maybe the mass media would have you believe that, but some great Emo and Screamo groups still exist I think Cap'n Jazz is reuniting even ^_^

If you want some true emo you just need to be able to dig and stealth through the Scene stuff

I don't wat "true emo", thank you. And no, I don't want "screamo" either, that crap is even worse.

I'm fine with my heavy, black, death and folk metal.

The song isn't that bad and if it bothers so many people, why don't you skip the credits? You don't exactly miss anything if you do.

I didn't knew that the first time now did I.;) I was hoping for an extra easter-egg or "hidden" footage during or after the credits. Most games and movies have things like that these days. I was hoping Dragon Age had hidden a little extra inside or after the credits too, but I didn't exactly hope for crappy music as a little extra.:P

If it bugs you that much, you can disable music, and run music via a different program (I sometimes run iTunes while playing DAO). I'm also going to venture a guess and say that you can probably alter the music files via the Toolset (though I could be very far off, but I'm assuming that you can do basically the same things as with, say, Oblivion).

And did I just see you say you like heavy, black, and death metal, but not "screamo"? I wasn't even aware that there were a number of bands that did any of those without screamo...you learn something new every day, I guess.

Wait, what?

It's a pretty diverse genre.  Ranges from silly Finnish polka-influenced stuff like Korpiklaani, to more atmospheric Pagan romanticism such as Moonsorrow, to Middle Eastern progressive stuff along the lines of Orphaned Land.  I tend to be a big fan of the Scandinavian scene, especially bands that are inspired by black metal.

30 seconds to Mars are terrible. The same goes for Tokio Hotel, Adam Lambert, Blink 182, Good Charlotte. There are probably a lot more and some of them may not be in the business anymore but I don't pay too much attention on them.

"Screamo" is (often emotional) screaming and squealing (like a pig). Screamo singers scream (and it sucks).

Black, death or folk metal however, those singers do not scream, they grunt. Grunting is low-pitch growling and/or singing with a demon-like voice. Metal singers grunt.

See? Two total different things.

And there, you have it. (camp merchant from DAO imitation).

My favorite folk metal bands are Equilibrium, Finntroll and Ensiferum. Awesome bands.

To me it seemed like an odd choice and I did not care for it. Not that it's all that important though.

P.S. The end credits song for ME1 was awesome and a perfect fit for that game IMO. C'est la vie! D.S.

Jep, Faunts is awesome. M4 part II is still one of my favorite songs ever made. It's in my top 10 best songs on the planet, for sure.

I think everyone is misunderstanding the point that the OP is making. He's saying that some random pop music doesn't fit with Dragon Age not that he'd rather have Chet Atkins or whatever playing instead. Why wouldn't the credits feature an awesome classical or orchestral score like the rest of the game? Why put in some music that some may like and others dislike when you can just as easily put in a score that fits with the rest of the game? To this point I agree.

Heh...well I don't dislike the music that plays during the scroll of the credits...

Guess I don't get what the fuss is about.   Thirty Seconds to Mars 'was' advertised on their site for awhile...so someone in the decisions department evidently liked what they do.

Random pop music....

Maybe it is "random" but I think the singing voices were nice...and kind of a nice ending to the whole thing.

I'm not sure what he means by "emo"....unless perhaps he thinks it should have been Mortal Kombat music playing at the end.....whatever.

Okay, can someone explain me what the hell 30 Seconds To Mars is doing in the credits from Dragon Age Origins?
I just finished the game for the first time this week and I was really thrilled and exited after the awesome ending. But my exitement soon got smashed to the ground when '30 Seconds To Mars - This is War' starts playing while the credits start rolling. WHAT THE HELL IS THIS KIND OF CRAP MUSIC DOING IN SUCH AN AWESOME FANTASY GAME!?!?!:o

Sorry Manowar was out of town and the Growlers had a case of sore throats.

Man, you guys listen to some crappy music. I really feel sorry for your bad taste in music :(.

I just heard the song "This is War," and I have to say this is by far the worst song to put into an rpg.

I didn't stick around for the end credits because I always finish the game at night, so its naptime.

Also, I couldn't help but laugh at some of the people pasting lyrics to some lame-o song, which pretty much defines an emo.

I think the OP has a legit complaint, but a bad taste in music :D.

Anyways, they should've just put the intro music in the credits that would've pleased everyone.

My taste in music is diverse, so you can't possibly say ALL the music I listen to is crap.;)

To name 6 very diverse bands I all like equally:

Racer X, Equilibrium, Queens of The Stone Age, Led Zeppelin, Kasabian, Wolfmother.

Check out all 6 of them if you don't know them already and dare to tell me you disliked all 6 of them. I bet atleast one of these 6 is a band you will enjoy listening to.

Dude - do you remember the trailers? The Marilyn Manson in those was even worse than 30 secs to mars. I'm jsut glad that Manson didn't feature in the released game.

True enough and I do the same thing with games myself, however I did not think it was that bad, of course I nearly missed the entire song before I realized it was playing since I was reading the credits XD

Finally someone with wits entering this topic. This is EXACTLY what I meant indeed.

Then you should have been eloquent in your opening post and articulated your point accurately. There's always two ways of presenting an opinion, argument or the like when posting. You (the OP) went about it the wrong way while Banon Loire has shown you the right way.

On the top though; yes, the choice of music could have been better i think, but as others have rightfully pointed out - in my opinion - it's hardly an issue getting too upset about, and certainly doesn't 'make or break' the game.

ITT: dudes arguing over stupid stuff.

The credit music is there because the devs wanted it to be. The lyrics or form or genre of the song have dick all to do with why it's present.

I don't understand, though. Seriously, the music used in the credits is now a point of argument? Seriously? I'd put this down to just being a one time only thing but I've seen the same stuff in the Mass Effect forums. I just can't get my head around it. It just seems like the most arbitrary thing anyone could ever point out about the game, or any game for that matter.

Its probably here because everything else there is to possibly complain about, has been complained about.. Boredom is the most likely cause of a thread like this. I, personally, have the in-game music muted when I play and have my own music playing in Media Player during any game I play. That's a way to solve the problem, if you are that against hearing the music the devs chose for the game THEY made.. But hey, to each his own...^_^

why do you even care if you do not like it mute it

also insulting different types of music and classifying them is pointless because you may call some music "emo" while others think it is not it is up to their interpretation also the song in a way fits a little bit into dao however i understand if you dislike the song but do not assume everyone agrees with you and instead be tolerant or not care additionally i apologize for making you a little bit dumber after reading this

At the end of the day whether you think the music fits in well, or if the bands good or bad, is really down to personal tastes, and you can't really begrude somebody just because of it. Myself I don't have too many problems with the band and the lyrics themselves fit well with the story even if the genre of the music doesn't.

But I think the main reason as to why it was put into the game (and the trailers, along with I think I remember was Marilyn Manson) boils down to one point.
Money.
I don't know if any of you have noticed but the media industry is losing millions of £/$, or whatever currenty you happen to have, every year because of illiegal downloading off the internet, (the music industry espically) so they try to claw as much money back as they possibly can, like limited edition stuff, or over priced DLC...or tacking popular bands onto their products like 30StM

SO BioWare gets more buyers and free advertising of their game because they have a popular band stuck right at the end of their credits and trailers, and as you can tell from this tread 30StM also gets free advertising (after all, most people hadn't even realised that the band was somewhere in the game, even by the players that had completed the game twice! But now because of this tread they do, and also know the band a little better)

Ah...if only we had a Dragon Age gangsta rap song to fill the credits out. I think it should be performed by Bodahn and Sandal.

You like Led Zeppelin, so you're alright. And the song was probably put into the credits due to a combination of some developer liking it, and the marketing department making a deal with that band's record label.
