Hello all and thanks for reading:

I've created a small level just to get myself familar with the tooset. Things are going ok, but I have this nagging problem with the lighting situation in area view (no level construction view). First I make an exportable area, and drag it to encumpass the entire area for testing. I play with the knobs and stuff and get the lighting looking the way I want it to. It looks fine in the level view.

However, when i import the level into an area....everything is black! It looks like somone took black paint and poured it across the terian. Whats wierder is that 1 chunk of the area in the upper right is lit properly! I don't get it. I've tried resizing my exportable area many times and it just doesn't work. Should I use 3-4 smaller exportable areas or something?

edit: Oh and to make it clear: I did build lightmaps before saving the level and importing it into an area.

Do you have a light in each room? Do you have any ambient lighting? The wiki recommends 1 ambient light per level, as well as at least 1 point light per room.

I put 1 ambient(baked) light in and it seems to do nothing. This is an outside level, not indoors.

Ya creating lightmaps doesn't seem to be working very well. I've managed to get it to the point where it's not total blackness and there's a general ambient light in the area. However, I still can't get water to show up no matter what I try. I've posted at least 3 threads about this in both the forums but have no responses to any. I don't think anyone has a solution, either that or everyone is busy trying to take Morrigan's clothes off. Now that's frustrating, sitting in a toolset forum waiting for a response on a pretty fundamental issue of mod making and all that's going on are people screwing up their main game by merely opening the toolset and trying to make a virtual barbie doll naked. I hate the internet some days.

In any case, are you receiving any errors when u try and render the lightmaps? I had to solve that before I could get the ambient light to work.
