I have a problem with... startup, I guess, and can't really think of anything to explain it. It's quite possible this has been covered elsewhere, and if so I will gladdly accept redirection. It is also possible that there is a very simple solution and I am just to stupid to see it, but hopefully not. :-p

When i start up Mass Effect 2, it works fine. launcher opens, I select play game, goes through the bioware and ea logo movies, then the click any button to continue. It all works perfectly. However, next it flashes the main menu for a brief instant before coming up with this screen: i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv189/bluechukles/ME2issues2.png

That's all well and good, I can deal with that. however, whether I select continue or cancel, it goes here: http://i682.photobuc...s/ME2issues.png

.... and just sits there. The game hasn't crashed, not that I can tell. It hasn't frozen. Music still goes in the background, it can be windowed out of, when I close it it closes instantly... none of the usual stuff for programs that have crashed. It doesn't time out, it doesn't do anything. It just sits there, and my question is why? I don't imagine, though I could be wrong I suppose, that it has anything to do with any shortcoming on my computer's part. I just don't see how that is causing this. I had considered MAYBE the disk itself was defective, but there's no way for me to know for sure and no evidence really to support that. Install went just fine and etc. So, I am quite puzzled, and any help that can be offered would be most greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
