These of some of the solutions to the negative effects the toolset has on the game, they seem to work for 99% of issues, so please try these before deleting everything.
1) Load toolset, goto tool > export > Empty Export Directories
2)
FIND:
X:\\\\Documents and Settings\\\\<user>\\\\My Documents\\\\BioWare\\\\Dragon Age\\\\modules
Delete anything called single player
3)
FIND
<DA:O Install Dir>\\\\dragon age origins\\\\modules\\\\single player\\\\override
Delete anything in this folder
4)
FIND:
<DA:O Install Dir>\\\\dragon age origins\\\\packages\\\\core\\\\override
Delete anything in this folder
This
should clear up any issues you have, re-installing the game will have
pretty much zero effect on the problem and will just waste your time.
P.S It would be nice if a mod stickied this, or perhaps made there own one

Just a reminder if you play the game and save your game without performing these fixes you corrupt your save. Just be wary.

Actually thats not true. i have heard it "Can" corrupt the game, however the majority of overrides will not corrupt it.

Worked for me, thank you very much.

If anyone has tried all these and still has a problem, let me know and ill see what else i can dig up and add to the first post, i know of two other solutions, but so far they have only been needed for one person.

I've done all of these things and am still having issues. What other solutions do you know of?
#8
Posté 09 novembre 2009 - 07:26
What issues are you still having, the other solutions include editing the db directly (and so is quite some work, and should rarely need doing)

I posted some more detailed information on the party-related bugs in the last thread, including information on how to fix a corrupt save if you don't have a recent non-broken one:
http://social.biowar...114380/2#126440
http://social.biowar...114380/2#127388
http://social.biowar...114380/2#128953
The idea seems to be floating around that the problems are just caused by opening or modifying the single player module in the toolset -- this is not the case. For example, just creating a script in an empty module which #includes "utility_h" will cause the exporter to pull in plot resources which will break your game. Considering scripts like area_core include this file, you are pretty much guaranteed to run into problems.

My only savegame pre-tradesmeet is 10 hours back, and tradesmeet is bugged like ****ing hell thanks to the toolset. I've emptied the export folder, removed the toolset and then cleared the override folders. Still ****ed. Thanks a ****ing bunch bioware.

I stand corrected on the corrupted save files, so far the only case ive seen that is true was a pretty rare one, but your saying that reverting to an old save did infact solve your problem?

I had the corrupted save problem and ended up uninstalling everything, re-installing the game and playing from an earlier save. Eizneckam has some great info as he has noted above, which might help others to avoid having to do that.

So my game is still messed up, sigh. I did everything you said to do and I still get the Unable to load module notice... You would think BioWare wouldn't have put out the toolset if they knew this stuff could happen o well. Any other advice on the subject?

Does the toolset automatically put stuff in the override folders?

You certainly are entilted to a beef about save game corruptions but how anyone can only have saves 10 hours apart is totally beyond me.

It's quite possible if you use quicksaves and there aren't any autosaves in between, because quicksaves seem to overwrite each other.
(I personally use quicksaves mid-quest and regular saves in camp, so I don't break up the action much.)

I understand the issues with the overide, but I am wondering if there is a way to have the toolset use a different folder for the overides so I dont have to keep deleting the folders to get the game working again. Anybody know?

So after giving up last night and then waking up this morning I a new step that works. What it involves is taking the "singleplay.cif" file from your install directory(in the program files on your c drive), then copy and paste it over the "SinglePlayer.cif" file in Documents and Settings\\\\My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\modules\\Single Player. this worked for me and I hope it helps others.

I still got a problem.
I fixed it once but now
wen i look for the: ....//modules//singleplayer,,, Its not there!
....//dragon age origins//modules//single player//override,, is empty
...//dragon age origins//packages//core//override.. is empty too!
And if i start my save game,, and im in the camp.. all my partymembers are gone.
I want to select them again and then they disapeir again.

The OP forgot to say
MyDocuments/Bioware/DragonAge/packages/core/override
should be empty
The install dir should have nothing in those paths unless you have installed a mod there
