it's because of all the voice overs they would have to do in da. mass effect was just female voice and male voice, so whichever you chose you got that voice. having a voiced pc in da would have meant that multiple voices would have to be recorded for the entire game's worth of dialog. that's costly and space consuming.Monkeypasta wrote...
I wonder why he is silent in DA1. Sheppard had a voice from the very beginning and 1st Mass Effect was release like 2 years ago.I don't see the silent hero returning for DA2. It's not an origins game, which cuts down on character possibilities, The hero being silent was a prominent complaint by most major reviewers, and EA will probably want them to cater to 'the masses' and duplicate Mass Effect's success and popularity.[which DAO fell short of.]

And under "discussion" you mean "you must agree with me right now or die!", right?Patriciachr34 wrote...
So you don't want a discussion then. Enjoy your day.

I understand that, no much brains needed. But this doesn't make me like it.bzombo wrote...

I also do understant that jumping is not necessaryt, but I still feel uncomfortable when my hero stops before small log not being able to do a thing.

please, stop while you're ahead. do you know how much space that would take? apparently not.Monkeypasta wrote...
It would absolutely be enough to have human, elven and dwarven voices for both genders. No need to differ dalish from something else and stuff. So it's 6 versions. Considering that human and dwarven voices are pretty similar, they could just use pitching or any kind of voice coding. So it drops to 4 only - human/elven and dwarven for 2 genders. And it would be MUCH better than today's mute hobo.Patriciachr34 wrote...
Yes, but ME has only 1 pc. You get a human commander. You can change their skill set and gender, but you cannot change their race. This is why I did not initially purchase ME. Try getting voice actors, male and female, for humans, dwarves, city elves, and dalish elves, and mages of various races. This would have added significant cost and delays in release. IT would also significantly increase the size of the game. How many GB's do you have on your hard drive?

maybe rpg is not your genre. maybe a nice fps is better for you.Monkeypasta wrote...

most party based rpgs don't have jumping. it's more of a single player rpg a la oblivion where you get jumping and that kind of stuff. you are doing the pathfinding as opposed to the game.Monkeypasta wrote...

Even extra DVD would be OK. It's not a big deal today - many JRPGs come on 2 DVDs and have A LOT of dialogues and videos. So space is not an excuse.bzombo wrote...

I LOVE RPGs, but I don't like reading tons of texts. And trust me, so do most people - so called "masses".bzombo wrote...

Anyway, text with voice is much, much user fiendly.

And I'm not talking about base jumping or hopping - just a simle jump-over-the-log would be nice. This is rediculous when you have to do "pathfinding" between two branches of wood and a hand-size stone.bzombo wrote...
