm one of those who benefited from disconnecting the utp ethernet cable(on saturday). But the game still froze one time on sunday(about 10 hours since saturday in without freezing) and once today(happened after several minutes of play, but I've played for 2 hours without problem after). AFAIR, both times it happened while I was choosing my party in the camp.
Also, I haven't tried other possible solutions. Meaning that I didn't delete any gamedata or saves or whatever.
Oh, and the freezing never happened while saving. Whether it was auto or manual.
