I'm not saying it's a bad thing - it's really very good for the story that pretty much every squadmate is reasonably approachable as a romance option. It's just that I had a very hard time staying loyal to Ashley. xD
Being a male Shepard, at first I wanted to hit on Miranda. Through some reading up I did on the ME wikia I found out, though, that if you don't romance anyone in the game, you would stare at Ashley's picture before the final battle etc, indicating some sort of follow-up for ME3 (damn you BioWare you better give me one). Decided that was the path I was gonna choose. Little did I know that there were so many interesting romances to pursue in ME2.
Jack came around. Now, this is a girl I'd usually run like hell from IRL, but I read a bit about the story arc of the romance and I really, really wanted to give her a chance. Just, to feel love. And stuff.
Then came Tali. Well dammit. Checking a video of the romance I felt so tempted to romance her. Way, way cute. Bit of a clumsy weirdo. Kind of girl I'd run towards IRL.
Miranda wasn't interesting anymore at this point - I just wanted to bang her ingame for her looks. Storywise Jack or Tali were way more interesting.
I didn't really like Samara. Even though it's not a fully explorable romance option, I wouldn't have pursued her even if she was.
Rejecting Miranda was relatively easy - Jack was uncomfortable and Tali just made me feel bad. xD I just wanted to stay loyal to Ashley. Adds more to the story IMO. Due to the amount of characters in ME2 I felt that the individual ones weren't worked out as thoroughly as ME's ones. Didn't really get to know them as well as Ashley so I figured I'd stick with her, seeing as how she's nice and the romance story was quite fulfilling.
How did you experience all the romances in ME2?
