But then, every single game ever created is better than WOW.
And MMOs suck, let´s nt ruin DA with this plague upon gaming.

So not really looking foreward to another MMO.
But I do miss Neverwinter Nights style Multiplayer. Where you can make any type of module for many forms of interest. That way, certain interest that would probably never see a commercial game can have a platform, hosted by fans for fans.
That's the only thing I miss in Dragon Age. Not all RPG Multiplayer should be MMO's only.

I would not touch a Dragon Age MMO (even with a very long stick). And the reason for that is this.
Heh heh heh .... and we were just discussing accountability for the software industry.
I'm sure they refunded all the bank overcharges ... however I wonder the same question that one person on that thread asked: did they also refund all the overdraft fees their little attempt to suck players dry, may have caused?
This monthly fee aspect of MMOs really bugs me. You have to pay that fee whether you're playing or not. And WoW claims you can stop playing for, say, 6 months (and stop paying the fee), then come back, start paying again, and your characters will still be there on the server, but I have my doubts. They don't let you have a local copy of your chars to back up, so you have to take their word for it. I don't know how it works with the others.
It's a bit like the electric company making you pay an electric bill, even if you use no electricity. Oh I know, the phone company charges you something per month, even if you make no phone calls. And we won't even get into the issue of cell phone billing.

I have played a couple of MMOs (still do) but a screw-up of this size is really unique. And that of course does not bode well for the Bioware Star Wars MMO. We have a company (Bioware) that is quite slow with bugfixing and playtesting (still waiting for 1.04 btw) combined with a company like EA that I would be reluctant to share credit card information with (after this incident). Even the people with inactive accounts were hit by this "accident".

My guess is that if it happens, it's at least 5 years from now. Bioware will keep pumping out content for Dragon Age, and will create a universe that will eventually become a pay to play MMO. It will be a different experience from what we know of WoW currently.
I think this is probably what will happen, and that they have their eyes on this prize. Not sure I will love it, but I'll gladly pay 5 years from now. Bioware makes a product that is unparalleled. No other way to put it. I'm happy to have a disposable income, and I'm happy that Bioware keeps doing good work.

MMO lack depth in story and character development seriously and most like end up with a level grind fest and item camping.

Sadly stuff like that happens . . . They all were refunded everything and gave the ones who were over charged stuff and everyone got lots of extra experience for playing. (My hubby plays this so I know)
I do hate having to pay for an MMO (which is generally why I only play one ya pay for for a few months.) But most actually do let you go back and the characters still be there.
Though most agree DA would be bad as a MMO, why do most of you all hate MMOs?

Personally I would think they would incorporate other aspects of the game, dealing with the Tvinter, the various dealings of the nations (Picture how many different storylines/quests could be found in Antiva alone).
Not to mention fully fleshed out origins such Dalish starting Origins, Antivia ones, Orlias, or even a Tvinter one. There are so many places in the game were stories may be told

You can leave and come back to WoW any time. As active duty military, training and deployments have pulled me away several times, and I've never had any trouble cancelling and later renewing my account. I'm sure any decent MMO is the same: it's in their best interest to make it easy for players who have left to come back. I know people who stopped playing WoW but came back over a year later to check out the expansion. Storage is just so cheap there's no reason for them to delete your characters.
On a related note, though getting hacked can be painful, they tend to have pretty good support for that, too. I know a few people who got hacked and lost all their gear and gold, but were able to get it all back within a couple business days. Some of them even got extra consumable items and gold.
I don't know how many people actually paid any attention to that thread beyond the first two posts, but did you notice that a Mythic representative responded to that thread within 40 minutes, at 11:30 PM? And again, the same night, and the next morning at 9 AM? In fact, 12 hours after the OP in that thread...
Folks
I understand and can empathize with the hardship that this situation must be placing on some people. We do sincerely apologize for this situation and understand those that are upset and angered. We are working as quickly as we can to address this issue and, as was stated in my Herald post, those overcharged should start to see said charges reversed as of today during normal business hours. We ask those affected by overdraft fees to please follow the instructions provided in the post.
We are working to ensure that this never happens again. I assure you that we have leveraged all possible resources to addressing this issue and delivering a satisfactory resolution as quickly as possible. This issue is our number one priority.
We will continue to keep the community updated regarding this issue and any resolution.
Now, more than ever, thank you for your patience and your continued support.
I'm sure there's more that I'm not seeing, but it looks like people were overcharged one day and they took steps to fix it the next day. Were they justified in their outrage? Yes. Did Mythic lose business over it? I'm sure they did, and it looks like they were going to cover the overdraft fees, which could have been a lot of money depending on how many people were affected. But, can you fairly use this as evidence that the gaming industry has bad service or is stealing money? I don't think so. I don't think you can reasonably expect any business to respond to that sort of error in a more timely fashion.
Also, it's not like game developers are the only people to ever have billing errors. Isn't it kind of ridiculous to imply that Mythic was stealing money on purpose? Am I supposed to believe that they expected people to just not notice $500+ fees? A lot of people live paycheck to paycheck and would notice that right away. I think the most likely conclusion here is that they made a colossal error and probably lost a lot of money from it.
How does this relate to Bioware?

Dragonage , no matter how bug infested it is atm ...is a real gem , hell there were only 3 games i ever gave a 2nd or 3rd playthrough and DAO is one of em. Its too good to morph it into something
like an MMO title and risk a total failure ...so a BIG NO from me too

Well, given how quickly Mythic responded to their error compared to how quickly Bioware has responded to bugs in their game, I'm not sure that's a bad thing. Plus, Mythic actually has experience balancing games for multiplayer, something Bioware lacks. My expectations for TOR have just risen. Though, I have to say I haven't been impressed with the billing system for DLC for DA,and apparently Mythic has had bad experiences with their own vendors, so we'll see
