Thanks BioWare.
I don't know if any of you played Fallout 3 and downloaded the Point Lookout DLC, and if you have, I know you appreciate a developer actually took the time to listen to its consumers, research the problem, and came up with a patch to resolve the issue in this short of a time (I'm looking at you Bethesda). I will be looking forward to next week to playing DA:O again, and thanks for a great game.

Yeah Fallout 3 and Oblivion are riddled with major bugs and I don't think that Bethesda have ever even acknowledged the problems so I supose I'm grateful to Bioware for actaually fixing this, It's just that 4 weeks is a long time.

Geez people. We kind of expected the patch wasn't going to come out till the week of the 18th (coincidentally of course with the release of the DLC...yes yes I know... for PC and Xbox but still). People took the whole "hopefully by the end of the week" line far too seriously and ran with it.

If the patch gets released (on Tuesday... don't even fool yourself into thinking Monday) then cheers, problem solved and all the angry masses can go back to losing themselves in the fantasy world. If it doesn't, then welcome to the world of big business. That's the way it goes sometimes unfortunately and it's not going to change any time soon.

Well at least it's more or less guaranteed to be released some time next week, that makes me feel a lot better and stops me from moaining.

Yea we should be grateful that at least our voices are heard. Solution is on the way!

I have almost an opposite view.
To go from the introduction of a problem brought about via another entities actions (the firmware update), to determine there is a problem, diagnose, code, troubleshoot, and release on console with its hurdles, all in a 3-4 week timeframe is pretty freakin spectacular if you ask me.

Wow! I didn't know that. I played Fallout 3 and didn't have any problems Ran as smooth as glass. Guess I was one of the lucky ones.

The PS3 version is almost unplayable at some points.

Probably most people posting here have a better idea of the time frame it takes to find a fix for something like this than I do. Bioware worked on this, had to get it through EA and Sony, then there's the process of what they do and finally getting it out. I don't think most of us have a real idea of how it works. As this has been mentioned in previous posts.

The fact that EA and Sony haven't responded in a positive or informative way (or at all) to us shows Bioware's difference in customer relations. I think they understand how we feel, for the most part, and I doubt they are taking it lightly.

Also mentioned before, perhaps the patch could have come quicker, but having it done right is probably much better than getting a quick fix that isn't tested enough and fails. It would really suck to have to go through this again.

There's been a lot of valid complaints. I don't disagree with a lot of them, but what can you do? Things happen I guess.

I haven't been playing anything really since the firmware 3.30. DA:O was the only game I was enjoying. Trust me, I want this fix too. Just hang in there and keep an eye out for next week's info.

As I understand it, there is EA Certification, and then Sony certification.
After both of those, it has to be distributed via PSN

I can give you this much update, but I will also make an announcement as soon as we get some final key information.

The patch Fernando discussed has passed Sony certification both in North America and the EU and we're currently working with them on a deployment date. We're going to miss the window to get this released this week, but we are going to try and get released next week ASAP.

Again, I'll make an official announcement once dates are set. The firmware ordeal is almost over :)

Thank you bioware for all your hard work in fixing Sony's mess.

Just to let you all know that the patch has gone through EA Cert and has now made it to Sony's hands! I don't have an official release date estimate yet, but with a little bit of luck we may still see it late this week. I'll update you when we know more.

The upcoming patch addresses:

- The high rate of crashing on firmware 3.3.

- The issue where redeeming codes was no longer showing the free download items.

- Adds the trophies for the upcoming Darkspawn Chronicles DLC

Once again, my sincere thanks to all of you that posted on here and helped us track this down.

its in sonys hands now unless theres a invisible post on the forums i missed.

That's Sony's window and you'd have to find out from them because it's through their PSN that the patch will be distributed. I've heard scuttlebutt about them doing their releases and upates on Tuesdays so if that's true then they missed this week's window and will hopefully have it drop next Tuesday.

Just speculation though.

What I got out of it is their done testing and passed certification, so why the delay in releasing? If they still had testing to complete why would Victor Wachter say it has passed Sony cert? I mean, hell he posted this yesterday morning So what did they do the rest of yesterday and today, celebrate getting the patch through cert? To me it sounds like BS to have to wait for this "window" to release a fix for a game that worked when i bought it.

And yes I do realize its in sony's hand now.

So are you saying that Sony can only do something, be it add or remove or anything, at certin times on their network. I find that hard to believe as true. Who would make something that can only be acsessed at 12:59 EST on tuesday, every other week, on even months, minus leap years(example). Does that make sence to you? It doesn't to me.

It's their network, bro. I don't work for them so I can't tell you what's certain and what's not. All I know is the Bioware developers said it passed both levels of certification. Since Sony is the one that allows us to receive the updates it's THEIR call as to when they release it since it's on their network.

I don't work for sony either but from what I know of large network serversthe servers will have to be shut down and restarted. For companies as large as sony this is a pretty big task. To reduce or elminate down time they usually switch to a secondary server with lower capabilities while mains are rebooting. They tend to do this when the server loads are at their lowest to keep from having crashes due to server overloads. They probably could have done it right away but the risk of a total network crash would have been to great so they just schedule for their normal back-up restart.

Which makes perfect sense to me. Eliminate as much collateral damage as possible.

It figures that people complain when the freeze happens. Once it's addressed, people will complain about how long it took to address it. Then people will complain about how long it's taking to find a solution. Now people are complaining about how long it will take to launch the fix. There is no pleasing people.

I personally am glad that a fix is coming instead of an "oh well...sucks to be you" kind of response. Good work, BioWare.
