Whydoes the Geth Rifle have to be so blah?

And chances are, your SMG actually would work better.

That's because it IS blah. For being somewhat difficult to obtain it's remarkably weak compared to the Tempest and Locust.
Well, if you didn't get the Tempest on the same mission, I might say there's some merit to the GPR ... 'cos then, due to there being 2 upgrades on the mission, there'd be a reason to pick it up earlier than the Tempest.
Personally, I love the Shuriken ... so I'd just use that.
Shuriken isn't very good for squadmates, though ... 'cos they don't know how to button mash.

To be fair, it's just as blah as most other Assault Rifles that aren't the Vindicator or Revenant.

Ha! I had to laugh at this given that there is only one other assault rifle.

It's probably weak because you all suck at aiming, no offense.
It's weak because it does less damage vs shields and barriers than any SMG.

Eh... You'll find that any ammo power is more useful on a gun that does more damage, because the bonus is a percentage of the base damage. So GPR still sucks compared to vindicator.
But the fact that it sounds cool and is automatic means it's fun factor is off the charts.

It all boils down to playstyle. I love the GPR, combined with Inferno Ammo I wiped things on Insanity.
Seriously, how does that work? I honestly want to know, cause I want to use it on my Adept. With Tungsten ammo or max Warp ammo, not sure which.

Its a decent gun; but honestly assault rifles aren't the best choice for a bonus weapon, particularly if you have the Locust SMG which outclasses the GPR in every way.
My personal favorite gun is the Vindicator assault rifle; but unless you're a soldier who can slowdown time with the Adrenaline Rush power, you'll be better off with the Locust since the Vindicator excels when you can lay down repeated headshots with it which is considerably easier when your enemies are moving half as fast as you are. The Revenant assault rifle would be good in the hands of any class provided you like to get in close since it requires very little accuracy; but unless you want to mod the game you can't get it unless you're a soldier.
If you're an adept I'd take sniper rifle training and use the Viper to lay down fire on hard to reach targets. The Viper is very accurate, very powerful and very easy to use for any class. Although if you like getting in close you could go with shotgun training and roll with the Eviscerator; but I think the Viper would be far more useful for an Adept.

Agreed. The only trouble I've had as an Adept are scions... prior to the Viper. 12 shots with Warp Ammo Viper, throw a Warp, reload and repeat. They go down easy with sniper rifle training.
Besides, SMGs are better than ARs anyway.

I used it on my Soldier 'till I got the accuracy upgrade, then I switched over to Revenant. I was also on NG+, so that might have something to do with it. As an Adept, I would definately just stick with the Locust, and shoot for getting the Viper.

I recommend Vindicator for an Adept. It's so accurate with the accuracy upgrade that it's almost like a Viper with no scope. So it can be used at short range too. And it wipes the floor with Tempest in terms of accuracy and damage to armor and health.
This. And most importantly: it doesn't go into scope zoom whenever you use an ability from cover.
The Vindicator is still an excellent choice for the Adept, Engineer and Sentinel. A lot of people say it's a bit pointless with the Locust. Well, I say the Locust somewhat loses its point when you can get the Vindicator. The Vindicator is better than the Locust. With it, the Locust just becomes the backup weapon used to preserve Vindicator ammo. You might actually be better off taking the Vindicator and the Tempest. Really, the classes that benefit most from the Locust are the Infiltrator and Vanguard.

Gotta disagree w/ that choice. The Locust SMG is just a little(tiny, tiny bit imo) worse, and you don't have to wait and use your resources on assault rifles upgrades while you are stuck with a weak little SMG. I think I also remember that assault rifles and SMGs both use Iridium.cruc1al wrote...

Also, more squadmates use SMGs than assault rifles, so you're better off imo getting sniper.
