I think I'm just about done with this toolset as well. I had no problems installing it and making it run, but it's just too much of a pain in the butt to do anything on. It takes forever to build anything with bits and pieces of models, the documentation, tutorials and such in the wiki are poorly written, some functions of the toolset don't even working properly for some people, the list just goes on and on. They did such a good job with their previous toolsets in terms of making them easy to understand and easy to use for just about anyone, but it just seems that's all gone out the window this time. I've got a lot of experience with computer graphics and 3D modelling in programs like 3Ds Max and Maya, but this toolset is just aggravating. I've been a big BioWare fan for a long time, but this game as well as the toolset have been a real disappointment.

I'm going to try to remain open-minded about this.  However, as someone who worked with both the NWN1 and NWN2 toolsets, I don't have anything positive to say about this new toolset.

I freaking loved the NWN1 toolset, mainly because it was easy to use.  And it was easy to use because it was intuitive.

The NWN2 toolset was bogged down by technical glitches, but even then, it was workable....things made sense, even if it was plagued by bugs and fits of instability.

However, thus far, the DAO toolset is the most unintuitive, opaque toolset of all 3.....by a very wide margin.

What I find stunning is that after all the flack about the NWN2 toolset, it's like a decision was made to make the DAO toolset even more frustrating.

I deliberately halted work on an NWN2 module in the hope that using the DAO toolset would be more enjoyable.  Wrong.

Wasn't this thing beta-tested?  And didn't anyone stop to raise their hand and suggest that it might be helpful if people could rotate the freaking map without making a Twister manuever on their mouse.....I mean, honestly, what the heck is up with that?  What sort of wack job enjoys holding down the middle mouse button?  That's fun for exactly two seconds.

I'm going to give this some more time, but frankly, I don't have and endless supply of time or the patience to work out problems with this toolset.  That's work, not fun.

I purchased this product mainly for a functional, ENJOYABLE toolset.....not to devote a bunch of blood, sweat, and tears to problem solving.

This is supposed to be ENTERTAINMENT, not a chore.   I continue to hear how "powerful" this toolset is.  Well, "powerful" and "fun" need not be mutually exclusive.

Hmm...maybe thats what patches are for.....and patience....and thanking bioware for giving access to such a large gaming resource(especially for those who CAN use it):wizard:

What is so difficult about this toolset?

You can have a module created, Level/Area made with a Plot/Plotgiver, a conversation with camera angles and a cutscene within 15 minutes... depending on how advanced the cutscene/level are ;)

ARGH!!!! And i want to be able to do that! BIOWARE, HELP ME!!!!

Edit: Hey, is it possible to install the toolset and use it without having DA:O installed? Perhaps i can trouble shoot the issues i am having without the game being installed, so that i dont have to worry about corrupting my game save or something.

From what I've seen, the saves are in a separate folder, documents and settings(im probably wrong, so some1 correct me on that), so u could make a backup copy of your folder entitled bioware  from documents and settings and just do what u wanna do.
