After Horizon, Ashley can go to hell imo.

I think Ashley's outrage is reasonable since Shepard now finds himself willingly aligned with the very organization that tried to use the Thorian Creepers and Rachni as bio-weapons and were also responsible for the murder of Admiral Kahoku.

Given Cerberus's status and infamy, I'm actually surprised that the SR2 is allowed to land at the Citadel or any other civilized planet in Council space.

I personally hate the new Paramour achievement for ME2.  I think you should get the achievement if you stay loyal to your LI in ME1.  The new achievement is little more than a device to grind out another playthrough for people that absolutely have to have every achevement unlocked, yet have LI's intact from ME1.

Don't forget that whole research into trying to create super soldiers (reason why they will never get a collector base in my paragon playthroughs). Also if you have a spacer background, Cerberus is responsible for the tresher maw attack on Akuze.

I was severely disappointed that Tali was not a LI in ME1 so when I heard she was a LI for ME2 I was already set. Strangely enough her characters attitude is much like the kind of girls I'm used to IRL so it was a shoe in for me. I have to say I enjoyed her loyalty mission the most also (second was Legion) because I love the Geth vs. Quarrian storyline.

Second play through I'm thinking Miranda...I mean why not? Besides that skin tight uniform isn't all bad.

Hands down, Talis my favorite :).

I have multiple playthroughs to meet the needs of my adoration for both Kaidan and Garrus. The Garrus romance took me by surprise because I'd never considered him a match for Shep before ME2, but it made so much sense. They had been friends for so long and he'd always been right by her side. He didn't even doubt her when she recruited him on Omega. He knew she'd do the right thing. I could see how two people could fall in love that way. You've got my back, I've got yours. When I think about my 15 year marriage with my husband, we're a couple of awkward, goofy people who truly are best friends too. It just clicked into place for my femShep and Garrus.

But Kaidan.... Kaidan! Argh, they drew him too well. Those dark eyes and those lips. I was smitten even before the Carth Onasi voice came into play. There's a naked vulnerability between he and Shep in ME1 where you can see the feelings between them developing, like in the locker-almost-kiss scene. They're really reaching out to each other. I want them to ultimately be together. It's so heartbreaking to see my poor Shep standing there on Horizon watching him go. Just a sucker for a good romantic sub-plot, I guess.

Good thing I can make as many Sheps as I want.

I have playthroughs with all romances (even Kaiden...) but Jacob as it stands. But on my "canon" male Shepard I am sticking with Liara, through hell if need be. I'll admit the Tali romance was cute but she still seems more like the little sister to my Shepard and more of a friend than anything else. Miranda is hot (at times), her accent is a very nice plus, but her attitude is very off-putting to me. I honestly don't give a rat's ass how much modification you've had, you're not more of a person than anyone else. I wanted Jack to **** slap her during their little fight, perhaps it would have put some sense into her. And speaking of Jack, I actually liked her up until her one-liner on her loyalty mission. "****. It's complicated." Really, Avril? Have fun squatting in the sub-deck.

I was never really attracted to Tali that much in ME1. Ashley was always my favourate. I mean i liked tali well enough and she looked good in her suit but the thought of romancing her didn't cross my mind till ME2. Saying that after playing through 2 and romancing her she became my favourate character. Weird. My guess is because she seems to have matured alot in the 2nd game.

anyone else feel this way? cos i havn't met anyone yet who does. maybe i'm crazy........ :|

Ive tried them all, I really think they all have something different to offer players, theres no definitive ultimate romance.

The one that appeals to me most is probably tali which is weird becaus eI didnt like her all that much in the first game

I betrayed Liara for Tali, and i felt a little bad about it, but Tali was much more interesting as a romance that the rest of female characters imho. Here´s hoping that the liara dlc gives some bonus to those who stayed faithful. About Tali ME1->ME2, the model is changed a lot, if you compare the model of Tali with those of other female quarians you will see that Tali is a lot more polished and overall more good looking too. She doesn´t have for example those tubes down the neck under the helmet like she used to in ME1.

I haven't tried them all yet - so far I've romanced Miranda (paragone male), Jack (renegade male) and Garrus (mixed female) (I am female, myself - but enjoy playing male characters as well).
Jack was more enjoyable than Miranda - she's a tough nut to crack (with the emphasis on nut) but there's a sweet girl underneath.
Garrus, though, will be hard to beat. I've played BGII, KotOR, Jade Empire, Dragon Age and ME and this is the first time Bioware's managed to make me squee over a love interest. It better be carried over into ME3, is all I'm saying.
I have yet to do a loyal playthrough but I intend to have a Kaiden and Ashley romance carry over to ME3. I was never keen on Liara, though. My Liara lovin' Shep ended up with Miranda.

I accidentally got into a romance with Jack, Tali and Miranda (But shut them down as soon as they came up.)  All I was trying to be was friendly. <_<

Polite conversation should not lead to romantic encounters. Please make it easier to steer clear of romance in future conversations BioWare.

Quoted for truth. Felt the same way about this issue. Being friendly doesn't always imply you want to get intimate with someone. >_> All I wanted to do is know where my crew was at, not pursue my libido.

The most bizar and downright stupid thing about it is the fact that the dialogue abruptly stops when you complete or cut off the relationship prematurely. It seems Shepard and/or the squadmember only wanted to get into bed with eachother, which is shallow at best.

All in all: They should have kept the game 6 more months in developement. That way, they could have made a great game with a lot of story, backgrounds and deeper dialogue options. All we got is a rushed game with massive amounts of untapped/wasted potential. I'm not saying ME2 was bad, but it could have been a LOT better.

this (Mass Effect 1 had the same problem)
Kotor was well done, even Dragon Age had friendship paths.

romance?
Liara: ME1+ME2
The ME2 LIs don't appeal to me.

I was hoping to stay loyal to Ashley my first playthrough also, but I decided otherwise (wanted to get the achievement anyway; 50pts is a must!). I ended up romancing Miranda. HOWEVER, my first playthrough wasn't intended to be an ME3 playthrough more than a "just for fun" kind of run. I'm going back on a serious playthrough soon enough and will stay loyal to Ashley. I agree that her encounter on Horizon wasn't exactly welcoming, but she did apologize after that, didn't she?

That said, I have a secondary female character who romanced Kaidan in ME1. Much to Kaidan's dismay, I will romance Thane (love him) and happily proceed to import that save into ME3 when it comes out. Thane > Kaidan any day of the week.

In every Bioware game, going all the way back to BG2 I always seem to go for the 'Psycho stab you in your sleep' type Love Interests, a category which frankly both Miranda and Jack fall into. Yet for some reason Tali is easily my favourite in ME2. I guess your tastes change as you get older.

The romances are a gimmick imo, especially after me1 to me2. Nothing but a couple of dialog options and then you screw. There is nothing more to them, they don't impact the story in any way.

All these "adoration" threads and make X into a LI are ... unsettling.

Maybe Jack falls in that category, but not Miranda. Miranda's a lot more reasonable.

I am still underwhelmed by all LI... I liked Liara, but far too often I had the feeling I am her older brother. Ash has neither the look, nor the interests nor the character I like. Miranda sadly doesn't have the look of her voice actress (face is similar but not the same), but she also didn't catch me with her character. Tali... sorry, but the look is ridiculous and I had the feeling of being the older brother (once more) of a geth-racist. Jack has a style that I like, but I ain't into psychos... Kelly hot, but I don't like submissive women...

I just can't understand this stir about romances...

I thought I would have done the same with Kaidan [me playing femShep] but after Horizon, he just pissed me off.
Beside story probably will get more interesting with a new romance in ME3. I just hope.
