I realize that you can beat the game without having to buy anything, but what are some ways that you can make money in the game? In DA:O, you were able to spam lyrium potions but now the ingredients price out weighs the selling price of the potions.

Once you get into the game a little you'll be rolling in it. IIRC Woolsie gives you about 60 sovereigns for getting the merchants, and there's some other large rewards. I had waaaay more money on hand in Awakenings than I ever had in Origins lol.

Have you made any paragon runes?

I made some grandmaster ones my second time through but didn't get up to paragon. I can see how that can eat up some money, true. But I had over 200 sovereigns at one point...but then I also didn't do much for upgrading anyone's armor :P

lol! Gotcha. Okay, maybe not ideal but you could stuff an Origins character's inventory with grandmaster runes then import that character...they'll have all those runes and it'll save you a little cash when runecrafting. You could also save up expensive armors and stuff and sell them once you get into Awakenings. Of course this doesn't help if you want to do an Orlesian Warden or you don't want to start over.

I don't believe there are armor runes in DA:O, but I see where you're coming from.

You're right, there aren't. So yeah for armor runes you're still stuck shelling out I'm afraid. Should have clarified that also only works for weapon runes lol.

Use the console if you're on a PC. The debug room has everything in the game. Otherwise, just sell everything to Bodahn and then save before you transfer your character.

Just click on the bodies of dead enemies and sell gear you don't need.

Awakening is a whole new league as far as money goes. You can get 15+ sovereigns from random encounters on the map, that sort of thing.

Potent Lyrium potions aren't even the highest tier of lyrium potions anymore.

Pretty damn insane ! Endgame i had my warrior at 850 + hp  using paragon stout runes and healthpool boosting rings and amulets as well as the skills that boost health. That and using intensifying runes on melee weaponry maxes your survivability and damage output. 3 of those those intensifying runes on a melee weapon add 15 % crit chance and 60 % more crit damage.

But if you really wanna see overpowered theres 2 things you gotta try out if you havent allready. First is a full dexterity archer rogue, second is a spirit warrior archer. Both classes and specs are insanely good and effective for soloing, even on the highest of difficulty settings.  The rogue is probably more versatile since you can get away from a fight if it gets rough using stealth or negate incoming damage using ghost or stone form or whatever the talent is called.
In fact, you can solo entire awakenings easily with either of those classes :) I found other classes not nearly as effective at soloing since a chain overwhelm when surrounded by mobs like the children or werewolves can and will kill you while if your arching you wont even be in range.

I got carried away on this :P Apologies for being totally offtopic ^^

I don't know where you have been buying your ingredients but the appothicary(sp) in the city allows you to spam potiant potions, buy all four ingredients from him earn about 13 gp per 99 potions. you can earn more if you but the Lyruim dust from the appothicary(sp) and the rest from the dwarf in the inn you earn about 21 gp per 99 potions.

BTW I like going to the inn becaues when you leave and go north around it to the market you hit an npc talking interaction every time unless you have gone through them all.

sorrry for the miss spellings

The quests are very lucrative. Even one of the Chanter's Board quests netted me 20gp.

Be careful with runes: with some of them, the Masterpiece and Paragon versions don't offer that much of a step up, stat-wise, from the Grandmaster level. Check the stats carefully to make sure that you're spending your gold wisely.

don't forget that dumping everything into the party chest will level it (if it can be).

better stuff is worth more. But even with doing that, I never had to sell any of it for cash. There was always plenty for runes and so forth.
