I know i know, perfect spot right?

Well I just started playing the game for the first time.

De'Arnise (sp?) Keep.. I only got 2 pieces of meat from the dogs.. and there are no more.. Help?

And.. I cleared all the floors out.. Now Im on the 2nd floor (where you fight the mage dude and the troll that explodes into 2 small trolls)  Now there are 3 doors on this floor I can't open, can't pick their locks either.

I am essentially stuck.. I have no idea where to go/what to do?

If I recall...

-did you kill all the dogs?

-there's a key in the room with the yuan-ti mage and the bifurcated troll.

how is gamefaqs not helpful? It is easily the best source of walkthroughs on the internet

Because the 3 walkthroughs listed for baldurs gate 2 dont even mention the key.(one doesn't even mention the keep at all)

Weird... again if I recall correctly there should be 4 dogs, 4 slabs of meat and a resulting single pot of stew. Sometimes the dogs are hidden behind the excellent castle rampart graphics. Regardless, they're not needed for finishing the keep (but may make it easier and provide an xp boost).

I have no memory of that keep save the ending talk with the npcs..and really really wanting to hit them more times then I can count..

The only thing of the keep i remember is the weapon you got to assemble there, i never bother with the dog stew.

For a low-spoiler solution, I'd suggest using a combination of an old site I used back when I was first playing this game, www.angelfire.com/hero/tjekanefir/amn.htm, and www.uhs-hints.com/uhsweb/bg2.php for puzzle hints and solutions.

Regarding your specific situation at the keep, this should at least help some: www.uhs-hints.com/uhsweb/hints/bg2/402.php

BTW, you don't actually need to make the stew to complete the keep.
Good luck, this thread brought back fond memories... :wizard:

I usually don't do the dog-stew thing, but have you tried just holding tab down (I think it's tab for Baldur's Gate, not alt, but whichever one - I always get them mixed up) and looking anywhere on the set you might possibly have killed the dogs? Loot piles are pretty hard to find sometimes, especially if they blend into the terrain.

Or if you saved just before you did that, I guess you could reload and make sure that you pick up the meat after each dog you killed. Might be a bit annoying, though.

Have you tried my usual 'direct' approach - let them waste their time on summons then come in with a buffed up group (Bless/Stoneskins/Barkskins, everything you've got!) and take em out 1 by 1?

A level 5 Mage Spell that'll kill creatures of a certain DR or otherwise deal damage.

If you can't memorize level 5 spells yet, you might want to try just buying a scroll and using it on them.

You're not the same Srikandi that created the alchemy modules for Morrowind are you?  Sorry but the name leaps out (its from the Indian Mahabharat) and the only time I ever saw it was there. Just thought it would be exciting if it was the same person modding for DA soon ;)
