ME1 was a fairly lite game, but apparently it wasn't "actiony" enough for the masses (must be a lot of Michael Bay fans on these forums) considering the sweeping changes to convert ME2 into a TPS, and the support for the changes on this forum.

Everything about ME2, except combat and graphics, is worse than ME1.

ME1 music > ME2
ME1 story > ME2
ME1 gear > ME2
ME1 exploration > ME2
ME1 world > ME2
ME1 characters > ME2 (as a whole)
ME1 combat < ME2
ME1 graphics < ME2

There is no problem with liking TPS and easy games, it's all just opinion anyway, but I'm wondering if anyone regrets going emo about the elevators and Mako now that we are left with this shell of a game?

I wish I could like ME2, but I just feel like its missing so much in comparison, though primarly because the world is one long corridor strung together by loading screens :pinched:

I don't regret the elevators but I do wish they had more exploration that was better than the mako. I would like to drive around the moon again.

Music, story and world depend on your preference, same goes for the characters. Mass 1's inventory system and the gear itself didn't add that much to the game, and driving around on anóther damn planet gets boring after a while.

It just all comes down to your personal likes and tastes. There is no way to satisfy everyone, the best you can do is make a product that you feel will satisfy as many people as possible.

The Illusive Man's theme would like to have a word with you..

Or maybe the Suicide Missions theme?

Or how how Grunts?

What about Mordin's theme?

Aw hell, how about the entire freaking epic soundtrack from ME 2?

Seriously, the music in ME 2 was so much improved and longer quality tracks than in ME 1.

Sadly this appeal to majority has to come in the way of adding another game focused on TPS to the market. Fads and trends, a mature company is able to create stable and consistent products that don't depend on fads.

Absolutely, though I didn't bother arguing because it does come down to opinion - I just think most people on here have awful opinions.

Hence the "indictment of youth" in the title, their opinion is that Michael Bay'ified idiocy is cool.

Hey, you liked it better, what can I say....

I listened to the ME1 soundtrack over 100 times on my iphone, I have the ME2 soundtrack and listened to it twice: once because I was excited, and a second time to try and convince myself it didn't suck in comparison ...

I never complained about the elevator rides, and don't mind the new load screens. However, I wish they'd remove the "mission" system. Every time you step off the Normandy it's a mission, the Normandy departs every time you get on the ship, and the mission completion screens all kill the immersion.

The main thing that irked me in ME2 was how missions were sectioned off from the rest of the world. For example areas like the start of Samara’s recruitment mission, Grunt’s loyalty mission, and Thane’s loyalty mission are areas that we should have been able to explore both before and after the missions.

"Hey you have an opinion, let me disregard that.  Now here's my opnion, it's more important than yours because it's mine."

I think this thread is an indictment of you insofar as you're a self-righteous ass.

Yes!!!

Very frustrating, it made it feel like a corridor shooter to me.

Not to mention the extremely obvious "half wall" rooms that were obvious setups for waves of idiot AI that could be beaten by "cover".... OK, I think I hate TPS games lol, PC games can be more dynamic than that.  I understand it on the consoles, because of their awful control schemes, but on a PC it just feels dumb.

What Web2nr said ^ because my quote button ain't working.

Instead of feeling open and sprawling like ME1, ME2 felt like a segmented, compartmentalised shooter.

Hence my statement "what can I say" since its all opinion.

My opinion: your musical and game taste sucks (that or you are stuck on a console, in which case ME2 is a crowning achievement)

Its a Sequel, its gonna be epic and non-epic. Music wise I loved both ME1 and ME2, they both retained the epicness...Though ME 2 could of been even more epic...but lets save some of that dash-of-more-epic for ME 3 shall we :)?

That pretty much is the case of ME2, mostly put epic in a holding pattern until ME3.

ME2 music certainly wasn't bad, I don't want to give that impression, it just didn't retain the pure epic of ME1.

I actually do have faith in Bioware that ME3 will be much better, and I plan on starting threads about the failings of ME2 for the near future hoping for the same way the "elevator and mako" threads changed ME2.

I dont think its the mako that was the problem it was the damn landscape we all had to navigate. I hate climbing up mountains, some planets were fun to drive around, planets that were flat!

I mean to each their own, I def loved ME 1's music, but ME 2 felt more alive. It just seemed like Jack Wall and the bunch felt a whole lot more comfortable doing the music, and expanded greatly on it. Now we get tons of 5-8 minute tracks thats more addicting. I mean TIM's theme for example, very moving. Same for Suicide Mission for example, it just puts you in "the moment", and makes you feel more epic.

I think the endind themes in ME 1 were the most addicting, like Shep emerging from the wreckage, never gets old, but the actual end song wasn't even done by Jack Wall. And vigils and Ilos's theme were damn epic and had soul no doubt. But ME 2 just had to much low-key atmospheric music IMO, it felt more raw 70's early 80s scfi, yea, but ME 2 just feels more epic and "out there".

Can you actually give a reason for the 'gear' being better? I'm sure you can blindly play ME2 by using whatever you picked up last. But you can blindly play ME1 by using whatever has the most yellow bars.
