This problem started yesterday, when I try to load a saved game I get this message

"This saved game includes BW premium content.  To load this saved game an owner of the following premium content must log in:

This of DLC

Does't anyone know why this is happening or how to overcome the problem.  I don't want to log in every time I play I'm not interested in profiles and trophies I just want to play the game, besides which I turn of the internet connection so I don't get disturbed by programs that want to update themselves etc while I'm playing.

I know it is possible, but I can't remember the specifics. I don't recall it being difficult though.

Interesting...try just logging out of your EA account in the game.

I just hit the "Logged In" button - lower left hand corner; Hit "log out" button. I was able to load up my save without any problem.

hmm..."I did that but what pain having to do that every time I play" - what do you mean here? If you are logged out now, unless you are auto-logging back in..you should be be able to play offline without log-out again.

To the best of my knowledge this has been an "issue" since game kick-off; Did you do an update, or download anything new yesterday?

When I try to open a save and get the message, I log in then immediately log out again and the game loads no problem.

I did install a mod called 'DLC transfer to Awakening' yesterday to see how it worked, started getting this message so uninstalled it and everything went fine for the rest of the evening, but the problem started again this morning.

That is strange.  When logged out,  I can quit the game, restart, and open up my save and play without logging back in to validate the DLC.  I did this several times to make sure I was not telling you wrong.

I'm not familiar with this mod, so I will be cautious about pointing a figure at it though problems appear to have started when you installed.  You may want to make sure you uninstalled the mod completely.  Another possibility is the mod overwrote something (hopefully not; most folks who mod no better than this or at least give warning.)   If the mod creator didn't include uninstall instructions you may want to message him/her to information.

I find that if my DLCs are authenticated I have no problems playing offline and DA will never ask me to force load for as long as I remain offline, but as soon as I reconnect it will complain if I'm not logged into my EA account; so your options would either to log in, authenticate the DLCs, then disconnect from the 'net whenever you want to play DA or keep the auto-login box checked and ignore it.

Friends who bought the game off Steam say this doesn't work for them, mind you.

Thank you Pandaman102.  I checked and the Authentication code was gone, so I've redone it and everything is back to normal.

You just log in to your EA account, go into the "Downloadable Content" menu, and check the "Installed Content" tab - as it authenticates the status of each DLC will go from being highlighted in red with an "Unauthorized" message in it to being unhighlighted (or highlighted in green if you've never looked at it); after that don't sign out of the EA account, just make sure whenever you fire up Dragon Age you're not connected to the internet.

Discovered this behavor out of necessity, had to stay at a YMCA for a couple months and their filters made it impossible to log in (or really do anything beyond check email), and was able to repeat the process several times to confirm it wasn't a fluke.

Edit: Whoops, sorrry, I started this reply before you edited yours and had to wander off to do something else!

 sorry I did wonder if I might be too late to edit my post.

The way I did it as per the instructions from the BW Community Director, was first I checked if the CD key was listed by looking in the DA config utility (used the Configure option when you first fire up the game) and it wasn't there.

I then used the install disc and the option to Explore, found the 'Dragon Age_code.exe file in the data folder, ran it and entered the cd key there and everything is OK.  I didn't even have to log on to anything, the game starts perfectly now.
