That's just YOUR opinion of the games

IMO:

ME1 story > ME2

ME2 gear >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>ME1 gear (there was only 3 different models for armors, the other were just reskins with a bunch of roman numerals to give you an illiusion that they are different)

ME1 had exploration ?

The only thing ME had better then ME2 was the story. Nice try at being a troll.

I thought ME2 was decent but didnt beat everything we had back in ME. It was more intense in  feeling and felt like getting chewed gum dropped on the floor.

ME2 destroys ME1. Both are great, but seriously, just go back and play the first one, it's nowhere near as good as ME2 in almost all areas.

I don't understand how people can complain about a ME2. It's one of the most fulfilling gaming experiences I've had in years. That people expected more from it boggles my mind.

Oh, and the music in ME2 is WAY better. I listened to my own music for all my replays of ME1, I just couldn't take the soundtrack for 90% of the areas.

It feels to me that ME2 lost the Early '80s Sci Fi feel, in both styling and in music, and instead went with flashy shiny neon lighting everywhere.

Well the Citadel back in ME1 had more exploring to do but nor enough things for such a big place. The Citadel in ME2 was all stairs. And there were some characters better in ME1 than ME2.
Like Liara>>>>>>>>> ME2's Liara
Garrus ME1>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Garrus ME2
Wrex>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Grunt

And Shepard's options were more humane. I liked being full xenophob. But the Renegade scars were nice! I just wish they wouldnt dissapear so fast! I found it so hard being full Renegade. I lost the cool scars in the third act...:(

I am playing ME1, in fact I put down ME2 after my last completion. I have no plans on importing my current run of ME1 into ME2, I am playing it because it is more fun for me.

Bolded the part that is stopping you from understanding.

Well that is your opinion of ME1s music along with a stellar internet percentage. Playing the game Omegas music stands out for me but the rest didn't have a greater effect on me.

I agree about Liara and Garrus, but Liara wasn't a squad mate in ME2 so she doesn't count
But I disagree about Wrex and Grunt. Wrex was just a bland boring rip-off of Canderous Ordo. Grunt's funny

ME1 was a fairly lite game, but apparently it wasn't "actiony" enough for the masses (must be a lot of Michael Bay fans on these forums) considering the sweeping changes to convert ME2 into a TPS, and the support for the changes on this forum.

Everything about ME2, except combat and graphics, is worse than ME1.

ME1 music > ME2
ME1 story > ME2
ME1 gear > ME2
ME1 exploration > ME2
ME1 world > ME2
ME1 characters > ME2 (as a whole)
ME1 combat < ME2
ME1 graphics < ME2

There is no problem with liking TPS and easy games, it's all just opinion anyway, but I'm wondering if anyone regrets going emo about the elevators and Mako now that we are left with this shell of a game?

I wish I could like ME2, but I just feel like its missing so much in comparison, though primarly because the world is one long corridor strung together by loading screens :pinched:

I agree with exploration. There was 0 exploration in ME2, all you could do is walk around ONE part of a giant world unless you were doing a mission. The music, that is a matter of opinion. The main story was too short in the first one but the way bonus missions were implemented was awesome. ME2 has a fraction of side missions and the main story was "recruit this person, recruit another, fight the collectors, gain loyalty, recruit more people, suicide mission." The inventory system change has its strengths and weaknesses. It is a lot cleaner but there is also a lot less items. I have to disagree with the characters. The characters in ME1 were pretty bland in my opinion. And its obvious the combat system and graphics have had the best upgrades. Except for the thermal clips and universal cooldown.

Is your opinion about the music based soley on associating it with what you feel is a "lesser" Mass Effect experience? Both were written by the same composer, and I find based on a musical observation alone, they are quite moving to listen to in tandem.

I miss the elevator conversations, but don't really miss the long rides, if you know what I mean. It would be great if your team would converse amongst each other more randomly in a non-combat area, give the characters a bit more depth outside of regular conversations.

As far as the Mako goes, I do kind of miss it as well, but I think the Hammerhead could fill the role if coupled with the exploration from ME1. Also fixes the control issues a lot of people seem to have since it's a simplified mako.

The corridor effect and the walls for cover definately were an immersian breaker, but I still really enjoy ME2.

Exploration in ME1? You mean those mountain filled bland maps and cookie cutter side mission levels?

That's not to say I wouldn't mind planet exploration in ME3, but it would have to be be greatly improved over the exploration in ME1, because as it stands I preferred the side missions in ME2, even as short as they are.

Side quests and exploration are two different issues. There is no exploring in  ME2 to prefer over ME1. If it from watching Star Trek, Star Wars, or NASA vids, I found the exploration of ME1 to be intriquing in those regards.
I don't need the constant thrall of being shot at to enjoy an experience.

Oh, I agree with you there. the ME2 side missions were far more substantial than the cookie-cutter ME side missions.

For ME3 I'd like to at least have the option to explore a planet's surface. I'd even prefer picking up resources on the surface (if the resource system returns) rather than planet scanning. Maybe a substantial N7 mission even as long as we can get the feeling of a more open, explorable universe.

I concur. I actually read all the planetary descriptions and, yes, a few times I ooh'd and ahh'd as the MAKO plummeted to the surface.

If ME2 is an "indictment" of the youth then the youth obviously have unbelievably great taste.

Thank you, "youth", for making ME2 better than ME1 in practically ever. single. area.

sorry, but I disagree with this, first of all ME was an rpg-shooter, so bioware didn't do the Michael Bay's way, they just tried to improve the gameplay, and yes, they killed a part of the rpg elements, but I understand it because bioware doesn't have experience making shooters, and if there is something more difficult than a shooter is a rpg-shooter.

Jesus, another one of these threads. Surely to god there are enough similar threads about already to tell the world why you think ME1 is better than ME2. This forum gets worse by the day.
