Or more likely there are some NPC that would romance both male and female PC. I think Zevran might very well be one of those.
EDIT: That to say, you can't use arithmetic to deduce how many of them might be same sex romances.

Personally I think/hope for Zevran and Leliana to be the same sex romances, they seem more interesting and crazy than the other characters. Of the others probably only Morrigan and Alistair will be romancable, and they feel a bit too stereotypical, from the videos.

Naw, I liked Jaheira the best too. Aerie was too much of a girly-girl and Viconia was... too difficult, I guess, I never managed to pull it off.DalishRanger wrote...
I personally loved the BG2 romances (Jaheira's especially, but I'm probably in the minority for that...), but they were pretty limited in some ways. Still, not bad for their day. If DA:O can manage some more layers to a romance, and not limit it to a camp only (like ME, as others have said), I'll be a very happy fan.
Then there was Anomen. He got on my nerves quickly.
Anyway, I also hope they have made at least some progress in the love department and it's won't be ME all over again. That system was just way too rigid. Once you are even a little nice to one, you are on on the fast track. TOO EASY!

I grew to hate having to pick up Jaheira's pieces again and again and again... and again. I so wished she'd get back to her bossy self (which was attractive) but it always felt like she was made of glass forever now. Its a bit more realistic and touching that way, but not my cup of tea in a fantasy romance. This was worsened by the 'idle' sound files in BG2, which would fire randomly regardless of your romance level with an NPC, so Jaheira would always seem to relapse into morose contemplation.
I found Aerie's most interesting path was when you had Haer'Dalis in your party. As a male bhaalspawn, he competed with you and ultimately won Aerie's affections unless you kicked him out of the party or where a domineering ass.
Of all the BG2 romances I actually preferred Viconia's. Probably because I was using a mod to significantly reduce the real world delay time between romance interjections. I loved that she took what she wanted and didn't compromise herself in the earlier stages. It was nice to see your 'relationship' having some effect on her but I was well upset with how much when she practically changed into Aerie with dark skin towards the end.
I hate it when romance is used as 'kryptonite for women'. I worry this is what will happen with the Morrigan romance.
At least it wasn't so bad for the guys as it was for the ladies... Anomen... my god I'm truly sorry for anyone who tried to romance Anomen in BG2.
The use of mission/quest based triggers for romance isn't such a bad idea to my mind, it works as a measure for telling how far in the game a player has gone and isn't as arbitrary as the BG2 method of real world time passing, which often meant people didn't ever finish the romance quests or npc partners would suddenly demand you talk about how much you love them with a horde of drow bearing down on your position.
The Mass Effect romances where really non events for me, for the same reasons mentioned by others. They really did seem like conveniently packaged tinned goods you got out of the cupboard between missions. I really hope Dragon Age will make the romance quests seem less isolated from the day to day plot.

I hope Alistair doesn't have baggage... Carth's was minimal, and quite logical considering the circumstances
Kaiden had it, but thank god had dealt with it and moved on. Male or female, Shepard cant' be hampered like that
So that leaves Alistair in my run through of bioware game boys..... looks decent enough, capable in a fight
Plus he's a fellow Warden so he at leasts understands what the PC's going through

I have to admit, compared to the depth of the romances in BG2, I found the romance option in Jade Empire and specially in Mass Effect a little bit disappointing. BG2 was a real challenge in that matter, for instance turning Viconia from a bitter, cynical woman into a compassionate, almost warm-hearted one. I hope with DA:O Bioware returns back to roots.

I just hope any romance option has a good humor vein. If they can dish out some snark they best be able to take it. Most of my characters are rather...snark-infested.

I'm sure the romancees will work just fine.

Romance implementation has never felt tangible in the games I'd played. There's always inadequete interactions, but I do dread going overboard to some Sims style of coutship interaction.

Linarc, thanks for that quote.
That's exactly what I was looking and hoping for. Neutral, not necessarily positive comments that don't necessarily advance the romance but that don't kill it either.
I hope you have the ability to make negative comments but then resume the romance at a later time.

i'm glad the romances are obvious and not obscure.. some games get you running in circles before allowing you to romance the character of choice..
