It was incredibly out of line of you to ask someone to identify themselves as a rape victim in order for you to take it down. Do you not get that?

Edit: MANY people tried to get you to see how hurtful the thread was without going to that extreme.  Rape is a horrible crime, and you are very lucky if it hasn't touched your life to the extent where it has touched many people's.  Portraying men as rapists is insulting to them as this is not the type of situation you're equating it to.  This whole thing was insulting to men and hurtful to sexual assault victims.  It should not take you requesting someone to tell you they were a victim to get you to take it down.

Since this thread is just a huge ball of sunshine.  I'd like to direct you all to the  Dragon Age Happy Survivor thread, where cannibalism will be replaced with butterflies and rape with bunnies. :D

I think it might be best if we simple move on now, as this will go no where. Yes it was incredibly offensive to take it down only after asking people to identify themselves as victims. But it's taken down now. So let's try to forget about this ugly episode.

I forced no one. They choose to, and when they did I removed it. End of line.

Do not speak so high and mighty to me. You only care that your precious Zevran was involved in it.

I did that for a specific purpose, for ignorant fools to realize that even in games your actions do matter, that choosing to play judge, jury and executioner can lead to not so pleasant results. I see so many people who laugh at killing Loghain, who wish they could kill Anora, of course it also goes for Morrigan, Alistair etc. And I ask myself: Do these people even realize what they are saying?

And no I don't do it because Loghain is my favorite character, I do because I am VERY disturbed at how easily people can scream for death.

I apologize again for anyone who had seen that and been involved in something similar, but for the rest of you....

Your point was entirely missed; therefore, the way you tried to make it was completely off.

And the word I used was "asked," not "forced." And I stand by what I said.

If you want to educate people, then disguising it in a game thread, with a poll, is not the best way to "enlighten us ignorant fools".

Perhaps Knight, but we both know how educated threads ended, now don't we? Loghain defense threads for example...

Loghain threads have provided actual intellectual discussions that I have enjoyed participating in.
Your thread offers none of that, sorry.

Very well. I admit I was being dumb there. If anyone has any ideas for the story, by all means list them ( in PM ).

Rape is a horrible crime, and you are very lucky if it hasn't touched your life to the extent where it has touched many people's.

Don't presume to think that just because I posted that, rape hasn't touched my life.

Oh bull****.  If you were so concerned about man's inhumanity to man, you wouldn't post this asinine thread making light of animal and human suffering.  Come off it, hypocrite.

Why not? People usually realize the bad things of life when they are slammed in the face with them and not before.

What kind of an idiot are you?  You're not writing some kind of contemporary take on Lord of the Flies.  If you want people to realize how evil humans can be to each other, hand them that book, or 1984, or any of the other works of literature that actually treat the topic seriously.  Your thread was not started with that kind of intent at all, though you might try your best to whitewash it now.  If you intend anything, it's for people to revel in it.

I did not start this thread with that intention, but as I was writing the first death I considered something.

You think a book can describe suffering, now can you? Tell me, how do you describe watching young children day by day begging for food, with ragged clothes? How do you go to the Graveyard where your Grand Mother is buried and at the entrance you see children and elderly who have no place to live and sleep in the tombs there to keep warm? How do you do that daily/weekly/monthly and then just come to a point where you ignore it?

You think you can describe suffering with a book? I don't think so, something I only realized after today.

Great, then give up on your lame attempt at . . . whatever you're attempting.  Clearly you don't need to remind people that sadism is wrong, since everyone in the last several pages of your thread has been saying HELLO ******, SADISM IS WRONG.  Since we're obviously more morally enlightened than you, you can pack up and shove off.  And next time you feel like you need to do something about human suffering, try donating to the Red Cross or opening a microlending account at Kiva.

I repeat, no realism here--just shock value.

That. Only that. You want to make it realistic? I'm at least a little sorry to say but you're making it an absolute joke.

Let's start with the dog: You take a scene out of a movie where the dog during that scene had turned on its master and wanted to kill him. Absolutely no need to strangle a sleeping dog. Oh, and to strangle a mabari your warden must have bigger hands than a qunari.

Wynne: I can relate to not liking wynne but... ah, yes, roasting someone alive, letting all the interior organs and the waste that a body produces inside... yeah, totally see people who want to eat her doing that:whistle: who does not enjoy deliciously roasted feces...

velanna...

However, as I have pointed out, rape
has been used as a form of payment throughout hundreds of years of war
as some form of payment. Not necessary, I concur ( especially not my
scenario )

See, you even admit it. Right there. Completely out of place. You are portraying people who fought side by side raping their companion.

I really really do not think highly of zevran but he'd never do something like that. He kills, yes, enjoys it, yes, but he will always try to deliver a clean kill, no torture, no games. That much is said ingame and you ignore it for your purposes.

You present Oghren's killing someone for an insult as a reason for him to turn rapist? seriously? A dwarven warrior is raised to defend his honor till blood, not death but blood. he went too far in a drunken rage, yes, but he did it in a proving, he did not kill the guy right there on the street. I can imagine him going beserk when it's his turn. I can imagine him trying to die somewhere, where the other won't find him so he returns to the stone and isnt eaten. but rape? no.

looking forward to more realism...
___

oh, and justice... isnt eating carrion somewhat poisonous for humans and therefor counterproductive for the whole stay alive thing?

Kerendar: It's been done already.

However, about justice....well he is still somewhat alive, and there is a blood mage out there with a lot of magical energy ready to spent on something.

There are plenty of people around here who are entirely clear on just how grim life can be.  Those who don't get it are not going to be educated by reading horribly violent and pointless ficlets in this poll.

You want to make a point? Say what you said above in a real discussion thread.

A real discussion isn't going to help the world. Civilized people have always talked, and for naught. For the masses choose to ignore most of the time, while politicians don't care.

Yeah, I just realized that. started writing before it was done and was distracted. too slow...

and justice is animated, not alive. he keeps decaying even if he's walking.

Yeah, but the spirit I think is somewhat slowing the body's decay. At the epilogue it is said after all that he stayed with the Wardens for many years until his body truly decayed.

Yes. But there is a difference between meat sticking to a skeleton and meat being edible. You could still kill him and use his body as bait for some big sea creature that does not mind this, to keep him on the list.

As I said some time ago. I can find ways for anyone to provide food, even Shale.
