I doubt anything will be done, but I would like to see what bioware says about it

Let's see, make DLC for a game that is still fresh and sold lots of copies? Or make DLC for a 2 year old game that didn't sell as well and that can only be accessed if people bought the first DLC?

I believe XyleJKH was refering to consequences from that mission into ME2 rather then a
thank you message.

If someone who hasn't played BDtS downloads it Bioware could just have the Batarians be successful in their objective and Shep gets vengeance.

It was a great DLC pack for the original game. But I am not sure if that enemy character is worthy of a new mission. He just seemed like he wasn't smart enough to want to risk it a second time.

This is begging for a conclusion as DLC. I'm tempted to keep Balak alive just to kill him in the follow-up DLC... and to keep the hostages alive too I guess.

-BDtS 2-

*Shepard gets an emergency distress signal*

Paniking Colonist: "Batarians are...trying to send another asteroid at our colony! Stop them again!"

Shepard: "Aww shi-...I shouldn't of let Balak go."

*Shepard does an interstellar U-turn to save the colony*

Balak: "I've truely learned the error of my ways human, this time I mean it."

Shepard: "I don't know, we've had this conversation before."

Balak: "Let me go, it's worth fifty paragon points, c'mon..."

Shepard: "Alright, I need those for keeping the crew together...fine."

Balak: "Sweet, see you in ME3's DLC!"

Shepard: *facepalm*

I tried to start a post like this a while ago but it got blown out of the sky pretty quickly.

The main problem is that of all of mass effect 2's fans, probably only 2/3 - 3/4 played ME1, of that portion only a much smaller group actually downloaded Bring down the sky and of that portion probably only half let Balek live. Lets face it as far as bioware is concerned thats a pretty small market group in comparrison to things like the hammer head and kasumi which are relevant to all fans..

Personally i loved Bring down the sky and was really looking forward to shooting balek square in his dirty 4 eyed head in ME2 but sadly i cant see this happening..

Bring Down the Sky was everything you wanted in a ME Game

It had:

- Vehicle Exploration
- Vehicle Combat
- On Foot Combat
- Puzzle Solving (Navigating through the mine field)
- Deep and emotion plot
- Impressive Dialog
- Unique and memorable characters
- Unique and engaging music
- Hollywood style gunfight at the end
- Difficult moral choice (Allow the hostages to die to kill Balak? Or Save the Hostages but allow Balak to escape?)

Since then, no other ME DLC has matched this, including Stolen Memory.

but what will happen if your imported shepard didn't make the bring down the sky mission? (like mine)

Wouldn't be that difficult to have Balak alive as default for those playing with a Shep in your situation or a default Shep w/o import.

I don't see this being a problem.  Why? Because if you let Wrex die in ME1 then he's replaced by another npc.  I don't see it being any different if you killed Balak.  Just replace him with a Batarian that was a member of his squad or brother or whatever.  If they never played BdtS then Balak is alive by default and EDI can fill in the gap with info about what he did in ME1.

lol, oops i posted spoilers in no spoiler forum.

As for the idea itself, I would like to see Balak addressed only if you let him live. It doesn't make much sense to me to bother creating content if you killed Balak. I would like to see this as maybe a single side mission in a larger DLC expansion pack.

I read somewhere on these forums that if you kill him he says he is working for someone far worse...so that person can be the main villain of a series of chain quests, and Balak can be a boss in one of them if you let him go.

Shepard needs his own loyalty mission for once Posted Image

I thought of the Normandy Crash Site mission as a mini-loyalty mission for Shepard. :innocent:

Anyhow, definitely supported. Bring Down the Sky was a well thought out DLC with interesting twists. A sequel would be a great addition.

Er... if you let the hostages die you are really, really bad person. That wasn't really a choice.

+1 for BDtS 2 though.

Good and bad are subjective. Letting Balak go will harm more than 3 people in the future.

Or he might get captured/killed few days after you let him go. Saving Ash or Kaidan was a choice. Letting innocent people die shouldn't really be.

"might" is the keyword. And there's a fairly low chance of that happening, whereas the chance of him continuing to be a terrorist is, what, 90%? He's not going to stop because his plans got f**ked up once.
