Probably depends on how you track the steps. I'd imagine, based on the head, the krogan tongue is thick, broad, and powerfully muscled, like someone shoved a live salmon in your mouth and it started fighting to get free.

Anything else, and I'm lead to think of the Futurama with the Lost City of Atlanta. They're reptiles (don't believe me? Talk to Wrex on Therum). Birthing live young is unlikely at best.
