Dude, all I can say is that if you can't handle Mass Effect on casual maybe you should stick to pen and paper RPGs and other turn based stuff cause real-time video games just aren't for you. I know that's a pretty nasty thing to say, but Mass Effect is NOT a hard game on normal let alone casual. I'm terrible at shooters and strafe controls and I managed just fine. You've got to use strategy in that geth sequence unless you've got a full tank squad. That's why Reegor gives you the battle field lay out before hand so you can consider and strategize. It's supposed to be stiff right there. The geth spawn until you take out the colossus and there's three different ways to close with the thing. Look before you leap and all that.

Hey man, the only game my BF is good at is Transport Tycoon, and I'm still alive.
But even he managed to finish both ME1 and ME2 on casual... We were proud.

OP: I actually love the shooter aspects of the game, being a shooter fan. I am a RPG fan too however, and I too miss the RPG aspects they removed (almost completely), I think the game could have been that much better if they had just added and not subtracted.
As far as Tali recruitment, there is a glitch where the geth spawn infinitely. I've run into it a few times. Save and reload fixes it I think.
If your not good at shooters you might actually pick a class which requires less precision aiming or tactical relocating. I find when I play engineer or sentinel I can sit back quite a ways and rely on the auto-aim effects of biotics/techs, and thats on insanity.
