So, are there any women who don't like Alistair?

Re: the dwarf thing...coincidence I'm sure. Most of my characters are human males, which tends to confuse people (I'll still romance Zev with my human males, though, because I'm a dirty woman and the boy on boy thing is hawt).
So yes, I do prefer Alistair as a companion to a male character than a romantic interest, although he's only tolerable so long as you agree with him. It did annoy me that you don't even get to find out about the premature dying thing if you have sufficient approval. I think that would come as a nasty surprise to those Wardens of mine who haven't got on with Al, seeing as they wouldn't find out until they spoke to Riordan way down the line.

Probably so. That´s why I had Alistair kill Loghain right now and persuaded him to marry my WardenB)

] Well that's highly irresponsible. Feeding all of Ferelden to darkspawn because you're pissed at one guy? I suppose since Howe is a sociopath who doesn't even pretend to be a good guy (except in the Origin a little and even then he insults Cailan and if you talk to his guards they say how important it is that they no who you are which kind of freaked me out the first time I played it) he has to die and so it won't really be an issue and you'll almost have to side with Alistair on his desire for vengeance or end up a hypocrite.
Well is that so? First, I would not feed all of Ferelden to the Darkspawn - I´d only kill half the nobility before proceeding to the final battle. And after seeing what the likes of Howe and Vaughan do I really fail to see how that would harm Ferelden. Hell, every dead noble is probably an improvement for the biggest part of the Fereldan citizens...
(On a side note, in Howe´s case Riordan even says that his death has produced "no small amount of cheer among the citizens")
Secondly, would it be so bad to let Loghain do this on his own? I mean, if the Loghain-fans are right he will prove his skill and defeat the blight alone, if not.....
The Grey Wardens save everything, right? In this case a country; a "true" Grey Warden wouldn´t care much. Riordan even says that if the situation in Ferelden can´t be solved they will prepare to stop the Blight after Ferelden is defeated, so the possibility to let Ferelden fall wouldn´t be so far away from the Warden-way.

The first playthrough I didn’t even like him much since I played Dragon age right after having completed The elder scrolls: Oblivion and the similarities between Alistair and a character from that game annoyed me a lot. I'm over that now but I haven't played that many female characters and prefer the Zevran romance so Alistair will probably be single or with Anora forever in my game.

Heh yes, you have my sympathies. I generally like the badass guys rather than the nice/chivalrous guys, and in most Bioware games us women get stuck romancing the nice guys. I have unrequited crushes on Loghain and Canderous (KotOR) but fortunately, a nice lady called Aeryn made an awesome Sarevok romance mod for ToB, for which I am extremely grateful. (And especially because I cannot stand Anomen, ugh. Alistair is a big improvement over him, at least).
And that's why I love mods! I'm currently writing a Loghain mod, with more conversations, cutscenes, Landsmeet outcomes, a romance option, and whatnot. I wasn't planning on posting it, but people have approached me actually wanting it
Re: the dwarf thing...coincidence I'm sure. Most of my characters are human males, which tends to confuse people (I'll still romance Zev with my human males, though, because I'm a dirty woman and the boy on boy thing is hawt).
I'm a girl and my characters are mostly male, too, for the same reason! Because it's Hawt. LoL. My main is a male that broke up with Zevran for Alistair (because Zev was "just for fun"). Then I started another game with a girl character to become queen, but I ended up liking Loghain instead >_< ... And now I started another character who was going to romance Zev, but I didn't know about Tamlen!
Wow, I never thought of that.It did annoy me that you don't even get to find out about the premature dying thing if you have sufficient approval. That said, I find it hard to dislike him, even despite his hypocritical temper tantrums. All my characters have their own flaws, so they're really no better. He gets teased and sometimes tossed around a little in my games now, but all in good fun. I'd still defend him from angry forum posters. XD

I can't stand him. I thought he was a little whiny, but okay until we were a bit past Lothering. First strikes against him was his bullying Dog...I mean, wth? Then his interactions with other party members as we traveled.

Awww he and Dog get along fine. Actually most of the companions grow into being pretty good friends by the end, and it's cute. They're kind of snippy at first but if you give them until the end they get much more playful.

But after several playthroughs, I prefer to have Alistair as a friend and Zevran as the romance option (much more fun and much better background story, imo).
Also, after reading The Stolen Throne, I was no longer able to kill Loghain
So, Alistair will always end up married to Anora and Loghain is spared by Dark Ritual (my favorite ending).
For some reason, I believe that Anora is much better option for Alistair than my PC(s).

He suffers from First Boyfriend Syndrome. I've used this analogy before when this issue comes up on threads, but to me he's the guy you dated in college/school and for whatever reason you parted, and when you see him on facebook you're all "oh, so he's King, huh." Or "oh, so he's a wandering drunk. Right."

It also doesn't help that his tent scene is so so bad and makes me want to run back to Zevran every single time.

The correct term is "enhancements," thank you.
And see, it's very easy to feel differently about Alistair every playthrough based on the PC's personality. CE romanced him, HN thought he was stupid but married him anyway, DE will hate him.
And Princess will find true love.

I've only done three completed playthroughs, and Alistair has been different in them all.
*Brosca- he's the annoying kid brother who gets punched in the arms and told to grow a pair and made him king
*Aeducan- ran away with the 'stair to be Grey Wardens
*Mahariel- he's a king again but without anora, scarred and burned by Morrigan.

You wouldn't abandon Ferelden to its fate if Howe became a Warden? Then you're not doing what Alistair does. If Loghain becomes a Warden he either dies, becomes King but stays out of the Blight, or leaves Ferelden. Either way, he doesn't even try to help and even if he gets executed he still tried to abandon them.Tirigon wrote...

Aside from the fact that you're mad noble-murdering tendencies is no way to get the Ferelden army on your side (and they do make up the bulk of the troops) everyone's going to hate you afterwards and good luck keeping the candidate you endorsed on the throne so hello more civil war.
And even Loghain's most ardent defenders, unless I'm much mistaken, don't believe he can stop the Blight without the Wardens, if only because someone has to make a demon baby/sacrifice themselves to destroy the Archdemon.
Riordan says no one thinks the situation in Ferelden can be salvaged because they destroyed their army and are fighting a civil war instead of acknowledging the Blight. You leaving just when all the pieces are coming together and you have a new army because you're pissed at Howe? Hardly 'true' warden behavior. If it had been an option Riordan might have suggested you recruit him, too.
Leaving people to die at the hands of the darkspawn just because you don't get your way concerning one man...how can you even begin to justify that?

@ Sarah.
As Loghain's self proclaimed number 1 fan, I know he would have lost without the Wardens, even if he succeeded in killing the archdemon once.
But his miscalculation is based on understandable ignorance. No one really knows why the Wardens are necessary (not even the PC). So Loghain decided to see theWardens as nothing more than an exagerrated tale. Probably Cailan's fascination with the Wardens made them sound more like a myth for Loghain.
