Can anyone give me step-by-step instructions on how to make tactics work for the controlled character?

I've installed the Advanced Tactics mod, and added the following lines to the file ...\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Settings\\DragonAge.ini, but that didn't have any effect on the selected character.
[ATOptions]
EnableCPAI=1

I also installed the mod called "Activate Tactics for Selected Character" and didn't see any change from that either.

Any suggestions?

I'm not quite sure what you're asking - do you mean that you want the AI to control the character you have currently selected? That seems like an odd thing to want, so I'm not sure if that's what you mean. :huh:

On a side-note, since you installed the advanced tactics mod (I have it too), you might want to install this fix to it: http://www.dragonage...file.php?id=852

After installing advanced tactics I started seeing "invisible objects" at different locations, sometimes blocking my path. That's a strange side effect of the advanced tactics mod - the fix I link to above fixes that.

Eh, I'm a brand new user of Advanced Tactics so I'm not sure how useful this is... I got two new "skills" after installing Advanced_Tactics_30_beta-181.dazip. The skills can if desired be dragged to the shortcut bar, where you can activate/deactivate tactics use for the controller player-character (and see floating text telling you the state).

I found the feature disturbing, so I have it deactivated. But it seemed to work. Guess it can be nice if you really, really hate to heal yourself or whatever. :)

Tactics work fine for any party member, but if you have direct control of a particular party member then the game immediately switches tactics off. As such, there's no way to play on "autopilot" if that's what you're asking.

If you have Advanced Tactics installed, it gives you two new skills, labelled "Possessed" and "Traitors". "Possessed" activates tactics for the character you're controlling, and "Traitors" commands rogues to automatically move into backstab positions. Simply click on the "Possessed" skill and it should show a little message above your character that reads "POSSESSED: ON". It scrolls by pretty quick, so make sure you're paying attention.

I don't know what effect that added line to the .ini file will have, so I can't help you there. My suggestion is to remove your addition and just stick with what's given in the mod.

The added line to the .ini file was an older way to enable the "possesed" option. In later versions Anakin55 changed it to be a toggle ability in your skills window.

Personally, I love it. It really works for my playstyle.

I play on the Xbox 360, so I can't use any of this either way, but the ability to make your rogues automatically get into backstab position sounds awesome!

Is this mod available for DA2? Coz I want to set my tactics for my Hawke and see how far he can go fighting a big boss using the tactics I customized for him. I love the Possessed skill in DAO and I want to try it out in DA2 if it's possible at all. :D
