So, are there any women who don't like Alistair?

With how much effort they put into the rest of the game, I think they could have removed your party members from the background for this one.

They don't even have dialogue for an Alistair who is not King after the Landsmeet! It is completely unsurprisung that they didn't bother to remove the party members.

They do, kind of, but it is not in the vanilla game.  It's much shorter, and it's after you get Anora's speech, but it most certainly is there.

Edit: There is a lot that is not in the vanilla game that can be put back in.  This particular dialog, I don't think it was left out intentionally.

Fine, they didn't bother to set flags to fire the correct dialogue for non-king Alistair. The game is simply buggy as hell. But that's not my point.

My point is: Alistair is breaking up with you in front of your comrades because Bioware recycled the standard cutscene and not necessarily because it is Alistair's character to do so. I don't think the setting is meant to characterize him.

I get your point.  I personally love the Alistair story, heartbreak and all.  I was so stunned by the whole thing that it didn't matter where he did it, only that it was done.  I had an inkling it was coming when his greeting switched, but still, I fought against it.

Beautiful story!  I cried.  There's nothing more I could have asked from it!

Yes, I figured it was something like that, klarabella - a lack of resources rather than deliberately making Alistair look like an a-hole. But still, it doesn't leave the best impression.

But why did your companions even need to be in the room for any of the after-Landsmeet monarch-greetings? It's not like they added anything to the discussion and some of the conversations were kind of private.

I never said I was surprised, only that it's stupid, and that canonically, they ARE standing right there, so it counts to say he breaks up with you in front of everyone. It IS what he does.

100% true.

I never saw her as creepy or stalkery (new word there?). I barely see her as religious. I see her as spiritual.

To me, Leliana is the most genuine, compassionate and earnest member of
your group. What few flaws I see her as having, she admits to
herself.

Well said, I agree though I like Wynne a bit more still. Leliana never creeped me out at all. Though I'm an atheist IRL, I like the way she describes her take on faith. It means a lot to her but she doesn't use it as a weapon.

And I think it's a too-rare and much-needed touch of "realism" that only a Cousland Warden can become the monarch's consort. The game (like most games, which is an oft-repeated pet peeve of mine) really doesn't have nearly enough consequences and restrictions in response to what you do and are. So it is good to see that one, at least. I have zero emotional stake in the situation, admittedly, but even if I did I would like that one reminder that the whole damn world doesn't entirely revolve around the player character.

Exactly. When an athiest goes out of their way to say how bad and wrong and stupid religion is, they are just hypocrrits who are being as intolerant and pig-headed as the religions they claim to hate. I am a very spiritual person who is madly in love with an athiest. We are caring, compassionate, and understanding of one another's beliefs. We don't weaponize them. We respect one another too much, and have too much tolerance for the views of others in general to ever do that.

At NO time does she try and force her beliefs on you. At NO time is she unwilling to accept that she might be wrong.

Mostly agree... except with her dialogue with Morrigan. She comes across as a bit preachy, constantly pestering Morrigan about the Maker.
