The first video game that I ever purchased was...Mass Effect. :blink:

I played a few games over the years, Pac-Man when I was a teen (though only a few times), Streets of Rage, Street Fighter, and whatever my young cousins and nephews had around. But I never owned a game system until a friend showed me Mass Effect. The character customization, dialogue wheel and the protaganist actually speaking in cutscenes had me hooked immediately. I never liked first-person POV in games, I like seeing the character.

Now in addition to my XBox 360 and two Mass Effect games, I have a PlayStation 3 with several games. The first game I bought for that platform was Resident Evil 5 (love the co-op combat, character design, and motion capture; voice acting is meh.) I know I could have purchased RE5 for XBox, but then I wouldn't have been able to play co-op with my friend who has a PS3, so I had to buy the new console (which I prefer to the XBox 360, actually). I only use my XBox 360 for Mass Effect, and I'm still on my first console (knock wood).


Ah, you should try Heavy Rain if you haven't. I'm just saying :innocent:

I have played Heavy Rain, but it doesn't have much replay value. It's a fun game though, very cinematic.

I'm impressed by the number of older gamers in this forum.



The only video games I was ever able to get my mom & dad to play were Duck Hunt back when I was a kid, and Wii Sports.



And assuming all the posts are true, it's nice to see that ME2 has such a nice amount of female gamers in it's community.



The only games I'm used to seeing lots of women play are Harvest Moon & Pokemon.

It's crazy when you think that most of the games for the zx spectrum were like 12kb in total....

My first console was the NES and I was a Nintendo fanboy for much of my life. It wasn't until after the fall of Sega that I realized the futility of fanboyism. While I still own nearly every Nintendo Console (with the exception of Virtual Boy, GB Pocket, the GB color that I gave to my sister, and the Gamecube that I sold when I got a Wii) I manage to maintain a variety of consoles, including a Dreamcast and PS2 (though I only got that to play Kingdom Hearts, which I've barely made a dent in). I wind up playing most of my games on the PC anyway.
