Hey, so I went through some searches on Google, as well as read a bit on this forum, and I didn't find anything that was like this, so I thought I'd post.
After reading somewhere that lowering your resolution increases performance, I decided to change mine. I currently play DAO (no Awakening) on my 27" iMac (Windows XP SP2 Bootcamp installed), and the resolution was the highest it can go, 2560x1440 (16:9). I changed it to 1800x1440 (5:4), and realizing that I preferred how it looked on my screen to the performance boost, I switched it back to my original resolution. Upon returning, I found my quickbar to look like this:

( It may or may not be important, but after a restart today, I loaded up DAO and found Morrigan and Wynne to have turned black, as in the picture. However, after I closed down the game and opened it back up again, they returned to normal.)
Approximately the first ten boxes are simply gone from the Quickbar, plus, boxes I had filled that hadn't dissapeared entirely were simply emptied (For example, in the picture I have Morrigan selected, and she had lesser health poultices over on the right of the quickbar, which have now dissapeared.) Additionally, if I go to Talents/ Spells and try to drag something down onto the quick bar, it simply poofs away and does not go onto the quickbar. The quickbar looks the same for all of my characters that I click on. Also, the mouse doesn't acknowledge that there is a quickbar where it has dissapeared, for I can click there (like to tell someone to move).
What I have done is: switch my resolution about 4 times, just to see if it would reverse; restart my game about 3 times; restarted the computer twice.
I'm not quite sure what to do. I haven't had trouble with this game before. Any help would be appreciated.
Quickbar missing?

Is the quickbar correct when you load a save game you saved BEFORE you lowered the resolution?

I have the same problem with DAO: Origins. I switched from a small 15" 4:3 124*768 to a 27" 16:9 2560*1440 and I no longer have a quickbar or anything bound to keys, ie Pommel strike on 2.
It doesn't work with the latest patch, nor the one I had before... I am not certain on wich patch I had before installing the new one.
So it seems to have something to do with the resolution. But I don't wamt to lower it from 2560*1440 because then the game looks like crap to be honest
I have no quick bar in the second highest res either..
I have Win XP Sp 3

Ooookaay.... The game hates the 16:9 aspect ratio... If you set the res to the highest 16:10 I can see the quickbar.

I lost my quickbar as well... Native resolution is 2560x1600 on my monitor. I don't get the quickbar back until I lower to 1920x1200 or lower which makes everything fairly blurry. It seems to not be affected by 16:10, 16:9 or 4:3...

Reloading an older save game which still had the quickbar solved the problem.
