Thanks for the update, Victor!

And you people complaining, Bioware has worked as hard and as fast as they can to make a patch to fix this issue.

I don't think those people have any idea what an arduos task programming can be.  Particularly PATCHING a bug that was created when the machine was altered by an outside source.  BIOWARE didn't release DAO with this freeze bug... it was caused by a conflict with 3.3 from Sony.

not entirely true.  it is possible that the 3.30 FW update revealed an inherent flaw in the game code that they never bothered to clean up and/or fix.   considering the buggy mess DA:O already is, it's not too far of a stretch.

Except that other games, movies, and the PS3 internet browser can also be effected by freezing. Not to mention some lucky punks haven't had any problems with DAO. So yes, it is quite a stretch.

Thanks BioWare.

I don't know if any of you played Fallout 3 and downloaded the Point Lookout DLC, and if you have, I know you appreciate a developer actually took the time to listen to its consumers, research the problem, and came up with a patch to resolve the issue in this short of a time (I'm looking at you Bethesda). I will be looking forward to next week to playing DA:O again, and thanks for a great game.

It happened again...Wynn's right hand is currently stuck in a kind of handshaking position. Seriously funny stuff.

I can give you this much update, but I will also make an announcement as soon as we get some final key information.

The patch Fernando discussed has passed Sony certification both in North America and the EU and we're currently working with them on a deployment date. We're going to miss the window to get this released this week, but we are going to try and get released next week ASAP.

Again, I'll make an official announcement once dates are set. The firmware ordeal is almost over :)

I add my voice to the thanks.

But can you guys maybe tell Sony to do more thorough testing before they release their firmware updates?  Like, just get some mook at the office to do a quick run through of their fifty most popular games, or something, to see if anything is screwed up or not.

That way they can try to head off any problems before they release it.

hello, hello! Ok, just had 5 hours on DAO with no crashes. Wouldnt bother posting if it was just to say that though.lol.

bareing in mind that since 3.3 ive not been able to play without it crashin every 5-15 mins, this was quite a shock.

now dont quote me on this ok, it could have just been blind luck it didnt crash. But ive been thinking if anythings changed settings wise and the only thing was that i had to patch bad company 2(also EA) to.1.3 last night and since then, no crashes on DAO!

Just wondering if anyone else has had the same happen?

ill try it again tomorrow and let you all know if it crashes.

please try it if you have BC2 and post results, cheers!

fingers crossed!!!

ok so I just have to say, I don't have the problem with the game crashes(depends on how you see it), but since the release of the game, and the problem is still there the game just suddenly freezes, unfortunately it's just random when it does it, but it's extremely annoying since i usually forget to save(just lost 4 hours of game-play now). does anyone know what i can do to fix it, or if not, does the Bioware team work on a fix. (Yeah, it's still on the PS3)

um what?  how in the world are you saying you lost 4 hours of game play due to a freeze?  First unless you turned it off the game saves auto-matically at certain points.  Second, even if you did turn off auto-save, how is it that not once in that "4 hours" did you not bother to save one time?

i did play for something aroun 4 hours, I didn't turn of the auto save(it just didn't save), and i'm pretty forgetful so i forget to save quite often. but anyways, that's beside the point, the point is that it's still a problem with the game freezing up that i seriously think should be addressed.

that freezing problem has been addressed.  Sadly we now have to wait for Sony and their "window of time" to decide to upload the patch to the servers so we the consumers can finally play our game again without the freezing.

Also im not saying you have to save all the time but not knowing to save at least one time with in 4 hours a play is not a good thing at all.  You could have messed something up in a quest or said something wrong and decide you wanna redo it, yet since you aint save you would have to do that whole 4 hours over just to get back to that one point again.  Thats just crazy.  I guess being that im old school ive always been one to save a lot.  Guess thats just a habit from the 1980's when i first started gaming lol

While I am glad that Bioware created a patch for this game, I still feel us consumers are getting a raw deal.We purchase a game, perhaps the game guide, and or downloadable content expecting to be able to enjoy a product that is flawed and we have absolutely no recourse but to take it. The flaw is either Bioware or Sony but it is the consumers that that are s#!T out of luck. Now I find out the patch that was expected by the end of this week has passed all the tests but now we have to wait until "next week" to get a release date. Not that the PATCH would be released next week but that a DATE will be released next week, and if it is the patch how hard would it be to tell us a specific day next week so we dont have to check forums every day. I for one believed when I read end of this week so I have not played or even checked the forum until today and now I am reading about a announced release date next week but no answer to when.
I know with the millions of people that play this and other Bioware games that my little amount of money I spend means nothing to Bioware and Sony but I work way to hard for my money to continue to purchase new games that are unreliable. I guess I will wait and purchase used games after they have been out a little while to solve these "minor" problems.

Thors I agree what you just said I was one of them suckers that just baught the game less than 5 days ago i spent already $120 american dollers on game the expansion as well all DLC content...

As Far as some people pointing fingers at Bioware i disagree not their fault their software was developed around what was currently running on sony's products and with this Firmware 3.30 it did more than freeze for me on this game I had other issues Such as Avatar on Bluray wont play freezes too even replaced the Blueray also same on my friends same Firmware but his dads dont use a PLN account but he uses his PS3 as blueray only so hence he has an older firmware and our blueray disks run fine why did sony push for something n be ready for 3d BS when hence no 3d game or movies totally out on market till maybe end of this year hmm

You'd only be a "sucker" if no fix was ever created. It's not like anyone has wasted their money.

You don't have to go through 90+ pages. Just click on the blue "BioWare" beneath the thread topic and you'll be able to see all of BioWare's responses to this matter.

Hm. Someone here needs to learn how to be polite and civilized in discussion. Your post is offensive and makes no sense. I stated that a month to fix a problem that rendered all copies of PS3 Dragon Age unplayable is unacceptable. However unlike some other developers Bioware actually admitted that game is broken and that it takes a whole month to fix it. What is wrong with it? Bioware themselves clearly understand this.

Geez people. We kind of expected the patch wasn't going to come out till the week of the 18th (coincidentally of course with the release of the DLC...yes yes I know... for PC and Xbox but still). People took the whole "hopefully by the end of the week" line far too seriously and ran with it.

If the patch gets released (on Tuesday... don't even fool yourself into thinking Monday) then cheers, problem solved and all the angry masses can go back to losing themselves in the fantasy world. If it doesn't, then welcome to the world of big business. That's the way it goes sometimes unfortunately and it's not going to change any time soon.

The patch has already been approved by Sony. They just missed their window to release it this week.
