Hi everyone, I've been posting my progress blog around and just thought I'd drop in!

If anyone would like to see the progress on my Grunt costume and N7 armor, it's over at my blog!

www.sorceryandglue.blogspot.com

His face looks happy because his head is going to be a foam latex face with an animatronic inside and fiberglass shell. So, all of his features need to remain neutral so that when he's cast as a skin they can move like...skin...hahaha. Awww, happy!grunt.

Here's a quick few little pics of the final sculpt before I molded it:

HMWSGX !!! Yes, eventually. First I need to make a core of the mold (boooo) and then cast it in foam latex. Which sucks, because I have to go to LA to get it, it's like an hour away. So that won't happen for another week or so. Then my friend from work is actually going to teach me how to do the animating (I'm more of a sculptor, costume person). That'll probably be done....mid-may-ish, is my hope. Then there will be videos!!! I'm hoping to get some armor making videos out too, eventually.

But anyway, we're all fighting the good costume fight, you know how it is. lol

And good to see you too tatterhood!! I saw your costume as well, it was awesome! (Dr. Chakwas voice)

Right now I'm focusing on the bodysuit and the shep armor though...I'm running out of time, but that's usual. lol

Wooo! :D That'll be so exciting--I'm not sure how animating works (except for Jim Henson puppetry!) so I keep pondering at how the person wearing it will make the mouth and eyes move at the same time.

You'll get it done, I'm sure :D

It's the same thing! Except we're cheap and using plastic instead of metal pieces. I'll post pics of the internal stuff as well, but it's all the same concept. The controls though are another issues entirely...I'm still trying to figure that out....lol

and yeah, I hope so blarrgh. ;D we need to start a "you'll get it done" costume support group. hahaha

Your sculpting work is amazing. I only do small scale models, and those are difficult enough! Can't wait to see the finished result.

Edit:  Oh! I see you were involved in Beltane Fire Festival!  I was in it 2008.  Just going as a spectator this year.  Can't wait!
