Shale:
I wish to say that it has been pleasant fighting at the qunari's side.
Sten: I feel the same. You are a remarkable construct, kadan. A warrior to be feared.
Shale: No more than the qunari, surely. The way it strikes down its foes, marvelous!
Sten: I smile each time you roar a battle cry, knowing our foes tremble.
Shale: I could watch you fight all day long--the skill you display, the form, how the light plays on its muscles... I mean... yes. Well done. With the fighting.
Sten: You, as well.
Shale: Right.

Shale is the only woman who can actually survive Qunari sex, so why not?

Then they would promptly get kicked out of the party.

Well, most people seemed to have disliked Haer'Dalis, so they either killed him or let him leave .... it would be interesting if they made this a tougher dilemma for the player, by making the jealous companion more vital.

BTW, I always found the jealousy scenario kind of bugged because I romanced Aerie and had him in the party, and actually was waiting for this confrontation to occur (but it never did). However, guides claimed it was supposed to happen. Eventually, using a little bit of ... hacking ... I made it happen ... just to see how it played out.

The Nathaniel/Velanna romance in my game would end quite tragically when I KILL HER FOR TOUCHING MY MAN.

I agree with the op. Inter-companion romance would be an interesting and revealing experience. It's very meeh that only the PC gets to romance companions, who stand up in a line and wait to be picked.

This. It's a little weird that you pretty much have your "pick of the litter," so to speak, and you have to do little more than select the right dialogue choice and your quarry is yours. I think it would make it much more realistic if your companions had their own preferences, and aren't just sitting around waiting for you to say the word.

There could be indirect ways for the player to affect what happens (otherwise how much would it suck if the person you wanted for your LI went with someone else), or perhaps even some direct ways (like you do with Oghren/Felsi).

From DAO, I always thought Leliana/Zevran could be interesting...but hands off Morrigan. Yes, Sten, I'm talking to you (please don't hurt me).

I thought the party banter between Natheniel and Velanna (when he was calling her m'lady- shades of 'as you wish'....) was about the only banter worth listening to in Awakening. The rest of it fell far short of what we got in DAO, mostly the members taking cheap shots at one another.

Would have been more interesting if, as time went on, we saw the cheap shots and antagonism slowly give way to grudging respect and camaraderie- as would be proper since they were fighting and bleeding together, and sharing the joys/burdens of being Grey Wardens.

Shale and Sten would be a very cute couple, though.
And the sexy-time cutscene would be interesting, to put it lightly.
