I've also played ME1 recently, and comparatively the walking controls on ME1 are much more detailed, meaning that you can walk at any pace you wish.
For ME2: If you're the kind of gamer that, outside of fighting situations, likes to take your time, explore, and just WALK around the area (like myself) then you know how weird the walking controls are: you literally CAN'T in a normal manner.

I noticed this too. The left thumbstick walk/jog range is very small, you need to hover it steady just off center to walk and jog. I'm thinking of buying some Kontrolfreek thumbstick extenders which supposedly give more leverage/finer control near the centre of the stick.blackashes411 wrote...
YES! It may be a minor detail to some people, but to me it's pretty damn annoying. haha. Right after Shepard finishes a conversation, she just DARTS LEFT! lol

The thing that really annoys me about the movement controls is how "storming" is linked to the direction of the camera, not the direction Shepard is facing, which means that if you're trying to run away from enemy forces back to cover, you need to spin the camera all the way round to face back the way you came, then storm, rather than just pull back on the thumbstick and hit A.

I could literally walk all the time in ME1 with zero problems.

But I am so glad they improved his movement this time. I have gone back to playing Mass Effect, and his movement in that game is way too feminine. It was the first thing I spotted the day I bought Mass Effect and it annoyed the hell out of me. Thankfully the gameplay was a gift from the gods so I was able to look past it.
But now and then you catch his arse wobbling as he runs, and your like 'Ahh bloody hell BioWare, who did you motion capture for this? Ru Paul or something?'.

Dissaproving, it looks completely ridiculous, especially on femShep.

Also cue video of Bioware HQ and everyone runs around all lopsided with their head tilted off to the side and looking at the floor.

Yeah lol. It always seems to happen just after I have finished talking to joker. I will jog back to the galaxy map, and its like Shepard is listening to eye of the tiger on his Space-Pod. The way he swaggers with his head bobbing is like he is training for a boxing match lol.

Wow I totally forgot, there's a difference between female and male shepard! haha, cuz I have a female shepard. I played both genders in ME1, and the walking animations were just fine, IMO not too feminine or manly just in between.
ME2? Well now both shepards walk like freakin man, and that REALLY annoys me with my female shepard. <_<
So I'm the complete opposite of you in opinion of walking, haha

Anyways, the walking doesn't really bother me because, well...how often do you actually walk in the game anyways? I could see people doing it to role-play or something so it doesn't look ridiculous jogging around in places that you wouldn't run around in, but still.

I suppose the reason it's most noteable after speaking with Joker (other than the non-stress situation leaving the player with more spare attention for details), would simply be that it's not all that obvious that the crewmen seated at the first two workstations on the port side, leading up to the bridge, are the source of the voices heard the first few times you walk that way - took me quite some time to pinpoint. ...and then Shepard keeps staring at them at every passing, even when they have nothing more to say.
Shepards slight handicap I don't mind - it further cements her/his cardboard cut-out character, with the way (s)he soldiers on like it's nothing.
