I like Jacob as a character.

Not so much as a squadmate. Pistols and shotguns? No rapid-ffire weapons? For a soldier? Really?

And don't get me started on that underwhelming passive talent. Man, Zaeed and Thane must be stealing his lunch money all the time.

I do find him kinda dull, and I looked down on him in the very first mission when he said "We're low on thermal clips." I had full ammo FFS!

Horrible pickup lines. He second guesses everything you do, even though he's a RANK AND FILE SOLIDER, not Shepards second in command(Miranda). What the hell has he done that gives him the right to second guess a man who SAVED THE UNIVERSE.

He turned his back on the Alliance to join a terrorist group yet has the BALLS to call Thane a Mercenary. He doesn't like Grunt. Insults Tali by mentioning the AI, as if to say, hah our AI is firmly under our control. Can't say that about the Geth can you!? 

He has a horrible voice.

He tries to act all bad ass but falls short. Everything about him. Gravity is one mean mother? The hell man? He just tries too hard to be black.

His loyalty mission is like, wtf? Its like some random N7 mission with a couple extra lines added to make it about him. His presence makes absolutely no difference in regards to the mission what so ever. The other missions all give some insight into the character. I got nothing from his.

He says he couldn't keep Miranda happy...gee I wonder why. The fact he even mentions her is like some pathetic bragging right. "Yeah I hit that."

His powers suck. His weapons suck.

His only redeeming quality is watching him die.

i'm playing a femshep right now. got kinda flirty with jacob - his romance really really reminds me of tali's.



still, we both agreed the mission comes first. (i plan on going garrus this time)



that said, jacob's a great character. he respects shepard, is honest with shepard, and is loyal to shepard. for a paragon, his discomfort with cerberus makes him immediately sympathetic, and his loyalty mission is pretty damn unconventional.



in battle, though, he's about as squishy as tali...which is not a good thing. you have to make them use their pistols or they'll simply get too close to the enemy and die. :\\



....one of these days i'll do a playthrough with just jacob and tali and see how far i get

Not sure why you think Jacob is a "soldier". I instantly thought he was a ME1 style vanguard (Jack too). His weapons, and abilities made sense to me.

Completely bland character and extremely cheesy. (Alistair from DAO is practically the king of cheese, but at least he manages to be endearing about it)

The ONLY reason I am even in the slightest bit interested in him is because of his physique (drool-worthy, especially the abs) and the fact that he is a black man, thus guaranteeing he has a big you know what.

As a squad character, well there's others that do what he can do but better. As a result, I rarely select him.



As far a romances go, when I first got ME2 I was curious about him. But when my femshep immediately started talking to him like a ****, and only after just meeting him no less...well I started to avoid him (and wondered if Miranda hadn't screwed with femshep's brain a bit while she was being rebuilt). Still, it was when Jacob said he wasn't good enough for Miranda that I decided to never romance him. Sorry, Jacob, but if you're not good enough for Miranda, you're definately not good enough for my femshep.



Other than that, he's ok. Unfortunately, there's little reason for me to interact with him. Wouldn't mind sharing some drinks with him at the Citadel, if that were an option.



To be fair, I didn't really like any of the ME2 romance options all that much. I don't like how forward femshep has to be to initiate them. I hated her cheesy grin whenever she spoke with Garrus...like she was intentionally trying to make him uncomfortable (and getting some sort of joy from this). Thane's was the least forced...but his constantly going on about his dead wife killed that one. As a result, it was rather easy for my femshep to stay loyal to Kaidan.

lol half of that just sounds like irrational anger from nowhere & using dumb excuses to be so @.@

He said  it didnt go well with Miranda...how in the world is that bragging? lol He gave an explanation about the Alliance & Cerberus. And this one really made me lol His voice sucks? Rofl what's he supposed to sound like? Chinese? Japanese? Canadian? Help me out here.
He tells Tali to to introduce herself to the AI, better that than for Tali to throw a fit at Shepard not telling her, point being she had to find out at some point & oh yeah, I activated a live geth on the ship & it's a crew member at that...so, whats your point? His loyalty mission, is like everyone elses, handling business before the suicide mission, which I might add wouldn't of even happen if Miranda didn't help. Actually, I'm not even going to go any further than that lol that whole post was pretty ridiculous rofl but thanks for the laugh.

Although I really enjoy femshep and Jennifer Hale, and I do like Jacob as a character... He just kinda falls flat when you compare him to the emotional pull that the other characters have. Hes not especially unique in combat, which means I dont normally take him along either.



Im actually surprised that when femshep talks him and he turns towards her and says: "need something commander?" she simply doesn't walk up to him, grab his crotch and say: "This... This is mine now."

Lol I forgot Jacob existed for a while... since he stopped talking to me in pretty much the beginning of the game. I also never use him in battle, there are better options. I also hate how Femshep talks to him like she's throwing herself at him even if she isn't romancing him. (Though this is kinda a problem I had with a lot of the romances). I thought Jacob was cool at first but quickly became disenchanted.

Kay. I can sum up my dislike of him in a very simple way. "Cerberus didn't bring you back just for us to second guess your command." He then spends the entire game second guessing shepards command. Now for the rest.

The fact he even mentions Miranda at all in that context is wrong. Its information that wasn't necessary or pertinent to anyone but himself. He could've left it at 'its ancient history'. The better man than I comment was pointless and boarder line whinning. Then again, given his personality I can see -why- Miranda would drop him.

Next up Cerberus. He joined them, by choice. Reasons are irrelevant. Cut and dry he went from being part of the solution, to part of the problem regardless of his reasons.

In doing so,  he loses all creditability and rights to criticize others. The fact he goes out of his way to try and justify it, while having the balls to judge other squad members...lawl.

Then the whole thing with Tali, tactless. I was looking for the option to punch him and ask him what the hell he thought he was doing.

After the lulz are done, Jacob is a bad character and will still be a bad character. Regardless of how anyone chooses to express it. Universal fact. :devil:

If anything, Tali's romance is more like Garrus's.

Jacob's is just retarded. Especially with the way he objectafys (sp?) Shepard as "The Priiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiize."

They are. Hell, together I think Jack and Jacob have the full allotment of Vanguard skills (minus Charge).
